- Among many other of their classics, Asia performed "Cutting It Fine" from their 1982 debut album at the Bergen Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night, July 9. New lead singer and bass player Harry Whitley respectfully played John Wetton's bass on stage and his vocals sounded uncannily like him! The band sounded FANTASTIC! Geoff & guys, if you happen to read this I really hope this version of Asia will play in the UK someday soon - somewhere like the Islington Assembly hall or the 229 would be brilliant or even provincial theatres like Southend Cliffs Pavilion - Yes, Steve Hackett, Squeeze to name a few have gone down a storm there.
I often wondered how Geoffrey tackled the second half of this piece on stage. It sounded marvelous here. Was it a combination of live playing and a playback of some of the sound he had tracked in 1982?
