- Hey there! I'm excited to share this week's cottage garden vlog with you. I've been busy refreshing my containers and pots with vibrant Summer colours - think bright oranges and terracotta shades.
But that's not all - I also cleared out one of my raised beds to make room for gorgeous cut flowers. I planted Zinnias I grew from seed, along with some cosmos and dahlias. And, of course, I couldn't forget to cut back my daffodil foliage!
Tune in to see what else is growing in my garden.
Oh, and by the way, the native Irish wildflower seeds I used are from connectingtonature.ie - I can't wait to see how they grow!

I swear, you wear some of the cutest jumpers. Just adorable.
She does! As I'm watching, curious if she makes any of them.❣️
Yes…where are these from?
The sound of the rain and the birds is magical. So peaceful and relaxing.
Garden is looking gorgeous. ♥
Aw, thank you, that my fave sound when I am stressed out, instant calm x
Good work on the vinyl vs mirrored glass, looks good. Garden is buzzing with life. Looking forward to hearing how the telly/tv appearance went....hope you had a great time and that your slot was not shortened!
Aw thanks Patricia, I forgot to update about the telly, but I did pin a link on last weeks Sunday garden video to watch it, I pinned it to the comment section x
@@DaintyDiaries Oh cool. Thanks!
I quite like the mirrored vinyl. You get the flowers at the bottom in focus and then a borrowed view higher up. Adds dimension to the garden. 🌸😀
The garden looks lush and lovely. Your overalls are always so cute.🩷
Thank you! 😊
O Catherine. Your garden makes my heart sing. A beautiful person and a beautiful garden. I need a cup a tea. 💜
Aw thanks so much ♥️ definitely time for a cuppa!
We here in Michigan in the U.S. went a month with no rain. Then 3 days of downpours! I have several 30 gallon barrels that I filled with rain. Now another 2 weeks of no rain so it's coming in handy. More rain coming starting Friday for a few days and will be collecting it again. My flower and veg gardens are behind due to the never-ending winter we had, followed by a hungry groundhog, and now a hot, dry period. Oh well, the joys of gardening. I loved hearing the sounds of rain and birds in your video. The mirrors look lovely.
Mother Nature really knows how to keep us on her toes x
The mirror frames look great and it's better than worrying about broken glass. It gives the effect you wanted and it's safer. The reflections are nice and hopefully the rain won't ruin them. Well done! All that soil! Lol you got work to do!
Lovely looking garden. When I have soil delivered the company asks that I mark where I want it in my driveway with an 'X', works every time. I'll be working on my garden clean up over the next few days: my peonies are done blooming.
I so enjoyed your video. I love seeing all of your flowers, You are such a beautiful lady inside and out with such a sweet personality. And so talented in everything you do. I will keep watchin and you keep smilin.. Love from over the sea.🐞🦋🐝
We are suffering a mild drought here in Midwest USA. I have two rain barrels and they have been a God-send! I highly recommend catching the rainwater. Plants are happier with that water as well versus the tap…who knows what is in that water!!😅. Love your (and miss Karen’s) garden video’s 😊
Yes, they really do love the rain water! X
I’m in California and tap water contains chlorine and plants do better without it. Even if you water by filling up a watering can and let it sit for ten minutes the chlorine will evaporate so that’s better than directly spraying the plants. But absolutely rain is best. ❤
RAIN .. Can you send it my way? I collect water but it is already gone. We had 5 minutes of rain today (about 7 drops 😅). So the barrels are still very empty. My roses are blooming at the moment. Your front garden bed is so beautiful - I love it! And all those barrels - it will be amazing! Love from Germany 🤗
Rain ☔️ blooms 🌸🌺 happy birdies 🐤🐦 n B’s 🐝🐝🐝 = Happy Place 😌🙏🙏🙏
Awww x
We had 22 days without any rain here in Michigan, US. It's terrible to have the heat and no rain. Your garden looks fabulous.
I have learned that some glazed pots never dry out enough for the plants. I have some inside and I hardly ever give the plants any water. I love terracotta pots, even those with a glazed outer surface.
Aaaah the abundance and glory, your garden looks magical Catherine ✨️🌹🌻🌷🪻🌱✨️
Your garden is beautiful! Seeing your nasturtiums reminded me of when one of my sons was about four. Our neighbor asked him what he ate for dinner. He replied, “Bones and flowers.”. I had to explain we ate spare ribs and salad with nasturtiums in it. It gave me a chuckle.
Aaaa loved this 🤍🫶🏼 I met a lady on a walk the other day and she took me back to her garden and gave me some of those orange flowers near to your sweet peas! How lovely I’ll have to get the planted 🧡
Aw that is so sweet, that is why I love garden people, they always give you some plants x
@@DaintyDiaries I know 🥹 I literally just met her on a walk and she invited me round! Her garden was beautiful 🤩
I love that you are willing to try planting things that might not be “perfect” for the season. It helps me to feel better about experimenting for my tiny garden!
Oh there is always room to experiment! There’s no set way to do things really 🥰 that’s what the best thing about it is
My dear Catherine your garden looks amazing.
Loved the rain, sounded wonderful. Loved the song as you pulled weeds.
You’ve inspired me to do more in my courtyard even though the sunlight is not a full 8 hrs, I’ve planted squash , tomatoes, bell pepper and burp-less cucumber in pots and on Plant dollies for easy movement. Tomatoes and one squash plant seems to be doing ok…lots of herbs, they do well …
I just watched a gardener said Sterling from the bottom in pots is better as watering from the top doesn’t get water to the roots… some I e put pot saucers on some of my plants.
Well great video as usual. I saved a honey bee today so it oils not get stepped on, plus I have a shallow plate that they can land on and get a drink. My water fountains are a haven for finches, doves, blue jays and a few others. Hummingbirds love them too.
Have a great weekend.❤❤❤❤
Garden is beautiful. Love hearing the rain on your umbrella. Everything tidy. Pots are so pretty. Can't wait for your "barrel garden". Enjoy your week.
You too, have a great week ahead x
Similar weather situation here in Pennsylvania. We finally got a good rain this past Monday so at least the grass isn’t completely brown. Time to research rain barrels!
Catherine what about taking the mirrors into your shed ? living in the northern climates I generally took all my decorative elements and covered all the furniture. Only way it kept it all in great shape for most things we owned for 25 years. Now in the desert and urban living in bad health I grow minimal things that work. I miss green flowers and acreage so thank you for sharing yours. I see your pile of lovely compost you are digging up 😘God bless
Love the sound of the rain
me too xx
When you wash pots in sink use the water out of your bowl to water pots , washing up water want hurt them. ❤
I had a small start of a Shasta Daisy last summer. It has exploded into a super full plant, buds on getting fuller but no ready to open! 🤩
We haven’t had much rain in Michigan either. But the day we had a day trip to Holland, Mi, it rained all day while we were gone. I love the color in your garden. If I can figure out a way to send you a picture of my balcony garden I will. Keep gardening.
Wow! Im impressed with the "glass". See how long it lasts.good job for now.❤
Thank you! 😊
Your garden looks beautiful, from rainy west of Ireland 🇮🇪💙💚
Some rain today isn't it?
@@DaintyDiaries we have had amazing weather, but does always rain 💙
Your not afraid to prune, good job.
Your garden is so pretty. Love it. I love the mirrors they look so nice. 😊🇨🇦
The tweeting of the birds in the background brought an overall calm to my fraught day x
I do love a bit of bird song to relax, hope you feel better soon x
Garden beautiful. You do a great job of it. I am in Northern Ireland and roses even more behind than yours. Its now the 23 June and my buds still haven't opened. The cold start to Spring didn't help and where I am it never stops raining. Keep up the good work.
I have my first sign off Tomatoes growing. I am so excited. Things are finally starting to take off.
Aw yay! Love to see it x
Here in the south of the Netherlands we have now gone nearly 40 days without any rain. It is quite worrying. The garden still looks very good though! 💜🪻☂️
Oh no 😮 I hope you get some rain soon!! 🤞 thanks for stopping by 🩷
Your yard is so beautiful. Peonies are my favourite
Taking a break today from my garden, and it’s pouring rain with thunder and lightning as I watch this. My roses bloomed early then got bit by frost. Only one hasn’t recovered. Your garden is even lovely in the rain!💖
I do love the sound of pouring rain x glad your roses have recovered
Wow, that mirror vinyl is amazing. Great solution.. hey I like the mirrors with the wavy, reminds me of old glass.
Peonies are my favorite!
I do need to starting collecting rainwater too
Has to be done with this heat!
I enjoy your garden videos so much. But I love your happy cheerful presence. And girl I can certainly relate to the poofy hair. Humidity is not my friend. But at my age, I just go with it. Peace
I kinda feel like a lioness with the frizz, or a garden goddess lol xxx
@@DaintyDiaries That's hysterical, I like them both. Gonna borrow.
The mirror is still pretty. Just call it your Monet Mirror.
Love watching you preparing for spring 🌼 here in South Africa we are in winter. I am busy mulching and preparing the ground for summer 🌞. You make me very excited for spring.
Eeek exciting stuff!!
Still catching up slowly but surely on every one of your videos....lol. You are so stinking cute. ❤❤❤
Aww thanks so much 🩷🩷
Hi Catherine , always look forward to your videos, both gardening and craft ones( even tho I’m hopeless at crafts), you are so inspirational. I too was reading about watering your garden less. Apparently watering sparingly makes plants produce stronger roots, that will seek out water going deeper in the soil.
Aw nice, thanks for sharing, that's what I was trying to say but my brain wasn't working LOL, Iv definitely noticed this year, they are a bit more tolerant to less water x
Hello, Cathrine I love all your flowers. We are to get rain tonight and most of tomorrow so excited for it. Have a blessed day
Ha you have a new broom!
Always delightful to watch you work in the garden. Sorry the mirror didn’t work out. Still looks cool. I only plant a few daffodils that stay small because of the cleanup. I love the blooms but not the after part. My roses are all blooming. Hope yours do too.
Hi we have 7 water tuts and we only live in a small bungalow 😂anyway we get lots of rain which helps a great deal to water our garden. We even have one on our shed.
The frames are so lovely! And those zinnias look so strong 💪 well done! My sweet peas are doing great height/foiliage wise but no flowers to cut yet. I noticed Karen had already had some to cut, can't wait ❤
My second batch is only flowering this week, so yours are on the way too x
Doling out that huge amount of soil around your gardens, you are going to have some strong 💪 arms, Catherine! Enjoy yourself! Looking forward to seeing the wine barrels planted up. You have great vision for your gardens.
Re: rainwater…do you have downspouts into rain barrels to collect the rain that falls on the roof? We have a waist-high barrel at the front garden and one at the back. They collect an amazing amount of water.
Yes, my plan is to get some in the front as I have more space, and disguise them amongst the barrel planters x
The mirrors look great! Thanks for sharing your lovely garden 🐞
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for your inspiration
I kinda like the muted. Looks good.
Happy Sunday’s when you do the gardening Catherine so lovely to hear the birds too goodluck with the barrels it’s so exciting growing things 🤩💜
Funny how similar your weather is to here in Columbus Ohio. Makes it easy for me to apply your advice to my own garden.
You are really good at what you do.
As always a lovely friendly vlog…here in Gloucestershire we’ve had the same sort of weather scorching then a deluge… Mad weather x
I’m gloucester too! x
I love the sound of rain and use a light thunderstorm Bluetooth as a sort of meditation thing to put me off to sleep at night... Its amazing how we are in the garden with our weather awareness, qnd kow our flowers and plants needs.. aways lovely.
Me too, LOVE the sound of he rain x
I really like the mirrors!
I feel your pain on the lack of rain. It's parched here in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. and the grass crunches beneath my feet. I've been watering my potted flowers and flower beds like crazy to keep it all alive. I started filming an outdoor video 3 weeks ago, did some traveling and now, when I finish my video, it's going to look totally different out there.
Nice job on the mirror vinyl. Even if it's not ideal, it's a decent temporary fix.
That's for sharing your beautiful garden in the rain! 🌧️ 🌺 🌱
Wow girl your garden is the closest to the garden of eden i will have in my life. Beautiful👌👌👌👌
Ask and you shall receive looks like you got your rain the plants will be happy🌧️💐☔️
Yes, and got lots more rain this week too x
The reflection of the flowers looks good , yes it’s no mirrors but it’s safe 🤗. The sound in your garden is beautiful plus the rain It’s just what I have all night on CZcams so I can sleep 🥰.
Excited to see the barrels filled they are gorgeous.
Watching this while the storm is coming, the sky is so dark 😳 .
Take care x
Storm is gonna break up this heat now 🤞🤍
But they still look great !
Beautiful garden. I always get some ideas and motivation 🥰🙏
I'm so glad! x
Love the faux mirrors! Garden is looking good.
The mirror looks ok but if it doesn’t wear well what about mirror tiles ? may work out cheaper than a mirror and easier to cut to shape with a glass cutter. I’m in rural north Cornwall and the rain keeps passing us buy , the rest of the UK seems to be getting heavy downpours and apart from a couple hours of very light misty rain , not a drop. I loved the bit where it rained on your video just listening to the pattering of rain , not heard that for 6 weeks, gardeners are never happy though😂😂❤️
Mirror tiles could definitely work too! Aw can never win can we 🤣🤣 thanks for stopping by Lynda xx
The mirror final look’s vinyl and is safer. I love your garden, so peaceful. Have a lovely week Catherine 😊
Thanks so much Jo 😊
Great job 🌱🪴
Delightful!
I like the mirrored vinyl as it gives a more wavy, antique mirror look. I’ve planted loads this year so I’ve been watering a lot. Most of the plants are Virginia natives so I hope next year they’ll tough it out if we continue to be dry. I’m considering a rain barrel, too. We’re likely be seeing more and more very dry years. Sad😢
Love watching your videos! Keep ‘em coming! ❤️
Hopefully your plants make it through! 🩷
How beautiful your Garden is🌺🪻
🌸🌷🌻🌼 Mother Nature heard
You….🌧️🌈💧
We are very dry here in Wisconsin! The established plants are doing good so far.. but hopefully we will see rain soon. Hose water just isn't the same as rain water.
I hear ya, they adore the rain water x
I'm wondering if your Peony is 'Bowl of Beauty'??? Your garden is looking so lovely, 🥰
Love the overalls!
I luv those Mirrors... just gorgeous on the wall. SWEET COTTAGE FEELING. I've old mirrors here & there on my back fence in my garden🌞🐞🦋
🌸🪻🌾
That sounds fab Debbie 🩷 yeah they add some nice dimension to the garden! Thanks for stopping by xx
I like the some of the pots you put the plants in. They look like they’re made by a artisan. I have gone to a couple sites where they make their own pots but they are always out 😢 I like the look of the mirrors , good job !
Loved seeing your lovely garden 🥰
Thank you so much 😊
So cute 🎉
Leave it for the bees.
Your garden is just the loveliest! You have the greenest thumb! I remember what your garden started out as and now what it has become is just stunning! You can see all your hard work! Our summer here doesn't start until June 21st, Prince Williams Birthday! 🤣😂
So many blooms! The close up shots of the flowers are amazing. What a difference trimming back the bulb foliage makes. Cannot wait to see the barrels in action. Hope you get rain soon. We need some here as well.🐝🌺🌦
The trick is in the trimming!!
good job on the mirror fix..so sorry your's got broken :( garden is looking amazing x
Thanks so much Lisa 😊
Remember you can use your washing up water etc. for the plants!
This is a great tip, thanks for sharing with the community x
My hair frizzes in humidity also 🥵. You have created a lovely little slice of paradise with all that natural beauty 🐦🐝🌻🌷🪴
So nice of you, thank you xxx
Hi angel,my roses are bursting out, lots of buds,my dahlias are bumbling along teasing me 😅😂,the carnations my pops planted have gone mental in bloom,so it's all looking good at the moment. I have 3large water butts,I'm down to a third in one now of water so having to re use water from the tap to water my plants because of the hose pipe ban 😭😭🤣,I am too watering them every other day the poor buggers look like they are gagging for a drink it's been crazy hot in Cornwall, they said it was gonna rain so I got all my buckets and bowls out to catch the water and it was just a quick shower was gutted 🤣🤣🤣.
Can't wait to see your barrels planted up, much love...😘😘🥰🥰
Wow your garden sounds so bountiful 😍😍
💚💚💚💚❣️
Your garden is gorgeous!
You are so kind!
I like the mirrors. You’re being too critical! The garden looks so colorful.❤😊
Thank you! 🤗
Can you share a best of of dungarees?❤ I love the one with the flower pattern and the sage green sorry if i missed where they are from!
Hey here is the patterned ones rstyle.me/+Wm129RPRnZRI9fq3ow6lGw the other are Lucy and yak
Looks great. Your reflection of your sweet garden is evident and it works.
Hi Catherine. Your videos are so relaxing and lovely to watch. Because I'm a newer subscriber, I've been watching some of your past videos and solo travel vlogs too. Your channel has become one of my favorite CZcams channels to watch. 😊🌼
Awwww so happy you found me and that you are enjoying my older videos! X Thank you x
@@DaintyDiaries Yes, you're welcome. Thank you.💝
Your Crocs! The neon green in it is so cute. I’m so jealous that you have no mosquitoes 😂 Definitely allows for more gardening time.
Ty. Awesome n productive vid. 🌱
Garden joy. 🌸🌺
Your garden is looking lovely and maturing nicely, Catherine.💕💕💕 I've planted lavender in containers, hoping they get enough sun to keep blooming.
Oh lavender will smell amazing in containers! X
everything looks lovely. thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Garden is BEAUTIFUL
So creative! Love it!
Thank you! 😊
You're so good at keeping things trimmed up. Good job. Lorraine
Love your plants from seeds, mine never do well . Thanks for sharing !
