- Oingo Boingo live in August 1980 performing Imposter, broadcast on The IRS Show in '82. This was the concert recorded for Urgh! A Music War at The Whisky but only footage of this and Ain't This The Life has ever surfaced. I've matched the high quality audio to the video.
The whole show is here: • Oingo Boingo - Live at... - Hudba
shout out to steve bartek for always looking like 😐 i love it
When the imposter doesn’t believe what he writes! 😳
When these comments are boring as f! 😳
@@sutiszorny8039 Mighty sussy of you, my friend! (Seriously though I kind of agree.)
@@samueljenkins3636 I am 25, I am too old for these, hehe...
yeah this joke is old and annoying tbh. I still find it kinda funny.
@@Vox_Rhododendron This is like when I hear the lame "Hungary - hungry" "joke" for the 10000th time. Not even funny.
Bartek seldom gets the respect he deserves for his brilliantly batshit guitar solos.
Thank you for treating us so much Oingo Boingo Tapes!
Dude, this sounds awesome! Love hearing this song live.
Wow! This captures the power that propels authentic new musicians.
Oingo Boingo have the most dedicated fans. 889 views right now (2021/07/11) and 136 likes (one of them is mine, of course). No dislike!
Finally, a slightly better quality of this performance!!!
This is so great! Always wanted to see some more of this show its probably my favorite performance of ‘Ain’t This the Life’ and i didnt think id see anymore till now! Thank you!
0:14 love the drums at the beginning here
You never lived in the streets though you wish you had
Not enough talent to play a guitar
You failed as an artist 'cause you lacked in the confidence
Now you're a critic and you're at the top
(The top of what)
You don't believe what you write
You're and imposter you don't, don't, don't believe what you write
You can't get used to the fact that you ain't a kid
You like to think that you speak for them all
You'd cut off your nose if you thought it would make you hip
It drives you crazy you can't be a star (Oh ain't that tough)
You don't believe what you write
(You're an imposter) you don't believe what you write
(You're an imposter) you don't believe what you write
(You're an imposter) you don't, don't, don't believe what you write
You take the credit while others do all the work
You like to think you discovered them first
But we all know you moved in after it was safe
That way you know you could never get hurt
(You like to play god!!)
(Repeat chorus)
You're just a critic, we know why you drink so much
Jealousy slowly consuming your gut
The streets that you never knew are just where they've always been
Your head is firmly lodged way up your butt (where it belongs)
(Repeat chorus)
Sick synth solo! Love it!
I'm so sorry, but Kerry Hatch is just over here looking like 😦
Danny Elfman please take me to cool city aaaaaaa
Same here, so I can finally find my life's ambition. Johnny did.
Idk, I've heard about this dude named Mr. Macho who lives in Cool City. He does crazy shit like smash windows, crash cars, and fall down stairs when the TV dinner's not done yet. If you're deadset on going there, try to steer clear of him.
So good
This is awesome thanks!!
this has always puzzled me whenever hearing this live performance, but does anyone know what David Eagle (i think) is saying at 0:10 ?
sounds something like "ROMNEY HILLBURN!" or maybe some other actual LA times writer at the time of this performance, my ears just cannot make whatever the hell he is saying out.
At the time, Robert Hilburn was the pop music critic of the LAT. Unless it was Springsteen, Hilburn couldn't appreciate music.
VAMOOOO 🕺
Nice
Just put together this ‘Aint this the Life’ from this show if anyone wants to check it out! czcams.com/video/EHE9d0gR_fU/video.html
There was an official release of Ain’t This The Life on the Urgh! soundtrack album in a slightly different mix
Who is the drummer here? That sure doesn't look (or sound) like Johnny "Vatos" Hernandez....
David Eagle who briefly replaced Vatos in the band in 1980 before he rejoined
What is Dale playing? A synth?
looks like it yeah, or a sampler.
probably I do remember him having a synth in front of him at the ritz concert in 85
