Family are important 🦋
Lovely to see you back. Great makes as always. And now I’m thinking that I need both of the patterns too ❤
You are a fab CZcamsr! Life should take a priority. Absolutely love your pinafores. I must have slept on the Steel Pinafore. I would love one in linen.
Thank you so much!
Love the pinafores, Alex, especially the Linen one. I thought abit more light might be good in that room. But no one else seems to think so. So maybe just me😊
Also I will be keeping an eye out for the Pattern Emporium wide legged trousers, definitely comfort and style as a 50 something year old woman is where I'm at 😂.
Love both dresses.
Lovely to see you again, very excited for the giveaway. I really appreciate your info on fabrics and you have persuaded me away from my illogical aversion to wearing green. I am still in full Summer mode here in France but looking forward to Autumn. Will definitely look up that love notions pattern.
Hi Alex, I just found your channel and subscribed👍👍👍. I love your striped dress, it fits you well. The green linen is beautiful too. Thank you for sharing 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Very nice for work, or travel.
Both are great makes!
I’ve been watching your channel for a while now! Congratulations on 10 thousand!
Fab video. I like your new location 😊
Love the look of those trousers - might just have to get that pattern 😂🙈. Thank you x
Thanks Angela - I see you're almost at 10k too !!
I really like both jumpers, (pinafores), especially the second one. I think it's possible one i would like to make for a Caribbean holiday next March. I'm sure you will hit that 10000 followers quite soon.
I just discovered your channel today, wonderful! You made me laugh, especially the bow on the back of the pinafore, your husband tied it like mine would have.
😂
Sat at Nice airport watching you returning home from the summer. I am amazed that you are not at 10k subscribers already, as your vlogs are brilliant! Let’s get Alex to 10k everyone…. Spread the Alex Jusge love ❤️
Rosie 😘😘😘 I bet there was some great people watching in South France
Congratulations you have 10K subscribers!!!!
Im in Henley on Thames and I can assure you its been a terrible summer here too, rain most of July and August and cold rain! well done on reachin 10k x
I do like your style. I’ve been toying with making the sew house seven burnside bibs with an a-line skirt - which would be very similar to the Steele pinafore. But I do like the idea of cup sizes for the Steele pinafore. I also have the hinterland dress and I’m thinking of a soft Needlecord sleeveless version similar to your austin hack. Lovely makes and fabrics.
I really enjoy your videos Alex and would much rather you didn’t ‘burn out’ trying to produce content every week when it’s stressful and life is busy. I am sure that would put anyone off. I like the pinafores and they are a great idea for the end of summer into autumn wear. Not sure I’d manage a bow at the back though😂. I can see you have now reached 10k subscribers. Congratulations 🎉
Love both of your new makes, Alex, and so great to see you back. Look forward to more of your brilliant inspirational style.
Thank you so much ❤❤
I love your 2 pinafores. Certainly very similar but have their own flair. The linen look is lovely. Congrats on 10k subbies ❤
I’ve been looking for pinafore type patterns and love both the ones you’ve made. I also love the idea of the new PE pattern wide leg trousers in the faux angora. I have some of that in my stash and will maybe be able to get more than the pants out of it too…. A leisure co-ord for the hygge days to come. Thanks for that idea.
I love how hygge sounds so much more romantic than it often is 😂 but lovely soft pants will definitely work. ❤❤
Happy you aren’t a slave to your work, and almost daily look to see if you’ve put something out, it’s like waking up Christmas morning as a kid. I truly love the people I follow on here. When I think about all of the work that must go into a sewing vlog there’s always a part of me that worries they’ll get tired of it and quit. I’d miss all of you and would much rather get fewer videos and have you stick around. Now my hope is that 2 headed snake lamp that bears your name is the prize! Way back you talked about it in a video so I went to try to buy one. None were available…and now I can’t remember the company name. Enjoy your trip, and I think I’m going to have to buy a couple of these patterns from today. They’re just what I’ve been looking for as we definitely have the 4 seasons, but wont wear the loose pinafores I’m seeing anymore since I’m at an age where it looks like I’m filling out a sack rather than being the skinny young one looking cool in the slouchy dress. Again, love your style.
I love your comment so much, thank you I really appreciate it. It's true there are times when I think it'd be a lot easier not to post, but I know I'd miss it if I gave up. I'm not giving any clues regarding the giveaway 😂
Ooo well done on your 10k Alex!🎉 Made my linen Steele kast year and layered it with a merino Rowan turtleneck bodysuit last Autumn /winter. I love the bib shape . Your Austen is fab too!
Exactly what I had in mind, great minds .. 😂😘
Great to see you back, love your vlogs. Dresses are great but not for me. Like another comment, I don’t have the height and with age, these dresses don’t look right - but look great on you. I need more fitted styles. Fabulous that you have hit 10 k. X
Hi Alex, great vlog as always, I love both pinafores. The content of your vlogs is so enjoyable and inspirational and honest, so always a treat when one pops up. Congrats on reaching the 10k 🎉
A sleeveless dress I have made recently, that I enjoyed sewing, is the maxi shift dress by Ann Normandy. I changed it to be midi length. It looks a simple make, but it is quite involved with lots of top stitching. An interesting pattern in my opinion.
Thanks for this, I've had a look and love her patterns, my favourite thing is to find pattern companies ❤
Loved both your dresses and the inspiration of the trousers I can see lots of pairs for autumn
Me too, I plan to slink around in some 😂❤
Love love love these dresses! Definitely going to have a good look at the Grainline studio dress, and those trousers are fabulous!! Looks like you've reach 10k already - congratulations!
Green linen fantastic design too!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Your channel always provides brilliant content Alex. I've said it before that you always explore different pattern companies, which is very interesting for us CZcams followers. You have your own style and that's great 👍
Annette reading this really does make my day, thanks so much ❤❤
I agree, love Alex's style, and the different pattern companies ❤
Love both pinafore’s think the striped one is my favourite you look stunning in it 😊
Oh thank you!
letting life get in the way is a good thing
True, easy to forget that ❤
Hi Alex 👋
I've been catching up with the past few episodes and it's been great!
Now that I've seen the gorgeous olive green pinny...why not use the new corduroy for a winter version? It would look sooo great...well I think so 😂 see you next episode!
Yay - great to see you back Alex. Don't worry about conforming CZcams recommendations. As and when you feel like it is great and much appreciated! Your content is always interesting, inspiring and enabling 🤣 Have a lovely holiday!
sorry - not - sorry 😂❤
Adore both pinafores on you Alex👌💚🧡💚. Such interesting lines on the Pattern Emporium one 😍. Great room for showing off your makes too 👍. Hope you get to your 10 000 very soon 🙏🍀💖😘
Thanks so much Sally ❤❤
thank you Alex your new sews look fantastic.....and you have successfully enabled me - i just ordered the Elbe Steele Pinafore - love the cut and I can see a long version in my future too :) have a great weekend xxx
Just got home from our new, local fabric shop armed with two meters of wool and two of Ponte for my new pinafores! Made two last year, love them to bits, need another two in different colours. So happy they`re back in fashion. Yours look great, really inspiring, thank you Alex🥰
Nice work! - I'm joining a group of sewist later this week for a fabric shop and ponte is top of my list 😀❤
Love the pinafores ❤ Room is good, the lighting is great too.
Thank you! 🤗
The dresses both look great. I love the shade of green of the linen, so pretty! And well done on the buttons for the striped dress; such a cute feature.
Best of luck reaching 10k subscribers soon. I bet the prize is _seriously_ good and I'm looking forward to you enlightening us as to what it is 😉
I'm looking forward to seeing your autumn garments. Personally I'm always sad to put away summer sewing, but this year I did so really early. It's just depressing to have more summery clothes than there are sunny days, so I force myself to hold back.
Thanks so much, the prize is goood. I'm never quite as excited by Summer, although I'll soon be moaning about the cold I'm sure 😂
They both look fab on you. I might buy the Elbe pinafore after seeing this. I liked the look of the Austin but it looked like the larger size they pictured could really have done with an FBA to stop the front hem rising up. I am an odd shape due to double mastectomy so hoping that a pinafore might be easier to fit 👍
Yes I should imagine a pinafore would be a good option ❤
your dresses are so beautiful
Thank you so much 😊
Austin dress was already on my wish list. Have Steele pinafore and the trousers on it too now!! Beautiful makes as always. Thank you. Good Luck with getting to 10K.
Yay! Thank you!
You must have sold that fabric for them it’s all gone now, I was just going to buy it!
There is another colourway!
Haha…..first to comment here but I am sure I will not be the only person would laughed out loud when you turned around after you said had asked your husband to tie your dress and were afraid of what it looked like. Great dresses….Im with you…. I like linen for warmer weather only..
Glad you enjoyed it, the poor man looked terrified when I asked him to do it too 😂
Great makes. Congratulations on your YT numbers you will get there. Oh yes I’m a vertical and horizontal challenged too. Oh exciting prize sounds like xx 1st day of September here spring is finally in the air been very cold but clear. Up north have had rain all year. Xx
I think the weather is due to improve because I've booked a holiday abroad! 😁
Thank you I just love pinafores and yours are beautiful
Thanks so much, I'm a new convert ❤
Fabulous makes always look forward to your vlogs
🙏❤
Both your pinafores/dresses are beautiful! You have a wonderful sense of style, Alex. I would never have even thought of making the Austin dress but now I will take a look at it. The new filming spot is perfect, love your storage wall.
Thank you so much!
I love your Austin Dress! I knew about it, but seeing it done up in real life, it's a lot more appealing. 😍 Re: designer fabrics.....I had a fabric that I was having trouble matching to a pattern. He took a photo of it on a Google app I think that identifies things, and the search brought up RTW clothing using that fabric! I'd never heard of the company, but the print was exactly the same. (he also uses it to identify bugs, cars, etc.) Congratulations on your new doors!!
Brilliant idea, I've just searched and there are lots of similar things that come up including a Paul Smith cushion, but none are exactly the same 😀
Also thanks for the door congratulations, after 10 years they're the most exciting thing to happen for a long time 😂
Nice video, the green dress looks great, thanks for sharing
Thanks so much
Love your video and presenting, soooo realistic, I’ve clicked the subscribe button x 🧵🪡
Thank you, thank you ❤❤❤
I absolutely love the first one, love the fabric, the colour, the button detail. I think your hack is nicer than the original. The wide leg trouser pattern is a bit like the Friday pattern company Joan trousers. I’ve made w pairs from viscose ponte and they are fantastic. So,so comfortable but you can get away with them at work, not like the Old fashioned stretch trousers that I hated when I was young.
I was tempted by the Joan trousers, but there's something about the leg I'm not sure about, but yes stretch trousers are so good ❤
Love both your pinafore dresses - I’m definitely up for making those this autumn - my fav season in terms of my real style and what I like to wear 😊. Hope you reach that milestone soon ❤
Yay! Thank you!
love the pinafores, I've made the Steele with the Aline skirt, I use it for work so fixed the straps on the back and put in the extra buttons, its a winter one and I love your linen one so might do that for next summer. Really love Elbe Textiles and have made a few sets of the Staley tshirt and sweater but I'm sure it was you who introduced me to her and I made the Steele last winter. Enjoy your holiday.
Ooh to good to hear it works with a fixed strap as I'll probably have to do that for my daughter's version if she wants to wear it at work. I'm a big fan of the Staley tops, so simple and yet there the ones I grab most often ❤❤
Great pinafore dress❤
🙏❤
Love the buttons on your striped dress Alex, mixing them up was definitely the right choice. It's great to have you back but life should always come ahead of CZcams! I'm going to say early congratulations for reaching 10K as I'm sure you'll get there before you know it. Off to look at that trouser pattern now 😄
Thanks Julie ❤❤
Love the idea of pinafores, and now looking at my pattern stash for hacking ideas… your makes are very stylish as always, great additions for your wardrobe. Perhaps tie the green linen where you want it to stay forever, before slipping it over your head? The Side button access should make it simple to get in and out of. Any t-shirt or turtle-neck would be versatile under it, or I was thinking the Pattern Emporiums Time-Out Tank would also work under it, because of the narrow shoulder shaping of the armscye.
Yes I think you're right, alternatively I'll try a fixed tie option for my daughter and see which one works best. Have you made the Time out Tank? I tried it when it came out and struggled with it, but I can't remember what went wrong now 😊
The new room for your video is great as the background allows all the details and shape of the dress to be seen. I’m looking for a pinafore pattern too and the green linen one is great.
Brilliant, I also like the fact the light in that room makes my wrinkles disappear 😂
@@AlexJudgeSews always good!
Love those makes!!! Have you considered micro cord? Have a great holiday xxxx
I have now 😂🙏
xXX👍👍👍
🙏
Hi Alex. Really love your choices of patterns and fabrics. Do you think that these would work with needlecord?
Yes! I've got some medium weight twill I'm going to make a gathered skirt version of the Steele, but was also thinking of needlecord - it'll feel lovely too ❤
I love the Steele pinafore and have been tempted to make one….the only thing that puts me off is the tie back. Firstly I think it could be really awkward to tie on your own (you proved me right haha) and also I wonder if that might feel really bulky when sitting down. Tempted to try a hack and remove the bow! Good to see you back and excited for the giveaway (I think I know what it might be 😆) and wish I could subscribe twice 😂 The room is good but I really like your videos from your sewing room too and am always happy with the inserted photos or videos you put in.
Is that you Leanne? have you changed name? Lady in comment below has made a version with a fixed strap and I'll need to do that for Queenie's version so I'll keep you posted. The giveaway will be open to everyone and is worldwide - hooray. The sewing room is a bit dark so lighting is a bit tricky, but I get bored in the same space so I'll probably flit between the two, Dave is very much enjoying me keeping out of his shed 😀❤
@@AlexJudgeSews yes it is me! How strange…..I think I changed from kiltsnquilts on here about a year ago when I was toying with the idea of starting my own channel…still haven’t plucked up the courage or found the time to find out about editing and recording etc! Wonder if it has taken this long for it to change?!
I will definitely keep an eye out for your fixed strap version and will find the comment from the person who did that. I did look on Instagram but couldn’t see any without the bow.
I have got the Assembly Line Apron dress pattern but it feels a bit prim for me for some reason. I love it on others but haven’t made one for myself yet.
Also, I agree with other comments about your channel. I would rather you post when you can rather than feel the pressure of a regular schedule that then causes you to stop altogether! Life and family should come first and I like your rebellious YT streak 😃
do you think you could get the Steele dress cut from 2 metres of 135 cm linen? I like both of these but yes The Steele pinafore is definately more streamlined. Your fit is always so good. Enjoy your hols.
hmm not sure, I had 3m of the linen so could afford not to be uber careful.
Love your pinafores, I have one on my sew list but did you make one for your daughter?? I'm all about transitional makes now. Can't believe the weather has been shocking, even in the South!
Not made one for my daughter yet, but I'll make her the Steele with the gathered skirt. I'm hoping it'll be ok being sewn at a distance as I won't be able to check it fits and she's a different shape to me.
