  • Modify a canoe ? Why not !
I picked up this canoe for free a few months back and now its out on the water, modified and motorised !
Ive restored this canoe in to the ultimate fishing canoe and I hope it will inspire others to get out on the water ! I want to keep this channel as relatable as possible to all viewers and a canoe was the best way of doing that ! Cheap and easy to do ! anyone can do this
Find something you're passionate about and do it as much as possible

This is brilliant, really good job on the canoe and the video. That was one hell of a transformation, people are going to be popping in to watch this video for years.

I'm currently obsessed with my 17' Alumacraft pontoon trimaran with an 8' x 7' platform that will enable me to fish but also take 3 people with me on lake excursions. It too will be easily taken apart and assembled by one person. It is also going to be mounted to a 1952 Ford F3 truck via 2 custom made racks. The canoe build has been eating my brain the last month and I'm stoked for it to be completed.

Great job and love the run through of what you did and why. Have been thinking about customizing an old canoe myself as I think they're a better option for me than a yak, so your canue restoration and modification has heled me no end.

Really well done Andy. Load more satisfaction doing this yourself. You are spot on with the motor. I put a 24lb on our tandem and can run it on low speed but high near rips it out the mount. What brand and model was your battery?

Also, are those battery/battery box setups plug and plug when it comes to the ports on top?

I like and going use some of your ideas. I have to thank you, so hard to find canoe ideas, search canoe and get kayak with that said I have a 15.6 foot canoe and just thinking of putting a floor in, and out with the plastic seats to lower and put in swivel back rest seats, I have 30 lb thrust mini kota and it gets, now the question is what floor material did you use. I'm very handy with wood and have a great idea what thickness a board or plywood support it can handel but again it can get heavy with a load. My canoe weight rated at 800 pounds a real tag on the canoe. I can and would make things removable like you have done.

Nice job and finish. Though you have outriggers, note that this boat looks overloaded (not much between the gunnels and water) and you’re pretty vulnerable if any of those outriggers deflate. I don’t mean to sink your ship so to speak, but I don’t think this is particularly safe for what you might come up against. FWIW I fish from boats, canoes and kayaks.

Awesome set up well done. You mention the size of engine due to it slipping off with to much power, could you not countersink the screw clamps slightly into the wood, that way it couldn't slip once tightened down into the same size recess hole? Just a thought cheers

A hundred and fifty dollars for a few piece of pipe and blow up toons. That seems like it’s over priced.

Sailboatstogo makes high quality stabilizers with marine grade aluminum square tubes, hard plastic stabilizers, aluminum clamps and stainless hardware. Those are $250. Mine came with my canoe sailboat kit. I've yet to flip the boat while sailing despite my best efforts. They're awesome for motoring or fishing too. Imho worth the extra $100 over these inflatables
