    Hollywood actress Minnie Driver is on a mission to find out more about her late father, Ronnie, and his family's background. Minnie's parents were not married, and Minnie only discovered when she was older that her father had a wife and another family all the time Minnie's parents were together. Minnie knows her father was awarded a medal for his role in the battle of Heligoland Bight during World War Two, but is shocked to discover that he apparently threw it away. She sets out to investigate why her father would relinquish such an honour. The trail leads Minnie to relatives she never knew existed, and she discovers a kindred spirit in the family.

    Minnie Driver has always seems like such a genuinely sweet person and this show seems to confirm that. I’m happy she was able to find answers.

      Maybe you decide from 1 of her grandfather's other siblings (not Maud) or perhaps a cousin of his

    I’m such a fan of this show. My own dad has gone 13-14 generations back with my family. I just have to give so much thanks to the men and women that devote their lives to history, engaging themselves in something that many would think unremarkable. Thank goodness for them as they connect the dots, do the research and value the importance of our collective heritages.

      more than anything - I wanted to know when “we” came from Ireland, Scotland and England to Canada (from where to where and why) - then I wanted to know as much as I could about as many of “us” as I could - so 1850’s thru 19teens (then once we were settled here thru to 2024) other family members may want to trace us back to the domesday records but I want to have stories to tell those younger than me (am 64 yrs) who didn’t know any folks older than their grandparents (my parents) - I had the privilege of knowing many of the generation born at the end of 1800’s - I’d rather know that my great grandfather was hard working (lumberman / farmer) and a bit of a scoundrel 😉🤫 every Saturday night they’d play cards sitting around farmhouse table - until Great Grandpa died it was assumed he was a an incredible player - turns out that from his chair (which only he sat in) he could see reflections in the kitchen window of everybody’s cards 🤣😂 would have loved to have been fly on the wall the first time the eldest son sat down to deal the cards and realized what was what 😂🤣 names places dates are really important but so are their lives - in Cnd 🇨🇦there are four generations ahead of me and two more after me - guess I better organize the notes photo copies and photos into the best story I can so there is something to give to those wee scoundrels still learning the difference between a club and a spade 🤣😂

    This is beautiful and well worth the effort but I have to wonder: does Henry wonder who his father is - or does he know?

      It's on Minnie's Wikipedia, and he's old enough now that he and his classmates can use the internet. So even if his father wasn't in his life, he certainly knows one way or the other. Not that it's any of our business, really.

      She's mentioned he knows his father, it's not that hard to google. I still don't understand why it's so important to you? It's a child you don't know and he has the right to his privacy. This show was about his ancestors because his mother is well-known, not about HIS personal life. Your comment is prying and frankly - creepy.

  • @Paul-lm5gv
    @Paul-lm5gv Před rokem

    I saw the whole series. Very well done. But here she says about her father "It would have been nice to talk to him about it all." The pictures clearly shows her with him when he was older and I wonder why she didn't talk to him about it? She also said he accompanied her at an awards dinner so they had an on-going father-daughter relationship. And what about her mother? I read on Wikipedia that Gaynor Churchward (née Millington) (1937-2021), was a fabric designer and former couture model. She could not shed any light on this? Too many unanswered questions I think.
