Hey, just wanted to let you know that with D+ you can actually change the subtitle sizing, colour and opacity, etc. You just have to go into settings in the top right when the video is playing and click the little cog on the top right again and voila.

The reason why both of them are fighting is because it can only be one kenpachi each generation it's an ironclad rule so in order for kenpachi zaraki to fully inherent the name kenpachi the current kenpachi unohana must die

@@kronosleblu888 Mayuri was never afraid because ofnhis arrogance not due to his strength. Being afraid would mean he felt inferior to them and he is too prideful that science could overcome anyone. He even scolded the head captain, and we all know the HC could beat Mayuri without even trying. It's not really a testiment to his stregth but more along the line of arrogance.
Kenpachi is the title for the strongest. She was the first one to hold that title.....She also started squad 11 ritual meaning you have to kill the previous captain to take his spot.

If you remember from Soul Society arc way back when, Shunsui mentioned that Unohana was the only OG captain in the Gotei 13 besides Yamamoto. He also said those are the two people he DOES NOT want to fight. They really hinted at Unohana goddess's strength almost 20 years ago. Love to see it

A katana handle on the right means ready to draw and can be taken as a threat so it is usually displayed with the handle on the left. The reason you have the blade curving down is so that the cutting edge faces upwards which is how a katana is worn in battle, it's also so that the edge doesn't get damaged over time.

In reference to the katana at the start, the handle is on the right in times of war, on the left in times of peace, for the same reason when you present someone a sword you do so with the blade facing you. In times of peace a sword should never be ready to be drawn, so itâs handle is on the side of the off hand. The position of the sword signifies its intended use. If you show someone a sword with a blade facing them, you can slash them. If you keep a sword in a position where it is always ready to be used, it will be too easy to use it
I know this fight is necessary for Kenpachi to grow but I donât want Unohana to die that would be sad af. Also Hikifune needs to become my personal chef asap lol.

The poem was offcourse about Unohana.. Zaraki named his lieutenant (the little pink girl) Yachiru after the only person he ever admired(after the ichigo zaraki fight there is a flasback about zaraki and little yachiru)
The reason why Shunsui said one of them has to die.. there can be only one kenpachi.. The chalenger kills the previous kenpachi in battle and takes their name this is the way of kenpachi.. Unohana was the first kenpachi and created the 11 division but we all know her as captain as squad 4.. so she had to left her position sometime in the past and became the nice healer lady everyone was scared of, but now the new headcaptain ordered her to teach zaraki the way of the sowrd. To do that she took her old persona and her title back . They are fighting for the title of kenpachi.
Its important to note that Unohana shed the name Kenpachi, as well as Yachiru, because of her fight with Zaraki when he was a kid
Sooooo if you remember the old bleach episodes, there was always some tension between Unohana and Kenpachi.

Small detail I really appreciate in this episode, the sauna guy punched Ichigo with his right hand but then used his left to punch Renji..... Because his right hand was fractured by Ichigo. And the reason why Renji wasn't sent flying despite being in worse condition than Ichigo was probably BECAUSE he was punched by his left hand lol

Just to clarify, the name "Kenpachi" is actually a title awarded to the strongest shinigami, which is reserved to the captain of the eleven division. It is an ironclad rule that there can only be one Kenpachi at the time, with the rite of succession being a trial by combat where the new "Kenpachi" (challenger) has to kill the current one to get the title and be appointed captain of the 11th division. Unohana is the 1st Kenpachi and Zaraki is the 11th Kenpachi to hold the title. As to why Unohana is still alive it is speculated that she relinquished the title and changed divisions to become a healer, but the next ep should explain things more clearly and honestly I don't want to spoil anything so yeah. Read between the lines to figure out what happened. Unohana appeared to have killed Kenpachi by stabbing his throat. She then tells him he seemed to have blacked out and thinks to herself he gets stronger every time he's on the brink of death (pushed to the limit). Keep in mind she's a master at healing...so if you puit 2 and 2 together, what do you think happened? It wasn't a genjutsu or a vision.
Theyâre fighting for the official title of âkenpachiâ there cant be multiple kenpachiâs
The whole thing of Byakuya originally dying has never actually been confirmed by the mangaka. Iirc heâs just said something like new mangaka shouldnt be on social media too much or theyll too be influenced by the fans. People just took that quote and made assumptions. I think what actually ends up happening is pretty good.
With the way it had been written so far, him dying seems to be the natural thing to happen not gonna lie and would have been super impactful. Like his final words to Ichigo were to ask him to save soul society and his final thoughts being that he is content knowing that Rukia and Renji will be fine. Considering how he was introduced to the audience as a character all those years, this death of his would have been the PERFECT way to cap off his character. And some phenomenal potential of further development for Rukia and Renji.

So, Zaraki is the 11th KENPACHI and there has been 10 before him. And Unohana is the 1st Kenpachi...she was the 1st Captain of the 11th squad.
I don't know if you've noticed, but Zaraki named the girl "Yachiru" (the girl with pink hair) because it's Unohana's name.
you would never ever expect that out of all the characters being shipped in bleach, Unohana and Zaraki are the only ones who has the MOST obvious on screen sexual tension you will ever see in the series. like even if you ship them or not or even don't at all interpret their interaction as romantic, you would still notice something akin to "lust" and/or "desire" through their interactions. I mean I myself personally don't ship them but my god the sexual tension is so thick only [Redacted] can cut it.

Well you'll find out next episode what's up with that final scene but let's just say as a reminder that she is now a "Healer", in context of Kenpachi zoning out after his neck was stabbed.
The reason it "has" to be on the left is because all Japanese samurai were right handed, having the handle on the right was seen as a sign of distrust and sort of a threat towards visitors because it would be quicker to wield it (idk if this is true but thats what i remember of what I've heard)
A handle to the right shows a sign of use or threat, an example can be active war, to the left is more display. Blade up so that the sharpened end does not get dull or damage scabbard. And for metal blades it's ment to be inside the scabbard to protect from elements. (Ik that's ones wood but for any Katana that you have thats are real metal)

the "one of you has to die" thing is largely just because zaraki won't be able to get much training from the battle if he isn't pushed to the brink of death and that isn't going to happen if they aren't going at each other with the intent to kill. doing things this was is going to inevitably end in one of their deaths.

theres a reason why it has to be on the left, origanally if you had guests over and your sword was pointing right it meant you didnt trust them and it was direspectful yk. and the reason it should face up is because (if you get a real sword) it rusts and damages the blade if you put it face down.

The reason you put a swords blade up and have the handle on the left side, is because when it is facing down and handle on the right, it means it's war time as that is the position its in to easily grab, draw and cut, while up and to the left is for times of peace

Kenpachi is a title, not a surname, zaraki dont have surname so he uses kenpachi as his, but kenpachi is a title, and unohana is the 1st, and the rite of passage of the kenpachi inheritance requires one to kill the predecessor, its just how it is unfortunately.
Kenpachi Zaraki is are both not his names in the first place, Kenpachi is a title while Zaraki is the district where he came from

Kenpachi is a title given to the STRONGEST Soul Reaper, that means Kenpachi is stronger than Yamamoto.
Unohana gave the title of Kenpachi to the person named Zaraki, but this was a problem.
Unohana and Kenpachi are BOTH Kenpachi.
There can only be ONE Kenpachi.

I think people forget that Kenpachi is a title of the strongest of their generation, and is given after someone battles and kills the previous Kenpachi. So for Unohana who stepped away, and is the one who created the Kenpachi system to begin with, she essentially knows that Zaraki wonât ever accept defeat, and she would never willingly let him win, they need to fight to the death, because then it would be clear whoever is the strongest. Itâs pride. Also other things but thatâs spoilers, but mostly itâs a pride thing that itâs based on. Itâs like if a Boxer retires with the belt, the next champion is the champ, but he never beat the previous one so their title is tainted in the eyes of many.

I feel like you missed the point of Unohana vs Zaraki. Lemme take you back to OG Bleach for a bit (since it seems you either haven't watched it or forgot)
Episode 36 of the OG Bleach:
Hanatarou explains to Ichigo that 'Kenpachi' is a title earned by being the strongest shinigami (in swordsmanship) of their generation, earned by killing the previous 'Kenpachi'. And anyone with the title Kenpachi is the rightful captain of Squad 11 for as long as he knew (which we now know is since the very beginning of the Gotei 13). In the data books, Kenpachi #01 Unohana Yachiru Retsu decided to simply step aside and proceeded to learn healing techniques from Tenjiro (before he was promoted to Zero Squad) since noone was able to kill her and she had gotten bored since noone could match her since facing a random kid from Zaraki Province who was scarily skilled and wounded her chest (i.e Kenpachi #11, Zaraki)
Ofc they recognized each other immediately when he killed Kenpachi #10 Kiganjo, but both of them knew that because of how much they both were insanely addicted to fighting, if they DID fight, that neither would stop till one, or both, of them were dead, since it was for sure the best fight of their lives.
I won't say more coz that would be spoiler, but at any rate I beleive it will all be explained in next week's episode when Unohana decides to go all out. Just remember, Zaraki gets stronger every time he 'dies'. Why? I'll let the anime explain that.

the reason why one has to die is because Zaraki is a monster who only gets stronger with each near death experience, and Unohana is the only one who can do that. Given her past as a kenpachi, she's a monster who can only be tamed by death or by hundreds of years of calming down. Zaraki won't give up until he kills his opponent and Unohana is the same more or less. Though most of this is headcanon

it's dead simple unfortunately... Zaraki is a fucking beast so basically he can't stop himself once he get strong enough to surpass Unohana (which doesn't make much sense to be fair but... hey oh it's damn Tite Kubo so these dumb choices are unfortunately very common). Kyoraku knew it but what he didn't knew was that Unohana have already choose to sacrifice herself to make Zaraki bordeline invincible or at least that's what she is hoping. In this episode in particular you could hear some lines that implies what I'm saying... we will see next week how the fight will end.

Why? Because there both killers. Why did he make them crossblade? Because she is the only person who could train him at this point. And once the battle started no way they were both walking away.

You pretty much hit it on the head, Zaraki has always been subconsciously suppressing his power to make battles enjoyable. Unohana was the one who showed him the joy of battle. But he suppressed himself so much that even he doesnât know his power. The plan is to force him to unlock all of his potential slowly by pushing him to the verge of dying and forcing him to use that power.
It kind of makes sense given his personality and his thirst for great fights ..... But man that sounds like such a cop out way to make him become stronger in the narrative lol.
Unohana being super strong had some foreshadowing so its nice to see that now..... But man it annoys me to think that none of this stuff was ever brought up when Aizen was being so damn threatening that they had to rely on Ichigo and the boy had to lose his powers........ Like for real??? She couldn't have gone boss bitch mode earlier???đ

I was speculating why if she was THIS powerful she never contributed offensively in the previous Aizen battle or even in the Quincy invasion. She would have been a HUGE help so this lady BETTER have a good reason why she let all those people die when she could have contributed to the battles and possibly save lives đ¶

The reason for the comment "...one of you must die." is not solely due to the title of Kenpachi. Let me explain.
Shinsui is a really smart man. He stated that Kenpachi was a valuable asset that needed to be on the field. At this time there are actually two Kenpachi's, as the original was never actually slain. He is, at that moment, referencing both of them. He knows about Zaraki's whole 'you get stronger when you're on the verge of death' deal (a good way to look at it is being similar to Goku and Hulk). Aka he must get defeated in order to truly get stronger. Shinsui knows that the power of a Kenpachi on the field will be needed by the time the Wandenreich returns.
That stated, there are several reasons Unohana was chosen for Zaraki's training, all of which make sense considering the individuals involved.
--First: There is no one better suited readily available. It is known Ichigo can beat him, but he is currently up with Zero Division. Shinsui himself is probably the only other one that could reliable take Zaraki on, but he has First Division duties to perform and therefore can't dedicate himself to the inevitable long process.
--Secondly, Unohana is currently the strongest Shinigami in Soul Society. Just because she doesn't actively fight right now doesn't mean she has gotten weaker. Shinsui even admits that the two people he didn't want to fight were her and Old Man Yamamoto. That speaks volumes.
--Third, she knows healing techniques passed down by Zero Division. That's the reason for the comments from TenjirĆ when we first met Zero Division. So Unohana can 'bring Zaraki to the brink of death' multiple times to repeatedly get him stronger. Essentially they're 'killing' him and bringing him back on a loop, causing an uncapped increase in Zaraki's power.
--Lastly, Shinsui was looking at the long game. He knows that they are technically on a time-table for when the Wandenreich returns. With this plan, either Unohana will succeed in causing Zaraki to become stronger than her, now more powerful self, before the Wandenreich returns. Or she'll run out of time and have to actually kill Zaraki, as at that point she'd be the only one able to, so that she can come to the field herself.
As a side point, they're also hoping that during this continual process of powering Zaraki up, he'll be able to release his Zonpakuto. But that's more of a side objective.
All said, it's still a gamble. Cause there's no saying that with either of them on the field, they'd win. It's just the most logical course of action with the tools available.
Now you see why Aizen wasn't keen to fight Unohana and Kenpachi.
She heal zaraki everytime he almost die, the only one who can kill zaraki thousnd times,no doubt UNOHANA IS THE GREATEST.
