  • There's a lot of excitement surrounding what quarterback LaNorris Sellers could do for Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football program in 2024. There's a growing belief that if he develops overtime and has some other factors go his way, he could do special things in Columbia both from a team and individual standpoint. Which freshman record could be in danger as Sellers prepares to take the field as the Gamecocks' starting quarterback? Andrew talks about the record and LaNorris' path to breaking it, Beamer's recent comments on the extra work the offensive line has put in in the month of May, and the one trend that must continue for South Carolina's baseball to take down the LSU Tigers in the SEC Tournament later tonight!

Todd Ellis was surrounded by a very good offensive line. A run and shoot offense that rarely employed tight ends. He had backs like Harold Green , Mike Dingle. Receivers like Sterling Sharpe , Ryan Bethea and others. A relentless blitzing defense led by a lot of guys on steroids who would test the NFL waters. This defense created turnovers and got off the field. Ellis was possibly the worst running QB in modern Gamecock history. The advantage Sellors has is that he is simply a better talent with at least an extra game on the schedule. Possibly 2 if a bowl game. Also they don't play defense like they did. 86 had a record of 3-6-2 and were constantly trying to score points because they were behind. I do believe Sellors will break yardage record. But this is an unfair comparison because of all of the combined factors. 86 schedule was also a gauntlet. Opening with Vinnie Testaverde, Don Majkowski , Georgia , Clemson , Nebraska, VA Tech , NCSU , Wake , FSU , ECU and others. Todd was made out to be the star , but in reality it was the players around him. Sellors talent is night and day compared to Ellis. Sellors also will probably be have two extra games in an era that is much more conducive to offense. I could see USC having 500 yard against Old Dominion. If this line can get push against SEC opponents, this team has the potential to be very good. I'm glad you brought this topic up , because it diverged my thoughts to explore other areas. I believe USC is creating an outstanding nucleus for the future. Iam most concerned about player retention beyond this year. I sincerely hope that Logains will employ a simplistic offense that our guys can execute with a great deal of success as opposed to having a lot of complicated stuff that result in penalties, turnovers ,and miscues. Let me digress to USC Baseball. Moments ago ,USC just hit a grand slam to take a 4 run lead. However LSU has hit 2 back to back doubles , scratched for a run , and chased USC's starter. We are the home team and i hope can win. No bigger fan than me. Go Gamecocks. I would love to win this tournament, but I'm ecstatic that we will be in the NCAA tournament. I love this team. LSU is rallying and it's 5-3.

I love my GAMECOCK FOOTBALL team all day everyday. But let's look at reality here. We have a hard schedule thus coming football season. Yes we do have fire power. I'm saying to my GameCock football team. This year we have to be with the shirts this year, because all the team we are up against gonna bring it.

I would agree with you in the bunt stuff. However, as decimated as our pitching is we have to play loose swing the bats and score a shitload of runs. Please don't flip your top. At this point USC has little to lose. Both teams have had to play that extra game and I'm expecting a softball score. It's currently 5 off with LSU coming up in the 5th. I ❤️ love our baseball program as much as i do our football program. Regardless of today's outcome I'll be just as passionate the next game we play. LSU has just gone up 6 to 5 off a solo homer. Our guys must swing the bats and outscore this team.

I think we’d have to be in some “Shoot-Outs” for Sellers to break the Record…
If Robby is out there gettin mop-up duties he probably doesn’t get the Record 🤷‍♂️

Todd was 3-6-1 in 1986. So, breaking the record is of little consequence if we end up 6-6 or less.

Around the 3:50 mark you go off the rails and start some praise fest of Lowgains. Our offense did nothing last year against any opponent w a pulse. Most of the routes were behind the LOS...I particularly enjoyed watching his throw to a big guy like Harbor behind the LOS. Until he proves anything, praising Lowgains makes you look like a water carrying homer and a silly one at that. Lowgains was available for a reason....wore out welcome in the NFL. He was hooked up w a loser, Gase, that is currently not coaching anywhere. Gase drug him along w him to a few other stops....likely bc no good OC wanted to hitch his balloon to Gase. He went to his alma mater, the only place that would create a pay check for him. He was literally fired from every job he's had.
