What are your thoughts on the corkscrew and reverse corkscrew forward and backwards skating technique vs. the straight push or the backwards c-cut to push methods? Is it merely preference or a combination of all of them that's better? BTW I watch, practice, and apply everything I possibly can of your videos and schooling. You're the best!
Going backwards clockwise is ok’ish but the other way around sucks. Have the same going forward but the exact opposite (counterclockwise stepping over is ok but left over right is more difficult. Taking mostly left turns growing up did not help
First thing I noticed with his videos is his ultra wide stances and strides. I’ve never seen a pro skate with such an exaggerated stance and stride. Watch Larkin or McDavid skate.
@@umno3175 A grifter? This dude has more excellent points than most coaches I have seen. He is exaggerating his strides to show what motion needs to be accomplished. Stop hatin.
@MattsBaseballWorld Yeah and when you're in a hurry and you trip over your legs and fall down and the forward walks past you and deposits the Puck in the net, you can sit on the bench the rest of the game. My buddy is a skate instructor for an NHL team. That's what they teach NHL level D Men. You do heel-to-heel when you're moving laterally for a bunch of reasons. Guy's like Bedard make D Men who cross over skating look like fools. Bad advice? Pffffffft don't even know what TF you're talking about.
As soon as a D crosses over one way, anyone playing junior and up is going the other way. Then you’re absolutely caught flat footed with no way of getting over to/being able to pivot to catch the player burning you
@@kirkskebo268 Sooooo, how exactly would you explain all the x-overs in this vid sir kirk??? czcams.com/video/hmetMpeYsZM/video.html&ab_channel=JohnHuh
@@darksaga80 Well, if you can't skate and are just going to trip all over the place, nothing is going to help you. But if you practice at game speed, you'll get it, and you'll be able to gain speed, backwards and facing the play, rather than having pivot forwards to gain your speed and have to turn your back on the play... fwds love seeing that.
@@TheHenryDuong what if he just teaches because he’d rather teach? I know very personally a guy who made the NFL (pretty sure he even got signed) because he’s a hell of a kicker, but he decided he’d rather teach young men his skills and life knowledge. I am one of those young men.
The best lessons are taught in 30 seconds and you practice until you get it

Yes. The information can be given in 30 seconds, the rest is practise and self research.
Push push extra push
Puush, puush and an extra puuush
This man is one of the best teachers of hockey that I have ever seen.
The guy is becoming a meme of himself
Just keep on pushing 💪

He has another video explaining that corkscrews are medium speed and crossovers are fastest method of going forward or backwards.
This is shot like a commercial on Television 👍
I am having my kid Jack join one of your camps next year!!!
What do you cut your skates at? 9/16? 1/2?

wouldnt it just be gaining momentum. like pumping on a snowboard? thats how we goalies learn it.
yes your backward is as fast as kids forward nice
How bout skate backwards in a straight line
If you skating that wife in high level you’re gonna get dusted in a second lmao used damn near the whole width of the rink to pick up speed
Never cross over as a defenseman.
Now there's some bad advice. Between the blue lines, always x-over, and then in your zone, c-cuts only.
