I don’t think she was hiding seeing as everyone knows who she is… but I think something might have happened that made her give up fighting up until this point cuz since the start of bleach she has never fought anyone that’s the only way I can think to explain this or maybe it was an order from Yamamoto u never know but I don’t think she was hiding people don’t suddenly forget a notorious killer/criminal and let them be part of a main division

Unohana is no joke! The thing is tho, after she stopped claiming the title of kenpachi, Tenjiro learned her different kinds of medical techniques and she became the unohana we knew. Also, in the anime they hinted at the relation between Tenjiro and Unohana the moment Squad Zero arrived. The reason why Unohana hid her true identity is most likely because she didn’t wanted to be like her old self anymore.

when unohana stab zaraki throat that is real, you can prove it by look to the blood on unohana face that she got from stabbing zaraki's throat. its not iillusion.

Unohana never hid anything. Everyone (probably most) in the Gotei knew she was the first kenpachi. If you noticed everyone was low key kinda afraid of her.
True, Probably most, at least the ones that had a run in with here throughout the series(can't remember all the ones tho). but to the viewer it just came off like mother ready to scold children. I damn near died like Micheal too when I first knew this.
She hid her true identity tho because Tenjiro learned her the medical techniques. It’s true tho, they hinted at the fact that Unohana is someone to not mess with throughout the whole series.
And Aizen refuse to fight her after he had defeated Hitsugaya with just one swing.
Strategically Soul Society will be messed up when the best healer is gone and it will be a great chance for Aizen to weaken Soul Society, but he’s not gonna take the risk to fight Unohana.

It has been foreshadowed for some time that Unohana is the first Kempachi. Unohana's status in the character book released long ago showed that her attack power was unusually high, that she had kept the scar on her chest hidden since her first appearance, and that Sousuke Aizen had avoided fighting Unohana.
not only that, but this fight explains why EVERYONE was so terrified of her whenever she got even a little bit angry.
The instant this reveal happened I was like 'Oh my god so that's why!!!'
This is was greatest reveal in all of Bleach imo. I remember the feeling when I first read it and seeing him react to this part took me back in a rush of emotions remembering when I first read it. I cried watching this episode.
Also in that same databook from the Soul Society arc you mentioned, it said that Unohana's specialty was "Kendo". And Kubo actually confirmed in the Jet artbook interview that he planned for Unohana to be the First Kenpachi since he initially designed.

One of the best twists and one I think was planned for a very long time. There are many hints throughout the entire series starting at the Soul Society arc
It feels like each week Mike's gonna eventually die with all the hype-ness. Also, the food island was defo my favorite one man. I was so jealous of Ichigo and Renji
Kubo always showing proper love to my black/brown kings and queens man. Giving them Royalty status and extreme high value like a black brother creating the Zanpakuto while part of the Zero Division. Kubo Thank you for not making us look like big lipped bafoons or clowns.
Also, I love the Muken its like the hyperbolic time chamber but opposite, all Black and dark.
That's why Kubo is the goat🐐
Fr Kubo uses people of all colour pallets in all of his works simply because they look cool. He designs characters by visuals first then their stories second. He has a high appreciation for western themes and media as well which I believe truly elevates his artwork and style in a way that no other mangaka in the 2000s could.
He is genuinely exceptional, diverse and one of my all time favourites.
The dangai is more of a hyperbolic time chamber tbh but muken is dope
I mean lets be honest, the only 2 very popular anime (that i can think of rn) that have cool looking dark skin characters are Naruto and Bleach, Bleach aside with them being goats, u cant deny the fact that Raikage and Killer Bee look very goated, not to mention that Bee is a rapper which is like the biggest cliche u can make dark skinned character be (in a good way)
@@ManOfCulture6969 Imo Raikage is a bit of a living cliche which makes it far less interesting than characters like Yoruichi or Oetsu who respectively occupy two of the most important status roles in their verse. You don't have the impression that their style or them being black was ever used as a comedic value trope, because they are just important people who happen to be black (which is the best kind of representation imo).
The Unohana reveal was insane back in the day.
This is the only time Kubo ever expanded on the previous Kenpachis, other than a very brief mention and color panel of the Kenpachi that Zaraki killed and one of the light novels diving into the 7th and 8th Kenpachis way after the manga ended. Getting to see Unohana like this was WILD.

Actually to be fair, the title has never been passed down from her, from my understanding, Zaraki couldn't defeat her! They still have to settle the score! A kenpachi is the strongest! And Zaraki fought her when he was a kid! meaning since that time no real Kenpachi has been around, as the two strongest are pretty much alive. One when to the 4th squad probably cause she is the best healer and it was times of peace, the other one, grew up, came back... did his deads and we saw him against ichigo. It is said during that fight they both were full force!
@@eestiny9734 i mean Zaraki would've killed her even back then, he hesitated bc as he himself said he started admiring person who gave him a good fight, and did not want to kill her bc it would mean that he would never be able to cross blades with person he looked up to the most, so he put restrictions on himself, which is why she blames herself for that and is saying that that's her "sin"
Edit: in conclusion, what this fight was all about is Kenpachi finally moving on from his obsession with the person he looked up to, and him putting his past aside and starting to move forwards, which is why the scene with him turning into a skeleton in next episode is so iconic (as explained by Kubo) bc it can be interpreted as old weak Kenpachi dying, and the new one that wont live in past being born
I just want to say... The fact that the biggest criminal Is also a healer is maybe the WORST combination you can get as her enemy... Someone who can heal your wounds, that can heal you... Over, and over, and over, and over, and over...

She killed him and healed him back to kill him again. That’s why Unohana learned healing

Unohana Yashiru vs Zaraki Kenpachi...the first Kenpachi vs the current one...one of the 5 big moments I wanted to see so badly animated in that arc and it doesn't disappoint ! The battle of the Kenpachi's...what is gonna come out of this room will be an unstoppable killing machine forge by battle of pure instincts...it's savage and glorious at the same time ! Can't wait for episode 10 !!!
Easily the number one thing I wanted to see animated. And the best part is, since it seems most of 10 will be the fight, we'll get some more expanded scenes. Next episode could be a top 5 episode for sure.

And yes, 2 Kenpachis can't exist at the same time. It's not so much as her "hiding," but being a reformed criminal. She's got a new life & identity as a healer, not a killer. Kenpachis are stone cold killers like Zaraki. She doesn't want to be Yachiru, she's arranging flowers and smiling at everybody like a kind warm auntie. Meanwhile she's got all kinds of demons & skeletons in her closet.

Kaien is also directly related to him, which giving hindsight explains why Rukia built such a meaningful friendship with Ichigo. It also explains Ukitake and Byakuya's conversation in the Rukia Rescue arc about "who Ichigo Resembled", as Kaien was his Lieutenant. Not only that, it also helps explains Ichigo's monstrous spiritual pressure, as the great royal families have a hereditary affinity to being incredibly powerful.
