Until roughly 2 years ago I had almost no idea how to cook anything, how to correctly prep or chop anything. Suddenly I gained interest and appreciation for cooking and I'm not too bad now. I cook most the food at home for my children but everything I've learned has been from educational CZcams videos like this one. I'm 29 years old and after 2 years of cooking I've managed beef wellingtons, proper roast dinners, beautiful dishes like curries and chilli con carne, lots of pasta dishes, various desserts (can't beat a cheesecake) and all I can say is I wish I had this love for cooking 10+ years ago. Just glad I found it eventually

I've cut apples like this since a teenager. My father asked me where I learned it when I was 13. I told him from math. Divide one into two, then four, then take the core out because if you cut it into 8 you have to take out 8 cores instead of 4. Then lay it flat so it's stable and easy to cut. I was obsessed with efficiency. Learned the lemon juice trick in college. It also has the same effect on the body (antioxidant). Putting a couple oz. of fresh lemon juice in water and drinking it down after cardio sessions can help your body recover a lot faster while still adapting. Oddly enough taking Vit. C tablets doesn't work the same. Lemon juice is the way to go.

Because it makes very little sense to through the trouble of taking out a whole different tool when you have a perfectly suitable tool that is easier and quicker to use already in your hand.
