The Benihana mention makes me giggle, it seems so random but when you think about it, it really isnt. I'm not sure if every location has this but my local one in Dallas has a photo of Elvis on the wall as part of the company's history. Scared the crap out of me when I went to a birthday dinner and was coincidentally sat right in front of it haha! I have that same concert program too and every time I open the cover it makes me smile!
I am ecstatic you made this video, thank you. I am an Elvis fan who does not collect LPs, but even I could see the record Angie held up to the crowd was not the original acetate played by Dewey Phillips. It may have been an acetate later played by Dewey, but not the original. You could also see in Wink's eyes that he also recognized it was not the original, but caught off guard in front of the crowd as a guest of Graceland, he wisely kept his mouth shut and played the record. I also do not believe the audio heard during the celebration came from the disc in front of Wink. There were no cords connected to that record player and I just find it impossible to believe Graceland had a tiny portable turntable which was not only wireless, but played 78's. Maybe it was a recording of the same disc, but it could have been a recording of any random Elvis That's Alright track. When Angie held up the disc, my heart sank because until that moment, I felt like Angie as head of archives knew what she was talking about in most regards, even though I found other information she put out there to be incorrect, but this is so blatantly wrong, even I, a fan not at the event and who has never seen a 78 outside of a museum, could spot it. Over the last several years, I have been to Memphis twice and was able to meet and tour with Billy, The Spa Guy, but I always kind of regretted I had not been able to work out a way to meet Angie. I no longer have regrets as my time was spent much more wisely with Billy, who has excellent driving skills to go along with his extensive Elvis knowledge.
It’s unfortunate, but this is the situation we’re in with EPE. I have zero confidence in their ability to authenticate items. This has been a problem for a long time. It’s not new. From displaying fake items, to selling fake items, now this.
Thanks for the video, yes Graceland deserves to be ridiculed over this fiasco a cheap record player to play a priceless Acetate which sounds like the echo R.C.A version ! ( I personally don't think they played the record the footage I saw was too far away but I don't think the needle even moved across the record ) as for Elvis' biggest record I am sure you could easily sell that to Graceland - they would probably try to play that as well ! regards the summer 1973 Vegas engagement I thought the shows were very good and an improvement over the earlier February shows keep up the good work.
Even if they didn’t play the acetate, which I agree with you I don’t believe they did, it still has a lot of problems. No matter which way you look at it it’s not legitimate. It’s very likely a 1970s fake. More information will be coming out on that soon.
Thanks for the video Richard. Your little laugh at the end is gold lol. I purchased that program from 1976 at the Eugene concert I attended on November 27th. Thanks for sharing all that you do.
Jamie and John are fantastic, would be good to see you make some videos with them. You all have a wealth of knowledge and compelling way of presenting it. Thanks for the video.
The problem as I see it, is, there are people running EPE who have little interest in Elvis, only money. The woman who is the curator of the museum (white gloves) is an example.
She was hired as a tour guide. She has ZERO qualifications to be head of archives for the most important legacy in rock n roll. It’s a clown show at EPE & has been for years.
Have I told you lately that I love you?!?!! Loved this video. I love the International stuff. Mostly I love you calling out EPE. If you get the right price for the record, let’s take a trip to see it on display.
That's Terrible that the bought a fake, in this day and age you would think they would be much more careful, people can fake anything and make it seam real. Are you sure of this? and maybe they can get there money back. I know if it were my Husband Some one would get hurt one way or another. Love Your Videos!
That’s funny! He’d be breaking someone fingers to get some money back! Is it real or fake? It’s fake. Watch the video in the top of these comments. It has all you need to know. One red flag is enough to question is & it has about 6! It cannot possibly be legit. Thanks for watching.
I love your video I just found you on CZcams. I to am an Elvis Presley collector and I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find Elvis's concerts from 1969 to 1977 I have looked on the Internet and can't find any
Well then that explains the lack of pop in the sound. Angie knows better than that. Whoever thought it would be wise to spend that kind of money on an item without doing a deep investigation into its authenticity should be fired. Uncalled for and embarrassing to the estate and Weinshanker. Probably was grandpa Soden.😂😂😂
If I made a $25,000.00 mistake at work I’d be fired. ONE phone call to Ernst would have stopped this beforehand. The arrogance they have to not use the resources they have at their disposal is mind numbing. They deserve the ridicule. They are in charge of the most important legacy in rock n roll and this is what they do with it. They constantly make the wrong move. It’s bush league and embarrassing. They should clean house at EPE. They’re too married to the old guard.
@@TheElvisWorkshop I couldn't agree more! They've gotten lazy over the years. The Dress To Rock exhibit is the only exhibit that they have really ever put effort in. I remember going there back in the 90s and having to correct the tour guides. 😂
@mikem957 absolutely! I’ve done the same. It’s gotten worse and worse. It’s a lot bigger problem than the tour guides. When the so called archives department repeatedly does this kind of thing it’s hard to have confidence in anything they present as legitimate.
Yes they have. It’s well known. Sometimes they sell items for other sellers, but their name is on it & they see proven fakes. It has happened time and time again. It’s a disgrace.
The John Heath video I mention: czcams.com/video/KDKGo5lpx40/video.htmlsi=toeljKcrVBHa2ATb

I'm glad you did this on the acetate. I couldn't believe when I heard it on the live stream Monday.
Embarrassing that they were so easily duped.
Thanks for another great video , always enjoy.
Luv the show.
Thanks for yoyr videos....I love them...a lit of interesting info 👍🏻
Just looking for Mary’s book on eBay and it’s $300 to $1000 dollars. SMH. Great video Richard.
Oh wow, I was not aware of that. That’s very unfortunate.
Same with Kathy Westmoreland's book. Over $1000.

They learned from the best hustler, Tom Parker, welcome to the Snowmans Club.😂

I left that in at the end on purpose. I had a good laugh at their $25,000 expense.
Very cool about the tour program you bought! Thanks for watching…!

Hahaha! Well, a little birdie told me that they emailed the video to EPE…so maybe they extend an offer!
Great stuff!
Cool items Richard
The mylar poster is awesome!
Yes, that thing is awesome. I’ve always wanted to get my hands on one. I’m very happy to have it.
When I heard it the first time I knew it was fake . And everyone in the crowd just lapped it up
Yup. Another misstep.

As in CD’s? Video? A list of shows? I need a little more detail of what you’re looking for.

Well evidently she doesn't. But she's come a long way from Brooks Rd...
HI.....EPE auctions have sold fake items I know for fact
