As a kid, Me & I was one of my favourite songs, so it's still a strong sentimental favourite. It's very clever and one of their best lyrical compositions. "Sometimes when I'm mad, there's a part of me that seems to be a little sad; sometimes when I scream, there's a voice in me that says 'you shouldn't be so mean'...". It's just so much more evolved than their earlier material. Mature, intelligent, refined. And the synth fade-out was one of the most amazing things I had ever heard musically in 1982. Mark nailed it on this one, a rock-solid ABBA 9. 🤗

One of my favourite Abba songs. One of the best, from the greatest.

At least with this song they bring and introduce us to 80's! Heavy synthesizer riffs, tom tom drums even using vocoder. It's almost like Benny demonstrated his new Yamaha GX-1 synthesizer (released in late 70's) They never stood still or stick to 70's and didn't follow the trends, they created them! Notice key change and back to original at the end, which is unusuall.

I agree with Mark. I give it a 9. Maybe a little too long, but I like the synths and actually like the fade out with it's slight change in melody. I never skip it. :))

Actually not that long just about 4.30 min.

Frida has as much lead songs as Agnetha (both have 25). But a lot of them are at Super Trouper and The Visitors. You will hear some great Frida leads in the future reactions. Can't wait for Our Last Summer which comes after the next one (Happy New Year).

Interesting that verses Fridas vocal, the chorus Agenthas high notes can hear louder 'I don't think I'm different.' Same in Andante andante (like 'make me sing..').

I like the song a lot, but I also agree that is probably longer than it should be. The synthesizer sounds a bit new-age electronic, kinda like Jean-Michel Jarre, he was big in Europe in the late 70s, maybe he was an influence, but I’m not sure. ABBA does get much better with synth in songs like “Lay All Your Love on Me" and “The Visitors“. ✌️

I agree it's overlong and rather repetitive. It's too heavy on the synths as well. Benny repeats it on Lay All Your Love On Me which is a better song. 6-7 on the Abba scale is about right.
There is a live singing video of the song on the Dick Cavett show.
