    pretty smooth control.
    Helicopters really make me wish I had pedals and not just a twistie :D

    I can't even land normally without VRS killing me

    • @crashandburngaming5103
      @crashandburngaming5103 Před 3 lety

      Pretty common problem. Once you drop below 1000ftper\min as you slow down, you need way more power to stop VRS. Especially as you get close to 0 knots.
      I fought with this for awhile, and had many spectacular crashes.
      Trimming constantly as you slow on approach helps too.

      @indyjons321 Před 3 lety +1

      Below ETL, (as you slow down and the helicopter stops shaking), keep your decent no more than 500 ft/min.

      @@crashandburngaming5103 wwooowww nooo. do not use collective when in vrs. if anything lower collective, and lower the nose, or lookup the vuischard(if that's how you spell it) technique, much safe fore lower altitude vrs.

      @@crashandburngaming5103 trimming? I fly the Huey (well, all of them) without trimming. Hate the virtual trim and will only do it when I get a FFB joystick.
      There's no need to trim at approach at all, and I would advise to just not trim. Makes it a lot more predictable, since you don't have to do trim resets which will snap your joystick immediately to whatever the true center is.

    Just makes you wish that DCS modeled the weight shifting of troops moving in/out of the back.

    Really good job. Not the easiest bird to fly and doing pinpoint stuff takes skill

    This should have been called Landing Watching.

    Thank you, awesome! I am at the beginning of Huey and it is hard hard ..... for me nothing but stationary, it is difficult! light pressure on the stick is always needed: flying well in huey, it's harder than refueling in flight on F18 ^^

    Hi EB, how do you keep up like this? What camera mode do you use and how?

  • @ryu1940

    Amazing control and I am thinking I must get that sound mod now. It sounds incredible.

      What sound mod is it

    • @ryu1940
      @ryu1940 Před 5 lety

      Not sure but I have had people recommend to me in the past about getting the Huey sound mod so maybe there is only one floating out there.

    I'm organically discovering the "drift-skid" deceleration landing where you turn fairly steeply and the heli decelerates quickly for a fast landing. I can't seem to pull it off on an oil rig -- it seems like I need to be able to have a visual reference as to how the heli is turning to be able to do it sucessfully and empty water is not enough for that.
    Is that a real technique and if so what's that called?

    Impressive flying! What curve settings do you recommend?

    • @EightBall
      @EightBall  Před 5 lety +2

      It depends of your hardware and your experience. If you have a high end joystick, little to no curve should be necessary.
      Also if you are a beginner I'd suggest to add some curves (between 15 and 30) until you get used to the very fine adjustements required when flying helos.

    • @EightBall
      @EightBall  Před 3 lety +7

      @fiendbastards Absolutely not. I was in control the entire time. Switching from pilot to copilot doesnt turn on the auto pilot.
      SImply because you suck at flying helos in DCS doesnt mean everybody else does

    What hardware controllers are you using for cyclic and collective; I've got the Huey but never tried to fly it since all I have is TMWarthog HOTAS and Saitek ProFlight Pedals.

    • @EightBall
      @EightBall  Před 5 lety +1

      a TM warthog, no pedals

    • @olejanen6414
      @olejanen6414 Před 5 lety +1

      Dont worry! Im still using my old broken x52. It does make it alot harder but it is still possible to get very precise with a half broken twistie Stick.

  • @diewont
    @diewont Před 5 lety

    Nice precision Eight Ball! Are you using VR?

    • @EightBall

      unfortunately no, just TrackIR

  • @123456giulio
    @123456giulio Před 5 lety

    What kind of stick are you using? I'd like to be as precise as you but I feel I'll never get there without a full deflection joystick...

      a regular TM warthog

    How'd you get those cool camera angles? Is there a replay feature in DCS?

    • @jacksos101
      @jacksos101 Před 4 lety

      There is a replay feature - but it is very broken for certain aircraft, or for busy missions with lots of things going on (it's not a recording, per say, but rather a re-simulation using the same inputs as when you flew).
      Forturnately for the Huey the replay system seems to work okay.

    My Rift S has higher resolution than my 1080p monitor, yet my monitor looks much better than my Rift S; why is that?
