    I've watched a ton of these Nash hesis to understand how he gets by whenever he wants, no matter how fast rhe defender is. What I believe is happening is:
    1. He makes a small move, like a bound or skip, to get the defender to shift their feet.
    2. The small move always leaves him in split stance so he's in a better acceleration posture than the defender.
    3. He reads their feet. As soon as they push off either leg, they're helpless. This is when he accelerates past them.
    The last part is the unique part. If you've ever paid attention to when you're playing defense, you'll notice that you feel vulnerable as soon as you take a step. So you try to make steps short and low to the ground and take them when they're least risky. But the fact is, you have to take steps and as soon as you do, you're committed until both feet are on the ground again. Nash takes advantage of this fact.
    If the defender's feet happen to be planted during his window of explosion, he takes another setup dribble and tries again. C.f. czcams.com/video/hStQCvf1oZg/video.html

      Genius observation. Saw your comment on jordan’s one dribble pull up jumper. Wish i could talk to you more about this.

    Can you reupload this without the music. The commentary is barely audible and the music covers up what is audible. Thanks

    what are some counters to this move?

    • @ChrisJordanTV
      @ChrisJordanTV  Před 2 lety

      a counter to this move is a drop thru which you can see here - czcams.com/video/2nrqv_-ICaA/video.html
      Another counter is a pullup jumper if the defender backs up to stop the drive.

      how do you read your defender properly when doing these?

    • @ChrisJordanTV
      @ChrisJordanTV  Před 2 lety

      @@Roger-di3ib this move is designed so you can slow down the game and force your defender to make a decision. Depending on your skillset, it will determine what you do in certain moments.
      For example, if you do this move and your defender cuts you off, that’s when the drop thru comes into play. Which allows you to counter and attack the opposite angle.
      If you go into this move and the defender sits or moves backwards, pull-up for a jump shot.
      You wanna make the game as simple as possible. Easy way to do that is to make reads.
