Biking and Hiking: Exploring a Unique Gold Mine

  • Headed up a very scenic canyon with my buddy Daniel and checked out a few very cool sites including an old mill site, nicely preserved cabin and couple mine sites. Gold was the main commodity extracted from many of these, the main one we checked out had some interesting features going for it. There were tram lines, remains of the mill, stacked rock, two sets of rail, and even a few sets of ladders! Had a bit of dark time in this one which is always fun. Hope y'all enjoy this one, and as always thanks for watching!

    Nice to meet you guys up there at the cabin. Many thanks for not saying exact locations...people should adventure and discover on their own!

    A lot of the cables and wire rope used in mining and trams was made by John A. Roebling’s Sons Company who made all the cables and ropes used on the Golden Gate bridge. John A. Roebling designed the Brooklyn Bridge, and founded his steel wire manufacturing company in 1849 in Trenton, New Jersey.

    • @WesternMineDetective
      @WesternMineDetective  Před 3 lety +2

      Talking about Roebling, I actually found a spool that had that brand on it. Probably dates to the 40s or 50s. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

      @DFDuck55 Před 3 lety +2

      John A. Roebling designed the Brooklyn Bridge but never got to see it. He passed away July 1869 and the bridge construction began six months later in January 1870. It was officially opened May 1883, and was originally called New York and Brooklyn Bridge or the East River Bridge but was officially renamed the Brooklyn Bridge in 1915.

      @@DeaFBRED Well, I'm pretty sure those bricks were brought up there most likely by a Model T Ford if I had to guess. That engine on top of the ore bin dates to most likely the same time period as that boiler and boiler's foundations. Circa 1915-1920

    Hi Jerith, what a cool adventure, to find those stamps was pretty rare they are usually taken or sold. The old ball mill still there was a great find too. The mine was awesome with quite a few drifts and that one ore chute that was really steep was quite unique, I haven't seen any that thin and at such a steep angle before. I'm looking forward to see what you guys find in part 2. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
