I saw the little fella when I was doing my degree at Durham University in 1984, the lecture theatre was packed, standing room only. When he finished the whole place erupted with applause. There was hardly anyone over the age of 22.

i listened to this record as an 11 year old at my grandparents house in 1983....i know it word for word, the war stories section is just as good....nostalgia doesnt even begin to quantify the feelings of pure happiness, safety and joy that watching this evokes in me...i still use the line when my son asks me for money..'where's tha gannin? hollang?' he just looks at me in bemusement hahah but i crack myself up hahah ...god bless y bobby....you had ya troubles like we all do, but your legacy is golden....

Saw little Bobby umpteen times. If he was on any local clubs we always made a beeline to see him. We knew the act backwards but the delivery was priceless. Likewise the Dixielanders , hilarious entertainment. Modern so called comedians should watch these guys and find out what comedy is all about.

We all had nowt in them days but thinking back we were happier. We didn’t have to watch every word we said. You could call anybody love or pet and not be accused of being patronising. People had a sense of humour. We could laugh at ourselves. Happy memories. ❤

Reminds me of my street when I was a kid, if you paid the rent two weeks running the police used to come around to see where you'd got the money from!🥺 All my clothes came from the Army and Navy Stores, I was the only five year old Japanese Admiral in our class!😲 Our school was the hardest in the town, we even had our own coroner!😉 Some kids took the piss out of my younger brother aged ten because he had red lines running down his face, so I told them it was because he was breast fed! They asked how that could possibly be? I said 'she used to come to the school on a lunchtime and breast feed him through the railings!🤫We used to walk to school and back home later, a round trip of ten miles, that just show's how thick we were, the school was only two streets away, but we always got lost every day!🤔 The teacher asked my brother 'What comes at the end of a sentence'? My brother said ' Parole miss'!🤭The school inspector asked one lad in our class 'who knocked down the walls of Jericho'? He said 'well it wasn't me'! The inspector went to the head master and told him that when he asked who knocked down the walls of Jericho? the ginger lad said it wasn't him!
The headmaster said 'well, I've know little ginger Thompson since he was a kid, and if he says he never did it, then he never did it'!
