Through trial and error, I figured out how to fix or repair or bypass the Ice Full issue on an Igloo portable ice maker. This seems to be a common problem regardless of name brand. I figured out how to bypass the sensor or eye to make the machine think the beam was always clear. Hopefully this works for you as well. - Jak na to + styl
After reading everyone's comments. The fix is easy. The black sensor is the switch, the LED emitter must have failed (yellow LED). 2 wires going to the black pickup sensor switch from the black sensor, red and blue. The red is power, but that red also feeds two other reed switches, so don't cut that wire. The blue wire is the control wire for the sensor to the motherboard. All you have to do is cut the blue wire and splice it onto the power red wire. What I did was strip some insulation off the red wire, cut the blue wire, then wrap the blue wire to the red. Add some electrical tape, and done.
omg thank you it turns out that the sensors were dirty its finally working! never knew you had to clean the sensors!
Cutting the two wires on the right side (IR receiver) then soldering them together did the trick! Thanks for posting your video.
Would the black LED be the IR receiver?
@@HaloWolf102 Yes it would, and after cutting the wires, you have to solder the ones coming out of the circuit board together (NOT the ones from the sensor). This forces the signal level at the board to that of the sensor working normally (uninterrupted).
I didn't want to interfere with the wiring. I did a test of the transmitting diode and the receiving diode according to the camera and found that the beam was deflected. Thanks to the expansion and temperature changes inside the device. It was fixed by backing the receiving sensor with a pad. The ice maker is now working flawlessly.
Great video and much appreciated. I have a Frigidaire and very similar. I was able to "fix" mine by only cutting the black and red wires going to the black eye. Then pigtailed them together at the circuit board plug. I didn't have to do anything to the reflector eye.
Thanks again for getting me in the right direction.
Worked perfectly by-passed the sensor, like you mentioned and started making ice immediately, Thanks for your help!!!!!
You’re welcome
Omg you telling me about the laser light possibly needing cleaning got me to try doing that first, and it worked! I know it wasn't the fix you were showing off, but still, thank you sm!
This was perfect! Thanks for the quick fix. The left sensor wires on mine were long enough to reach the right side. No extra wire required! Working great again.
Glad to hear it.
Legend. Fixed! Just pulled out the wires (black and red) out of the black sensor and put them together, protected them and it works. Thanks.
Great! I’m glad to hear.
Aren't the sensor wires blue and red?
@@TurboNorm what ever two wires that look like they are going to your dark eye sensor are the two you need to solder together
This worked well. Now, my tubing is seeping water, but that's fixable.
I was about to toss my unit in the trash. But then I saw this video, followed along exactly, and now my machine works great again. Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome
Worked perfect, I just ran the wires from the plug to the black eye plug at the board. No jumper needed, nice and clean.
Thanks for your help i purchased this ice maker for my daughter last year and it stopped working in like two months they told me to reset it and it started working on and off so i purchased another one for her and because of yiu i now jave a ice maked for myself, this trick worked perfectly and it to 10 minutes!!
Great video. Easy to understand. Fixed mine today. Thank you for making this video!
You’re welcome!
Worked a treat, I didn't use any wire
I found the red and blue from left
Actually reached to the right side once cut.
Thanks so much
Nice ice again
Would be nice to see an image of the fix. How did you connect to the red and blue on the opposite side?
@@TurboNorm you dont even have to worry about reaching, you can combine the wires close to the circuit board when you realize which ones are going to the sensor that looks the darkest
Was about to trash mine but just fixed mine with this! Thanks dude!
Thanks for posting this. I was having this error. I saw the sensors and thought that it was the issue. I took a damp paper towel and buffed both of them. That worked. Makes me curious as to whether or not the sensors get oxidized over time and just need to be buffed.
Glad it worked.
Thank you for the tip, followed your instructions and worked perfectly!
Thanks for the info my ice maker was doing the same thing so i try it and its working perfect now 👍🏾
Great vid 👍 Exactly what happened to my Russel Hobs, only issue I had was there's 3 wires going to the dead sensor and I cut the wrong one (must've been the earth and discovered it didn't seem to go anywhere) but after reconnecting it and using the correct 2 wires, job done, problem solved!
Thank you, in 10 minutes it was back to work.
Thanks for posting this video. My model has red and black cables on the left side and blue and white cables on the right side. Both are connected to the same plate clip. I cut everything 10 cm before the clip and wired all red and white cable and all black and blue cable and got the same result. Regards
Easy Peasy... Works like a charm... I'm glad I had the same model... No guessing witch wire was what... 5 minutes and I'm making ice...
Sweet!
Thanks to you, I've fixed my machine
Dude this worked bro. I definitely appreciate it!!
Worked!. I just pulled the red/blue from the left side, spliced them into the other side. Not sure why there's a need for extra wire.
Thank you very much for your video! It's solved my problem instantly! Much appreciated!
Thank you! I followed what you did, except just used the wire i cut going to the left and connected directly the the right side.
Thank you for the advice, Everything works
be alive and well!
Your info saved my igloo ice maker, thank you for the video! Woohoo
I have the "self cleaning" Igloo which I use daily and often. As such, it requires cleaning more frequently, e.g. about once a month or so. I've noticed the ice maker will stop working if a cleaning is needed, indicated by the "ice full" button lighting up. After cleaning, it starts making ice again as usual.
That's interesting. I don't think my older is advertised as having self-cleaning, but in one of the suggested "fix tips" for this issue (hold down the Select button for 10 seconds), mine seemed to enter some sort of cycling mode - maybe the unadvertised cleaning feature? Unfortunately, it didn't fix my ICE FULL problem so I think I'm at the cutting wires point.
I will try this . Thank you.
You're the man!!!!!!
You’re my hero.
Thanks!
Thanks for help ! Great video :)
Thank you mizzuz happy again
It work s..thankyou brother
do you actually know what sensors would work in it if i wanted to replace them .. i definitely know the emitter is working, but the black receiver was faulty . but would like to fix it properly i have tried one or two different receivers but i cannot get them to work, make they are the wrong frequency .. any ideas most welocme ..thanks
On different models, the circuit board is different. I have a Model ICEB26HN55. You just need to follow the different wires to see which goes where.
Mine's working OK now. Only one wire Blue/Black needed to be joined up. The other (Red) was power and was the same on both sides. No harm to cut/join the red wire, just not needed.
Does this not do the same thing as holding down the select button for 10 seconds or so?
Tks i just cleaned the sensors it worked i was about to throw i😅😅t out
Hola buenos días tengo una hielera igioo que me hace hielo en la tercera descarga dice que está full que puede ser
I have a igloo ice103 model ice maker. Do you know where i can get a replacement part for the plastic tray that fills up with water that turns into ice cubes?
No clue. Sorry
I did this and it worked fine but the error came back the next day ?
How its disconnected to the senor ? 😮
Wow, mine lasted 2.5 years and is now giving me the dreaded Ice Full light when it's empty. I noticed other comments about simple cutting the blue and red wires on the receive sensor side and connecting them together and it actually worked. Is that essentially the same thing that you've done electronically with your gray wire? BTW, Your unit even looks exactly like the same model I have that just died. I tried all the other suggested fixes (cleaning, pressing buttons for 10 seconds to bypass the sensor, testing the tiny micro switches (both were good), shining an IR light at the receive sensor, and nothing worked, so I guess I'm ready to cut some wires.
I think it’s essentially the same thing, but not sure.
@@smitteninthemitten3777 It's not. I tried it and it didn't work. Your way worked. I'm up and in operation again. But I did figure out a different technique to do the same thing. I can't post the video here, but I'll post to my page and let you (and others) know.
It was the sensor for mine I’m not machine savvy like this 😅I got mine working by taping up the clear covering
Please explain
I have a whirlpool ice maker, looks almost exactly like this but the wire colors are slightly different.. if you're looking at it from the back, the left side has red and blue wires going to a photo/ir sensor (and brown and blue but they don't go all the way there). On the right side there's red, yellow and brown going to the black sensor/ir emitter. I'm not sure which ones to cut and join.. might wait until I can find a manual or diagram online, unless anyone else has experience with the whirlpool model
I have one similar to the video but still hesitating cutting wires until the last resort. He confused me a little with left side right side then double spoke, right side left side. I got the impression from other comments that the receive sensor wires could be cut and simply joined together.
cut and combine the two wires that are going to the dark eye sensor to bypass the relay and get your unit making lots of ice again
I didn’t cut anything I just combine wires and it worked.
I Cut both wires on both sides and attached each side together, my wires were brown and white on one side, black and red on the other side
So did cut the blue and the red on the right side and and connect them 4 different ways to the gray wire?
Or is there 4 different pieces of gray wire
I’m not sure about 4? Doing it the way I did works and others have commented that it worked for them too?
Buenas noches lo felicito por el video aunque no entiendo el ingles me puede ayudar tengo una hielera de las mismas no prender le agradesco la yuda
Did you by pass the wire before or after the switch?
I don’t understand the question
Hello sir. Have the same problem with a whirlpool. I was about to do the same like you did but the cables are different if I send a pic would you be able to help out?
Sorry, I’d have no idea. This was just something I tried and it worked.
Ok im going to try the same way and see what happens. Thanks
The issue I had is the ice kept filling then backed up into the fingers then the rotating basket got lodged during a cycle and screwed up the timing. Or it jacked up the motor. Now it won't produce a proper cycle without me manipulating the basket properly to hit the micro switches in the right order. So frustrating. And once I get it to start a cycle it won't finish it properly, small ice or it'll drop the ice off the fingers but won't dump in the basket and start over.
Yeah that sounds like a different error.
I had a similar problem cause by a hot operating environment (105 degrees) and a generator shutting down unexpectedly.
Check to see if the basket is cracked.
es muy comun que marque add wather y lo mas probable es que tenga falso contacto en el panel donde se conecta ka bombita de agua
I just bought one and haven't even had it three weeks and it's broken....same problem! Tried cleaning, emptying water! If it's so common, why don't they fix that!!!
I wish this problem would be addressed by manufacturers. The ice makers aren’t cheap to be doing this. And I have cleaned mine over and over and error won’t go away. I dont know how to do electrical work so I’ll have to see if I can find someone which sucks cuz that means paying someone. Ugh the manufacturers need to do something
There’s a quick fix: Hold the “Select” button down for a full 10 seconds, with the power on. Let go. The machine will start to cycle, compressor and fan will kick on, and then it will start to make ice. NOW. The “Ice Full” light will stay on through the first cycle, but then go out. Works on all models. TaDa!
@@LynnMooney-jc3nu oh I cid that but it didn’t fix the problem
@@LynnMooney-jc3nu Unfortunately, it doesn't work on my Igloo model.
@@headsupwildlife its a very easy fix that you can certainly do yourself. I hope you got yours working. If not please reach out and I will walk you through it. Or see my responses elsewhere in the comments
Do you know what to do if the control arm just keeps moving? It will move like it’s going to make ice and then immediately go back to the drain position and just back and forth and won’t stop 😭
Sorry, no idea.
I fixed my ice maker doing this. My wires on one side were red and black and the other side white and brown. I put the red and brown together and white and black. It’s making ice.
I think you just have to connect the two blue wires together and you can leave the red alone.
Mine says add water when it's full. Won't work. Any ody got a fix?
I had this, the little water pump was blocked. Took it out, cleaned it and all was good
Don’t cut the red on the right side, it’s the power for the sensor to water fill tray
did it end up working long term
Absolutely
I'm not taking apart this im
This shit going back too Walmart
hi
Also, be aware that you cannot use distilled water in these units.
There are not enough impurities to sense the water flow.
(it would bring on the add water LED)
In my Frigidaire Nugget maker, the add water signal is triggered by the float switch located in the upper water storage reservoir. When the float drops due to lower water level, it makes a request "more water please" by sending signal to pump. A timer starts which gives pump time to respond. If the float remains in this "lowered" position for an extended period of time, and does not return to "full tank" status within the predetermined timeframe, then it triggers an "Add Water" condition. I don't know of any ice machines that determines water levels by their "impurity" content. That would take an additional and rather expensive circuit thats simply not needed in this basic logic board. But I DO like the idea... 👍🏻👍🏻 And I wouldn't use distilled anyway, not because of reasons you mentioned, but because it tastes horrible. 🤮🤮
@@superhiway the cheap chinese ones don't have a float switch, it is a flow sensor
*Simply press and hold the select button for 10 seconds, then release.*
It will begin making ice. Light will still be on.
It will not shut off by itself in this state.
Unless the ice jams the tray, which will stop it with force.
At which point you must unplug and do it again.
No need to take it apart.
Works for many tabletop ice makers.
Did not work. Tried many times. What I did works.

I should have added, “your mileage may vary”!
I would have simply used a jumper wire at the board connector.
Again, your mileage may vary!
More than one way to “skin a cat”, much respect to those (you) that open it up and do something!
I solved my ice maker problems 4 yrs ago.
I bought a GE Profile Opal. 😁 $500 ouch!
I had been through 3 countertop bullet machines and repaired them all several times!
I was done with them and bought the Opal.
Running 4yrs now, not a glitch. 👍
Makes the “Sonic”, crunchy ice!
Runs quiet, big basket, side tank, attractive!
Just pull the trigger! You won’t be sorry!
I still have an Igloo bullet ice machine I’m not using.

dumbest explanation history- wire color is not relavant
