- Jason Reed of Inner Edge Music sat down for an in-depth interview with Steve Kilbey of The Church at the The Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz, California this week. They chatted about the band's current tour and upcoming album (entitled "Man Woman Life Death Infinity") to be released on October 6th. They also talked, amongst other topics, about that uniquely 20th Century "right of passage" experience (that all music lovers have faced) of having one's album purchases be judged by "holier than thou" record store clerks! inneredgemusic.com/stevekilbey...
Been listening to the church since '82'. This band really was shorted larger stardom. They need a star on walk of fame.
Australian music royalty right there. And SK actually looked like he appreciated the quality of the interviewer. Great Questions
happy birthday .steave.from the church.
👍👍👍
I first saw The Church many decades ago, early 1980s - and many times since. Enigmatic - Steve Kilby has gained wisdom over the decades. Over the past few years, I see the Bill Nighy performance as Billy Mack in Love Actually as being very Steve Kilby-like - both performance and interviews. It’s an odd coincidence. Keep going Steve!
Superb interview. Steve is so laid back.
Such a cool guy,he was a passenger in my UBER,and awesome Music!...
Songs are deep and take you places.
Great interviewer. Saw his Mark Burgess interview too. Great questions. He really compliments his subjects, which they appreciate. Us fans do too.
Yeah, big time fan here, and that was a cool interview.
Great interview. Lots of great nostalgia.
‘Under the Boardwalk’ ~ I wanted that single for my 14th birthday
I think the Church DNA in large part is Steve's vocals. His voice is the Church. You can hear his accent unlike a lot of artist with an accent.
great interview.
Ahahahah....that’s so true about the import records and the hi-fi store ! Great Steve !
Great interview!
14:50 The capitalistic record companies, lol. Love it.
+1 for Jason Reed.
His accent is UK/ Antipodean with a splash of yank from touring
Steve now suffering the encroachment of liver spots ... time flies ... I still remember the Church in 1980
Saw them in Dallas this past Sunday.... (great time btw)
Took a couple zoomed pics of him sent the most in focus one to a friend the next day with the comment "I ain't gay or nothin' but Steve is a pretty good lookin' bloke!" Lol she agreed.... guy is holding up quite well. I'd noticed that, too, I'll be 53 in June so I'm expecting some soon myself.... can't quite say I'm as much of a witty and handsome fellow though lmao!
What a great guy. Such a good band. Steve doesn't really have an Australian accent; I thought all of them were from Australia.
Jesse MacDonough they are all Aussies
He was actually born in England but raised in Australia, and also lots of Australians don't have the super twangy Aussie Yobbo accents,Mr.Kilbey has what a lot of people might call a posh accent!!!
krazynite The band's actually never had all Aussies at any one time: Marty was English, Jay Dee was American and Tim's originally from New Zealand.
@@krazynite no, he's from the UK. Moved down under when hew was 3 yrs old.
Who is this guy? He's not mean and grumpy anymore!!!
there is nothing wrong with the Archies ..........just saying ......Sugar Sugar is a Fabulous song......TIMELESS......... I dont know why your shaking......it makes me sad.....
Funny he mentioned Tom Verlaine. Marquee Moon never really resonated with me. Big Star yes. Television meh..
Botox, cocaine and schooners... old Sydney Rockstars ⚡️🇦🇺 ⚡️
Interviewer need to talk less.
Steve Kilby loves Donald Trump, you heard it here first!
snarfies lol
He was giving a random possible example of out of context sentence
Obviously he loves America
