Considering the Eagles won a SB as a result of all this, and the Dolphins haven't even won a playoff game yet, I'd say the Eagles are the main protagonist here.
When Kelly was fired Roseman had a ton of pressure on him. He was there when Reid was let go, and initially was involved with building personnel. Kelly went 10-6 year 1 and for whatever reason he was given the keys to the castle after that. Apparently Howie and Chip didn’t agree on a lot, and Howie kept his job but lost all control over personnel and negotiations. In hindsight I am grateful he was willing to stay and he proved himself as a solid GM. Turning around what Chip did was miraculous. If you compared the eagles roster to a body chip kelly left them with only bones. 1. traded LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso 1:1 2. Released Desean Jackson under contract and took the cap hit 3. Released Vick 4. Let Maclin walk 5. Traded Foles to the rams for Dr glass himself Sam bradford 6. Splurged on demarco Murray after he had 400 touches the year before with Dallas Howie took the pieces of that team, and built a champions roster. He’s also shown he listens to the fans and when he misses on picks he can hit home runs in free agency. He also gets a person every so often during the season that gives them a boost.

The niners wanted to draft CJ Beathard in 2017, so they scouted him at Iowa. However they also liked a tight end by the name of George Kittle, so they decided to draft him in the fifth round. After Beathard left them for the jags, they got a compensatory pick which turned into Brock Purdy. So yep, one backup quality QB helped to make the core of the niners today

The trade the Bears did with the 49ers to move up one spot for Trubisky has a pretty interesting ripple effect. The first round pick SF got in the trade was pretty forgettable, but it was the next year day 2 pick that the Niners got (Fred Warner) which galvanized their defense. Also, the Saints came away with Alvin Kamara as a result of the trade too. I should also add that if the Bears didn't pick Trubisky and instead went with the safer Deshaun Watson pick, the QB board that year plays out much differently: some guy named Mahomes would likely be wearing a different jersey.
Thank you for this video. As an Eagles fan I almost entirely blocked out the Chip Kelly years from my mind so seeing Bradford and Sanchez in Midnight green was like remembering old trauma
The crazy part is when Jimmy G became a starter in 2020 the QB before him singed too the Jags. That signing became the lase pick in the 2023 draft Brock Purdy. That domino chain went in a huge complicated circle
Nice trick, but you can do this sort of thing with just about any game. What comes to my mind is how Philly deliberately tanked in their final game of the Washington in the 2021 season (thus costing the Giants a trip to the playoffs). The result? Their final record was bad enough that they had the draft capital to trade with guess who--The Miami Dolphins. They were able to trade down from 6 to 12. The Dolphins took WR Jaylen Waddle while the Eagles were able to take Davonta Smith (arguably just as good a receiver as Waddle). In addition, they got an extra first round pick in 2022. That extra first round pick (actually, they had three that year) helped make it possible to trade away a first rounder to the Titans for WR AJ Brown. The net result? Losing that one game against Washington (and screwing over their division rivals, the Giants) made it possible to get the receiving duo of AJ Brown and Davonta Smith. That, in turn, unlocked the QB talent of Jaylen Hurts--a second round selection and someone that no one at the time was sure would make it as a stater. The outcome? The Commanders and the Giants are left in the bottom of the division looking up at the Eagles and probably will stay there for the foreseeable future. I'm sure stuff like this happens all of the time.
You're forgetting that the injury also led to the Eagles trading Bradford, after drafting Wentz, to the Vikings for their 2017 1st round pick. That pick was used to draft Derek Barnett, who recovered the Brady fumble in the Super Bowl.
