Exploring the Golden Eye Mine

- Productive explore of these two gold, lead, silver and copper mines that date back to the late 1800s into the early 1900s. There were a bunch of ladders to climb and we got to explore multiple levels with drifts of various lengths. Not too much in terms of artifacts, but it's always a good time getting some underground time with good company. Hope you enjoy!

you really need to start sampling some of these mines ....that one has beautiful looking sheeted veins of Limonite that are classic deposition zones for Gold ....just remember ...the redder ....the better .... them ladders ,platforms and Stulls are new which means they are working that Monker.... good looking Tobacco can ....another fun explore .... keepe'm coming sonny Jim

A nice mine to explore, thank you for sharing. Have you ever seen so much timber work in a mine before? Can you imagine how hard those folks had to work to haul all of that timber into the mine. The hinge on the "blast door" looked rather old. That was a fun watch.

I love watching your adventures. When I was a teenager in the 1980s my friends & I would explore mines in the desert surrounding Phoenix.
Our favorite haunt was the “Sunrise Relief Mine” that was at that time several miles northwest of any development.
It is now surrounded by homes, and all but one air shaft have been sealed up.
The one air shaft has an elaborate cage built over it to keep people out, while giving fruit bats a nesting habitat.

I was wondering, do you take a gas detector with you just in case or are these mines all safe to go into. I enjoy watching you explore the mines and trails and all the vintage things you find.

Looks like a lot of survey ribbons and marks. Would be cool to get some samples to crush and see how much is there still.
Ribbons and paint is how some people mark their trails. Not all of us appreciate the debris.

You do find some pretty neat mines to explore. Thanks for taking us along. With all the ribbons and fluorescent orange spray paint it definitely looked like someone was doing some sampling. I Imagine there's still good minerals to be had in there somewhere. How much is the question.
How much and where is it located?
Paint and flags is how some people mark their trails. Not all of us appreciate their markings.

What were all the pink ribbon looking markers? Are they guide markers for explorers? Looks like some relatively fresh 2 X 4s, etc.in there. Fun explore!
The 🎀 ribbons are survey markers from when previous individuals/companies were going around and prospecting already established older mines. to see if any would be economical to reopen using more modern technology than was available when the mine was first worked.
Those ribbons could have been placed in there yesterday, or 50 years ago. They don't really deteriorate or fade in those desert mines.

Someday you're going to wish you had taken samples !!! Try to fill 1-2 heavy sandwich bags every time with info and set aside 🌵💀👍 And try to stick with this buddy you have... Safety and a buddy is life... only takes 1 awwshit = death !!! Take it from an old mountain man !!!
What does "gobbing"(?) mean? You used it a lot referencing what looked like piles of smaller rocks
Gobbing is when miners neatly stack rocks in sections of the mine that are out of the way of any current or future mining activities. It is easier to dispose of the rock that way, than it is to haul it completely out of the mine. Particularly, the farther in you go.
You will recognize it, because it appears unnatural to the surrounding geology, and it looks exactly like someone neatly stacked a bunch of rocks.
1:47 shows Gobbing
@1:47 to the left is a gobbed off room. Miners would do this to store stuff they didn't want to remove especially if they thought the mine would re open.
I'm always curious about what might be hidden behind those gobbed off sections of some mines. It would be a heck of a lot of work to remove some of those stacks.
Even if it isn't a treasure trove of mine cars and full dynamite boxes, possibly some of the gobbing may be concealing another part of the mine that showed some promise, and the owner didn't want anyone to do any sampling in his absence.
The imagination can run wild with the possibilities....
