Made lots of since bro I was confused years ago just like you but to be honest it’s best to just go ahead and grab that USDOT and MC together that way you don’t need to go back for anything else like you said. I’m sure you just helped a lot of people out with how simple this is!
I'm in!! I've been a company driver for the same company for 22 years, while raising my kids. Now it's time to do what I've always wanted to, have my own truck. Thanks for the info, I'll be back!
Thanks man def appreciate your content, would love to see a video with recommendations on how to grow your trucking business in the current market and whether or not you think it’s a wise move to purchase a second or third truck when freight rates are relatively lower than the previous years. Would also like to hear how long it took for you to generate and see a profit after you were granted authority and got your truck as well as how long it took you to start the business itself. More specifically if you had to cover any of the fixed or variable expenses out of pocket for a while before you were able to turn a profit when you first started out. Thanks
I'm new to the hotshot game or trucking industry all I was looking for was to connect with someone that has knowledge about what I'm perusing AWESOME JOB DAVE.💯Prolific
Shit, I'm driving a 26ft box truck under a lady who just started her business and its a rental truck. We went to the rental spot together, so 👀 know. Got me thinking now🤔. I'm gonna do my own thing, instead of this 20% a load, I can take in 100% with a rental.
I wanna get the MC just in case i wanna go cross country, which ill pay $300 but now it asks me for an arbitration program which is $180 a year😕, great video! Thats why i asked cause you explained very well😎
If anyone wants to discuss truckers insurance, I can answer all of your questions. For CA truckers, I have some exclusive insurance companies available!!
Great content. No one seems to answer this question I have tho. My question is once you get your DOT/MC/Authority do you have to go get your truck right away and get insurance? Or can you just let your authority sit and get some age before you go get your first truck?
Its crazy...so many different explanation and different rules...i even spoke with people from compliance departments and they say i need a mc# even though im not crossing state line...i have a 16ft box truck...smh...feels like im throwing away money for insurance and may not need to...more research i will be doing
Here in Indiana, MC isn’t required if not crossing state lines. Once you complete the MCS-150 and answer the questions according to your type of business, they (FMCSA) will tell you what further requirements you have
I MISSPELLED THE NAME OF MY DBA WHILE FILING FOR MY USDOT APPLICATION,THE PROCESS ALREADY WENT THROUGH. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT TO CORRECT IT? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS, BLESSINGS TO YOU FROM NEW ORLEANS.
Hey! I see a lot of trailers and tractors with IN plates. What does IN state offer that other states don't? What laws/rules are different? If you understand what I'm trying to ask.
So my question for you sir is do you need a new Dot for a second unit. Or can I use the same DOT number? And just register the second unit with fmcsa? Thanks an advance.. oh and if I have to register a second unit with the same number do I have to pay a fee?
Put it like this, I was wondering why I Just paid $300. Didn't know it came w Both, We In There, Now I Guess, I Just Gotta wait till it's Approved? I already bought the truck and getting it Together & Got Insurance Quotes to know the Ball Park. Anything else I Need to know? or Try and Do Now? Open to Suggestions.
So how about I don’t own a truck but I do have my trucking business license nw my biggest question is that can I get dot number (which one) also is it possible for me to rent one until I’m able to buy my own
Hello! I keep reading that the DOT and MC number is a one time fee but my dad says he needs to pay $400 every two years for his DOT. It doesn’t make sense. He has a truck that is over 10,000 pounds but he does not cross state lines so he doesn’t need an MC. I’m so confused. The FMCSA is so confusing
Do u have to be insured for ur DOT to be active? What if i don’t have a truck right now but expecting to get one soon. Will my DOT be active and have like DOT credit?? Thanks
Hi David , thanks again sharing this information . I just need to know that before applying USDOT/MC number do I need to register my company with a specific name .I am new owner operator . Thanks . God bless you
I live in Indiana too and I'm starting a haul away service with a pick up truck and 10,000 # trailer. Do you think I still need a INDOT # if I don't drive on any highways?
Good day brother. I operate a to truck company with a DOT intrastate #. I would like to transition into the semi trucking, my question is, can I simply update my info on FMCSA or do I need to reapply all over and get a new DOT #?
You do a great job of breaking this information down Dave. I can't believe someone would give you a thumbs down. More power to ya!!!😁
People with intra state#
@@pericochief i dont understand. Could you please explain for somebody like myself that is sincerely trying to learn. Thank you boss.

Thank you for this ! We’re a start up company in Indiana so it’s helpful opposed to watching the truckers from GA due to the differences in laws
Hello, MR David McGill: Thank you for breaking down the finer points of the DOT Number distinctions.
My brother you are a very good teacher. This is the best I've ever heard it explained.
I'm in!! I've been a company driver for the same company for 22 years, while raising my kids. Now it's time to do what I've always wanted to, have my own truck.
Thanks for the info, I'll be back!

So basically you said if I'm intrastate, I don't need a mc number? Am I correct?
I applied and received my usdot number but still waiting on MC number and not sure what is next.
They should have emailed you a list of what you need and go get a truck and insurance
I'm new to the hotshot game or trucking industry all I was looking for was to connect with someone that has knowledge about what I'm perusing

I looked this all up but thanks for the simplification, definitely motivational.
How does it work if I'm getting loads with a rental?
Shit, I'm driving a 26ft box truck under a lady who just started her business and its a rental truck. We went to the rental spot together, so 👀 know. Got me thinking now🤔. I'm gonna do my own thing, instead of this 20% a load, I can take in 100% with a rental.
