🚨I don’t not sew on commission🚨 - Jak na to + styl
Beautiful job! Do your measurements match the vintage patterns or do you make adjustments?
Gosh I forgot to mention I shortened the skirt a little. Apart from that I did leave the pattern unaltered. I sewed the waist seam at 1/2 inch instead of 5/8 just to give a tiny bit of ease for whatever blouse I might want to tuck in.
@@SewRenabeautiful ❤❤ I don’t even like wool (itchy) but this looks classy, classic, and elegant!
This suit is beautiful. In college, in the early 80s of Boston, I needed layers to stay warm. I found a discount fabric store that sold selvage clothing fabrics. I found beautiful navy wool with a large subtle plaid and made a late 50s boxy mens sport jacket. I still wear it 40 years later and everyone who sees it loves it but CANNOT believe that I (a man) made it. I’m self-taught as well, and it’s hard to explain to people how I learned. I can look at a pattern and I just know in my head how it goes together.
You described it perfectly!!! That’s how I feel about patterns. Also I love that you still have and wear your coat 😍😍!
Do you take commissions for sewing? I would love to add more 50’s mens suits to my wardrobe, but finding authentic pieces that are affordable is hard!
Props to you for making it work, it feels awfully rare to see more men who can make their own clothing.
@@azurelionheart No, I haven’t done any commissions for 30 years or more. Honestly, I hated the process of measuring and fittings plus I’m too critical of my own work and was never satisfied with the finished product.
This suit set is SO flattering on you!!! Both fabric color and the fit! Beautifully done. ❤️❤️❤️
Your content is so great! I feel like I never see any other vintage sewists sewing up the variety of fashions that you do! I love seeing suits being sewn because it makes me feel as though I can do it myself. You did an amazing job, thanks for this video!
I feel the same I love watching suits being made but I know I will never wear then asit never gets cold enough here in my region of Australia. I'd wear the jacket for maybe 2 hours in the morning and then be sweltering the rest of the winter day. 😓
This suit is beautiful! The colors are just stunning and the orange looks amazing on you. I also love the design of the jacket. It's so cool.
That suit is amazing! The pleats look spectacular, and the details and seaming on the jacket and sleeves… well, it’s just too pretty for words! Love your channel, your calm voice and excellent tips!
Your Suit is all that and more. It demands All the attention when you walk through the door. You can't make enough of this Suit.❤
Another fantastic outfit. Thank you for sharing. I am in love with the colour of that suit.
In high school we would make wool suits each fall to wear for homecoming. This was in small town Midwest in the 1980s. Many of us used those suits for 4-H fair entries and/or to enter into the Make It With Wool sewing contest.
That’s so cool I wish I had something like that in school.
Beautiful suit 🥰 love the color and your brown shoes are a perfect match 😍 😘
You were right, the thickness of the Wool really does give a lovely fullness to the pleats. Love this!
Thank you!!! I was so nervous once I started, especially when it came time to add the waistband. I was expecting it to be really bulky
Ok so now I have to add this to my list of things to sew.
The orange wool fabric is magnificent. Love the cut and style of the jacket. I just bought a vintage piece of fabric. I am inspired. And seeing your sewing gives me courage to try following a pattern and sewing.
Loving your videos and how you show your sewing up close. It really inspires me to get back in there and just do it. I enjoy sewing and historical fashion that is more ladylike. Your videos cause me to think I can do it too. Thank you for sharing!
I think this is absolutely beautiful! You are an amazing seamstress with great talent and skills. ...and this suit looks fantastic on you!
What a great color for fall. I love your gloves. I so wish we could go back to dressing like that; classy and feminine.
This suit looks beautiful on you! Thank you for braving the heat to model it for us!😊
❤️❤️ hahah thanks for watching. Luckily it was kinda cloudy this morning so it wasn’t too bad. I can’t wait for the trees in the park to get really pretty so I can get better footage
ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUITS EVER THE COLOR THE STYLE EVERYTHING WHAT GREAT TELENT LOOKS LIKE A THOUSAND DOLLAR SUIT
Thank you so much!! I enjoy making suits it’s fun to slow down and work on my technique.
This came out immaculate. That lining, marone
Wow, that colour looks so great on you! And I also loved the touches of brown in the lining and buttons (definitely needs a brown buckle if you get one). What a wonderful jacket shape - the way the half belt comes at the front is so cute.
Who cares about the weather when you look this good, hey? ❤
Oh work it girl!!
Those glasses - you make them and the outfit look 🔥
I love suits the most. These colors look great together.
Gorgeous! And I cant wait for more fall and winter wear 😊
I’m really hoping I can find more colorful wool to work with once I use up what I have.
Beautiful. I was hoping you would tie a scarf on your head. With the sunglasses and, of course, the suit, it would have definitely completed the outfit, in my humble opinion.
You make the most beautiful clothes!! Stunning!
This suit is so beautiful! I love this colour on you and the brown details and lining! The shape of the jacket especially is so pretty!!!
Thank you so much!!! I really love this pattern!
Stunning. I love that length of skirt
Wow so pretty 🤩 😊
I love this pattern, and you have a great teachers voice.
I really do love the style. I wished my body size would allow for me. But my mother sewed all her life . She also sewed all of our clothes while we were growing up . She was your body size . Thanks
You include such incredible sewing details in your videos! I find them so helpful because sometimes vintage patterns can be very hard ( for me at least) to follow.
Thank you so much! I’m glad my videos can be helpful. Sometimes the patterns assume you know certain things or that you have sewing books that you can reference.
You’re going to have to do another photo shoot once all the leaves turn….gorgeous colored suit!
I will! I’m going to try and get another suit done while I wait so I can take advantage of the foliage
As always so cute!! Such a lovely tailored coat. Love the bold orange color. Perfect for fall.
Wow the suit looks absolutely beautiful and stunning on you. ❤ I’m living for you content.

This outfit turned out beautiful!
Omg love , love , love … boning in the waist band ??? I need this in my life .
Yes! It’s really nice! without it the waistband tends to wrinkle or buckle. So when I make this style in denim or twill I always add bones.
You sucking me right into being a bobbin.. smh … I feel too old lbut your content is my jam❤️❤️❤️wool, vintage and hats 1000 ❤️s ..
You make all this delicious sewing look so easy. Lovely color and pattern.

Liked, shared all over and commented.
Great advice on the practice buttonhole and making sure your button fits well.
I just have to say that there is a method of doin darts were you backstitch into the seam. I always had problems with darts, and finally found this method from Mari Sews. She is also a fave of mine. Love your videos ❤
This orange wool is lovely! You’re suit turned out great!😊
Thank you 🥰💕

Gorgeous Serena!
Beautiful! You look like a Barbie Doll ❤❤❤
Thank you🥰😍
Hello,
I absolutely love the suit. Your work is top notched.
Thank you very much 🥰❤️❤️
I think it would be really cool if you bought or made a 1930s knitted skirt suit. They used to knit them because nobody had money during the depression. I've also seen the patterns as well as some antique skirt suits from that era on Etsy.
The suit is beautiful! I love your videos! You are a talented sewist
Thank you so much 🥰
Distinction. Class. Glamour. Fashion. Kindness. What *_don't_* you have in common with MM would be a shorter list.
Omg thank you so much 🥹🥹! That quote stuck out to me so much b/c I don’t know how many times I’ve been caught wearing the wrong thing for the weather because I fantasized about how the garment would look at said place as opposed to practicality.
I really love that wallpaper! I wish I had your eye for style.
This is another fantastic suit!
Thank you love 🥰! Suits bring me so much joy it’s the only thing I look forward to when I comes to autumn.
My grandmother had one in that color.
I bet it was STUNNING 🤩
Such beautiful work! You look amazing in that outfit! :)
Love your work, art, and passion❤
Thank you so much 💕 I really appreciate it
I made a wool coat in college. Way to go on a well made garment ❤
It’s such a lovely fabric to work with
@@SewRenaI love worsted wool best to work with but its so expensive
This suit is so pretty! I wish i was as talented as you are.
Thank you! It takes lots of practice I have no doubt you could be as talented or better💕
I was surprised to hear that Marilyn Monroe went to the May Co! I remember that dept store so well for the yrs I lived in SoCal. It wasn’t the highest end store but was nice enough but has been defunct for years. Still I only picture her going to Bullocks or Neumann Marcus or the Rodeo Drive stores. Love knowing she went to May Co!
(They had a bargain basement that was fun to shop in)
This was when she first started out. She only had one outfit and she told the photographer or her manager that she didn’t have clothes for New York so he gave her $75 to buy clothes and she only got suits 🤣 then when she stepped off the train she started sweating instantly. She had to ask the people In NY to buy her a dress and they went to a bargain store and got her a blue polka dot cotton dress with a red belt or sash I can’t remember.
This is Fabulous! Love your videos!! 😍
