Packrafting and Wild Camping. Solo Overnight Camp by the River. OneTigris Tetra Tent.

- In this video, I head out on the river in my new packraft for a solo wild camp overnighter. With everything I need packed in a small 35l drybag, I inflate my boat and head off.
Battling through thick vegetation growing in the river, I wind my way along this small Norfolk river and finally arrive at my camp spot for the night.
I set up my tent - a new lightweight backpacking tent from OneTigris - the TETRA. I have been excited to try out this tent, especially on this trip since I discovered that my packraft paddle works perfectly as the tent pole.
Once set up, it’s time for firewood prep and getting the fire lit for dinner and boozy hot chocolates.
Apologies for the focus issues through the video, my usual camera is being repaired at the moment, so I had to use an old camera which is a bit on the temperamental side and a GoPro which has strange audio! Hopefully normal video quality will return soon.
I hope you enjoy the video,
Thanks for watching.

Hi folks - thanks for watching!
Don’t forget, there is a 40% discount code for the Travel Kadai, available for UK residents (valid until 12 December). These fire bowl kits are normally £99, but with the discount they are £59 - a bargain in my opinion! - make a very nice Christmas gift for somebody! Link in the description box for details. Cheers!
What i😊s the purpose of buying a pre-made firebox. If you can't make it stay on the couch.
How nice to see someone making the effort to enjoy real nature on our soggy little island. Hats off.
I think you mean bottoms up!
I guess there was no sense carrying all that rum back home was there!
Dear Simon, I'm always so happy to see one of your new adventure videos pop up! You inspire me to go out and enjoy Mother Nature. Thanks for all you do, Simon! Appreciate you.
Well said, it does the same for me
Thank you!
This put me in such a good mood Simon! You’re energy and passion for being outdoors, making your own fun, living your best life, never letting something like a coffee pot get you down, sharing your joy with others, putting yourself out there, taking us along, and us carrying you in our hearts long after your video is over…we have been with you each week since the pandemic began and you are definitely the highlight to our long days and weeks, our inspiration, our reminder of how sweet life can be ❤
Great video, as always! One trick I've used on packraft trips, especially in marshy/wet ground areas, was to flip the boat upside down and either deflate it, or sometimes not even bother, then sleep on the boat - pretty decent insulation as well.
Good idea✅
Forgot to pack something important? You've been spending too much time with Andy!😂
fart sniffer !!!!😳
When I saw those cows looking at you I could see it in their eyes. They were thinking, isn't that the funniest great big duck you've ever seen.
Love the pack raft I would have been tempted to deflate it and use it as a groundsheet
Good call! 👍👍
Great to see you in a Packraft Simon they’re super fun and really can take you places you would never imagine 😀🏴
As always great video. And people ask me why I don't watch normal TV anymore. So many great videos on CZcams 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
100% agree
Touche
Programing on here is so much better. The ads are starting to get annoying though. Not nearly as bad as cable.
Like a true outdoorsman a bit of rain won't stop you from going on a trip. 💪👍 Thanks for the video, loved it!
Awww I love this wee location 🙏🏼🫂
I'll pass on the tent, but the raft and esbit are on my bucket list! Thanks Simon! 🤘🍻💯
Congrats to the winner! 🍻🥂🖖
Thanks Simon. A pleasure as always watching your content.
Love your campsite! So nice and cozy...so nicer to be with you...not missing only is Maggie,,,a nice peaceful and entertainment encampment! Love it! Thanks.
The look on those cows faces is priceless. They're probably thinking... "What in the hell are you doing here?" lol
It's great to see someone is having rain. We haven't had much rain at all the last few years. Thanks for the wonderful video Simon.
Nice video simon, always love seeing a new one to watch, makes my day, thank you x
Nice looking packraft and a really small pack size.
A great way to get strong coffee out of that type of coffee pot is choose fine grind. It takes longer for the water to be forced through and is stronger. Some brands will call it espresso grind. Loose grind is better for a cafetière
Loved this video Simon and you still have lovely eyes, don't blush now 🤣🤣☺️
That porridge idea is pure genius. Thank you so much I hate those dam pots.
Just assumed you'd buy a pack raft after your first adventure, amazed it took so long. Loved the vid
Nice adventure Simon. The amount of duck weed is surprising for late November. At least you didn't have to contend with a light icing. In a winter voyage on America's East Coast I often had to plow my kayak through thin ice along shore, even in brackish waters. Once a very thick snowfall brought my boat to a rapid halt, and I had to camp at that spot. Another time I was brought to a conclusive halt on a small Chesapeake island for a month when freeze up marooned me there. Water weed is inconvenient. Ice is game changing.
Man, come on over to the US. We've always got room for one more! Especially a bloke like you. Lot's of wide open space!
Awesome, you got yourself a packraft.
Thanks for another great video! Good to see the tent held up!
This was the perfect video to pop up in my notifications today. In the Upstate of South Carolina in the US, it has been a dreary morning and this was a bright of of sunshine, even though it rained on your adventure, too! I hate to rush Christmas and New Year but I am really looking forward to Spring. I really don't like winter! Thank you for sharing with us. Take care and be safe out there!🧡👍☺
WONDERFULL thank you Simon.
Just what I need sometime outside on the river & in the woods but without getting cold, wet & muddy….Cheers Simon 🍻
Thank you , Simon .
🐺 Loupis Canis .
Great video Simon, going away camping with the Scouts this weekend and everytime it's rained or the temperature has dropped a notch a Scout (or parent) has cancelled!
You're a great inspiration Sir, looking forward to my special hot chocolate this weekend 😉
Hope you have a great weekend! And enjoy that hot chocolate!! 😉
Perfect timing for a Simon video to go live! Will make the perspective of the day take on a whole new light! Great work, Simon!
Love the videos, so serene, thank you
Thank you Simon, always a treat
Great video Simon! I loved the cows and the nice addition to your hot chocolate! Keep them coming!! Cheers
Hot Chocolate and Rum sounds delicious!
Great video as always Simon.
Stay healthy and safe.❤
I absolutely love these overnighter videos such a treat to watch.
Hi Simon Great Video as usual. I’m absolutely positive that taking a packraft across/along lake Rogen, Femund when it’s windy will be a whole new world of hurt…. We have been to the area about 4 times now longest was 17 days and we went all the way to Røros.
Sometimes it’s too windy to travel on the lakes at all, but the easiest way to combat the wind is going Tandem in a 16’ + canoe (we were in a 15’ prospector the first time and still had room for all our gear
and food for 17 days, although we did a 6km portage over a mountain to get to Femund…..Hell….)
I’m sure the packraft would be awesome for the river sections and smaller less wind affected lakes though. And hiking instead of paddling on the big lake. But then you have to go pretty light on gear….
Anyway just my thoughts…..
That sounds like a seriously brutal portage!!!
Yes, I think a windy crossing of those big lakes might be a bit too far haha! A night crossing is probably the way to go - when that wind drops as it often seemed to do. 👍👍
what an awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool video Simon, thank you!
I love the way the cows look at y'all when you're floating by...
Love the new tent!
Those brandy hot chocolates did look good. I had a good smile over that, nice one! 😋
Another brilliant video 😊
Thanks Simon, great video!
Great places
Awesome adventure
Great video Simon-Cheers!
Thanks again! You have a lot of green in the landscape still in the end of november! Here in Finland the landscape colour is a mix of brown and grey except coniferous trees. This year we have now a couple inches of snow even here in Helsinki region!
SIMON, GREAT VIDEO!!!
What a lovely video to watch in the middle of a blizzard
Hi Simon, thanks for another great video 🙂
Great video Simon!
Thanks for making this vid.. inspiration to me.. great vid and thanks again 👏👏👏
Really good video as always 👌
We haven't seen your workshop since you were re-working and old WWII German knapsack years ago. I'd love to see where you store snd how you organize your equipment. How far ahead to you plan a solo trip. How do you decide where to go, what equipment to bring and the menu. I think it would be so interesting to see the whole planning process, and then maybe the editing.
Great video as usual! Thanks, Simon. Those Esbit coffee makers are not cheap - hope you're returning your new faulty one.
I’m temped, but I think I’ll repair it and work on ways to get a better strength 👍
Enjoyed god bless 🏴
Great filming as always Simon!
Another great little camp Simon, thanks for sharing it with us.
Great video really enjoyed this one
I always enjoy your videos Simon...cheers!
Great video
Can’t wait to get in here and watch. Thank you for taking us a long with you
Thank you so much for these vids, they are very peaceful and gentle. It is comforting that at least one other is getting the opportunity to get outside!
I just bought my first canoe for one hundred dollars. It needs a paint job but otherwise it's in good shape. Thanks for your videos
Happy paddling! 👍👍👍
Another cracking video Simon thanks for sharing 👍 👏
Nice one again !
A proper camping adventure. Hiking, canoeing, cooking the lot. Well done as usual. Thanks.
Pretty cool. Thanks for all the camera setups, Simon. Pain in the butt for you, but it makes great storytelling. 🙂👍🏕️🛶
I always enjoy watching your videos! Such fun I'm sure! Looking forward to the next one!!
I really enjoyed this one Si lad nice to see the pack raft 👍

Love your new boat, mate. Nice one 🛶

Sempre lugares maravilhosos ❤❤
It always fantastic work to watch your videos and keep up with the fantastic outstanding work
Always good to see you out and to see what you guys on the other side of the pond do in different situations.
Hurray for new gear. Thanks for another great video, cheers!
Spreading camp joy, despite the thin coffee. Nice job, Simon.
enjoyed the video
Nice outing, Si! If you look closely, this "big" Mountain House meal will compare fairly equal to say the freeze-dried meal by Real Turmat (Field Meal) Pasta Provence for quantity and nutritional data. The "3 servings " / nutritional data on the package of the Mountain House meal is written to fit within the US Food and Drug Administration nutritional requirements for food labeling. All the best, Gordon
Great camp again Simon
Nice video Simon 👍👍👍👍👍👍
What a guy, heads out even though he knows it going to rain..👍
Christ you had a right day of it. Duckweed, forgot your groundsheet and the saw…I’ll be honest I’d have gone “balls to this I’m off home” and the video would never have seen the light of day. Well done for persevering.
Thank you. Stay well and safe travels. All the best. 👍🐾🐾😎
Lovely stuff Simon, Your videos always relax me and connect me with nature which I greatly appreciate.
great video sir. Your videos keep me interested in camping. It has been awhile since I have been out in the field. I am way over due for another adventure. I liked the small three sided stove for the fuel tab. I Use to use fuel tabs a lot in the field when I was stationed in South America back in the 80's. Take your packraft to Norway next year. stay safe.
Just reading "Wild Camping" by Stephen Neale ..great info on the UK & he is an advocate for greater public access. Great show Simon 👍
I really enjoyed this Simon, so very relaxing! Thank you, Cat OZ 🙃
nice video, thanks..
Great video Simon thanks for sharing like your new tent and Canoe like the end of the video you paddle through the Reeds good you made it well done Simon 👏
Gave a like and will watch it later.
good one 😀😀
Something different again well done Simon well what can I say it's always smashing love to the family mate
Awesome! :D
Simon, you do know that while the Rum may make you feel warmer, it is actually reducing your core body temperature. So do not give it to someone who has, or may have hypothermia. Basic first aid tip.
Love your videos, I have myself a camping trip for several days once a year, it's all the time I have, thank you for a great channel, Tommy from North Carolina
Thanks Simon, always great videos. For your morning coffee you can't beat an Aeropress travel version. Keep up the good work. thanks.
