How to Properly Prune a Pothos 🪴✂️

  • čas přidán 25. 05. 2024
  • (If you want to avoid having a naked top)
    🪴 Pick 1-3 longer vines and find where they meet the soil
    🪴 Cut each vine 1-2 (maybeeee 3) nodes from the soil line
    🪴This step is optional, but if you’d like, you can propagate those cuttings
    🪴 Repeat this process every 3-4 months and you’ll have a nice, full center!
    We’re in the middle of propagating some cuttings right now - make sure you follow along to see how to transfer cuttings over to soil!
    (Disclaimer: it will take another couple weeks for us to get that video out!)

    Thank you I so needed to see this. I keep winding and rewinding but the plant doesn’t thicken it just gets lankier. This method is going to be a game changer.😊

    Ah thank you for the info!! So I assume thishelps the plant become fuller instead of putting all the energy into making the long parts even longer?!

  • @MadisonWestfield
    @MadisonWestfield Před 2 měsíci +4

    So I guess this does not apply if you want long vines on your plant?

    • @TheGardenersCenter
      @TheGardenersCenter  Před 2 měsíci +1

      You can totally have long vines on your plant! You don’t have to sacrifice your longest vines, just make sure to cut 1-2 nodes from the soil line of whichever vines you do pick (if you want to promote more fullness in the center!)

    Are these safe for kids and pets? And do you have a video or blog post on how to take of them? (Watering schedule. How much sunlight etc)

  • @dee4716
    @dee4716 Před 2 měsíci

    I just wanna point out that you don't have to cut it at all and you CAN cut it anywhere you like. It all depends on how you want the plant to look and grow.

  • @donnabolt5847
    @donnabolt5847 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Do you then just take the cut vine and put it in a pot with soil to grow a whole new plant?
    Im so glad your video popped in my feed. I have 2 pothos i really love .
    Thanks!

    • @angelaramona96
      @angelaramona96 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I think if it has roots like this one did that would work. But if it doesn't I would cut between each node and put them in water until they did have roots

    I couldn't see inside and don't know what a node looks like. Can you show me up close? I have this plant from my mother's funeral and it isn't looking nice. No longer full in the pot, and a few very long ones with missing leaf areas. Thank you

    Show us how to propagate the branch we cut off. What happens if we cut 3 knodes nodes from the soil line?

    Now do you have any advice for my pothos plants that are being attacked by mealy bugs? I’ve tried diluted alcohol and neem oil and dish soap. The plants cannot be removed and sprayed with water because of their location along the ceiling. TIA
