    It's pretty insane that Ableton decided not to pursue mulitchannel support for Live 12 after years spent on the update while Dolby Atmos exploded as a household format in that stretch of time. That said, your workarounds are much appreciated. Question on the area around 25 min in your video here: what happens without the Bidule plugin? Would those channels just get trimmed out of the signal, or would they fold in - for example would the .6 just sum to .2? I simply want to exploit the M4L multichannel support without encoding or panning, using the Dolby Atmos Renderer and the Dolby Panner per my usual workflow within Live, but am reluctant to spend yet another $100 on a plugin which you admit crashes on the regular to solve the 9.1.6 to 7.1.2 dilemma shown here. Thanks much!

      Have you tried Kushview Element in lieu of Bidule. That one is free and should work in the latest version.

    You sound so much like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I couldn't help but think of Arnold explaining this to me

    Am I able to use this two return tracks with M4L devices for routing multichannel outputs to my Apollo X6 for 5.1 rendering? Or I am reading the functions wrongly?

    At 11 mins in you mention the audio brewers decoder. Do know of any free decoders that'll do the job? Great video!

      Yes, we had good results with the IEM decoder.

    off topic, but do you think having a cs bachelors helps working as a sound designer/composer at a video games studio? and how can you compare it to the sound design bachelors degree, if I'm already a somewhat of an experienced musician.

      @michaelgwagner  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Very good question. If you are working in game audio, it does help to have some understanding about game engines. But you would not necessarily need a CS degree. Game engines work with very little programming these days. It's probably more useful to have a good portfolio that shows that you can work with Unity and/or Unreal. Ideally also with audio middleware such as FMOD or WWise.

      That has been on my list for a while. It requires a bit more preparation than usual, but it will definitely happen.

    Good luck flicking between Chain/Master in real time and this thing not blowing out when you got a flow going. Also I like this 30% cpu usage

      As I like to say, it tends to be a bit temperamental. ;) Max is working in the background, but the E4L system itself should not be that taxing. About 6% on my M2 MacBook Air.

    Am I correct in thinking I can use an adapted version of this workflow to bypass using reaper to monitor via virtusoso and can instead combine Fiedler audio plugins with Env4L and send the 16 channels into virtuoso? I don't mind using reaper as well but it would be nice sentimentally to be able to do it all in ableton!

      @michaelgwagner  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I have not tried the DAC yet. I had issues with the MPEG-H authoring plugin. Virtuoso works fine.
