I did this a little different because if you go back to stand alone outputs then you have to assign everything back to Out 1/2 all over. I used a submix for each out and then assigned the outputs as you did but for each submix. You still have to go back and change the submixes to Out 1/2 but I find it easier to manage when switching between usb and stand alone plus you get another set of 4 effects slots in the submix.

Yeah i finally copped the 12. Its essentially a mini pro board in your home. I am gonna run it through my SSL2+ BADASS!

I use a Tascam DP-24 for recording. I record my MPC X and Maschine into it. I have one of the original DP-24 units with midi and CD. So I record all my music onto CDs once I’m done. I prefer a physical medium.
Just order a Tascam Model 12 today. I already have an MPC X so this was so helpful to me.
Just ordered my digital mixer ... I'll eventually make a video as well.... I appreciate this tutorial... was rough finding a good tutorial for the USB out functions for the MPC X #Salute

Is the only real benefit to doing this "Tactical feel" though? I feel like its gear for gear sake a bit. EVerythign you did, you can do directly from the MPC to the DAW as an audio interface itself. I would love some real world use cases where adding the Model 12 is actually beneficial over just not having one. Love your vids man,.
This is for standalone producers Jason. I personally don’t use this work flow but I know producer who do. 👊🏾🙏🏾

Great video, but I’ll be lying if I didn’t wonder where is sampling in this video? How do you route sound from the 12 back into the mpc….
Pretty sweat. Being that there is so much dsp in the MPC X you could even sub group to the tascam and us it one knob comps and fx then send it to a mastering rack and get a totally professional sound and on the cheap. You really could get away with cutting finished tracks without a pc.Crazy. Love it.❤ Just throw down a out board vocal channel strip pre MPC. Oh and save one channel for master bus.

Love the video, and just subscribed. I am on the fence about buying the Model 12. I have a question. What if you had something like 20 tracks on the mpc. How does that work if you're limited to 10 out of the 12 tracks on the model 12? Thanks!
You would need to group your instruments out via submix, then assign the submix outputs to each channel. Mixes are always better when you group instruments together; in my honest opinion.

I have model 16, and that thing is noisy , humming, and buzzing. Do you have this problem.
@@Dispatcher813 I don’t have that issue with the 12 but I have some Rockville 8 monitors that with the wrong cords will make that hum buzz that ur talking about so I went to a local music store and bout a d.I. Box and that killed that issue for me. Check ur cords 1st tho u might be using balanced and need unbalanced even tho it will take both. Hope it helps and the di box I got was like 96 bucks but there are cheaper and others

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been trying to connect my SP-404 to the Tascam 12 with the T12 being connected to my MPC Live but can’t figure it out. I know how to connect the 404 directly to the Live, but it doesn’t work when trying to connect while my Live is routed into the Model 12.

Fire video bro. Question. I noticed when you changed the volume on the model 12 the volume did not adjust on MPCx. Is there anyway to save those settings to the MPC for later use? Or do you have to save the settings on the Model 12 and load it every time you load up that session from MPC

I have an mpc x professional, and I have a Mackie 24 trk analog broad. Do I use the cv gate cables to make the to do mult track recording .
Sorry but the Mackie doesn’t work with the MPC X via USB, not sure about Cv. You have to do it old school and use the MPC X 8 outs connected to the board and record them all at once. 👊🏾

in order to track to different channels the tracks in the mpc need to have different programs? for example, i have a drum program i used to create a drum pattern and then i blew up the pattern into separate tracks. when I try to put each track into a different output they all change to the same one.
nvm, you can do this in the mix by going to the route tab and selecting the different out channels instead of "Program" that its set to.

Marcus E question: I just got the XSE and I have a Maschine + and a LIVE II… I really don’t anticipate using the live II any more… i means it’s going to be few and far between. I don’t really care for gear sitting around just because. Would you say the Model 12 is worth getting rid of my live II? I’m thinking about selling my live II to get the model 12 .
Man that’s a tuff one! I love my MPC Live 2 for portability alone 🥹 I wouldn’t sell it. The model 12 is a nice audio interface/ digital recorder…but for 699.00 I would just keep them both and grab the 12 as well. 😅

There’s only one cable bro. It’s the Usb type C that came with the model 12. Connect it to your MPC usb and that’s it. 🤨

How can i play a mpc live performance and record it. When i record live instruments or microphone i can hear it on the tascam playback. But it does not record my mpc tracks via usb.

Yes
There is a design flaw with the usb connection to the model 12. I have 2 MPC’s, one model 12 and I had 2 model 24’s. In every case, the usb connection occasionally gets a cracky sound, no matter what I do. I’ve used different usb cables, different mpc’s, different tascam mixers, and every possible approach to avoid this issue. I eventually had to go back to using the analog outputs

Any mixer with audio interface capabilities can be used so yes there should be cheaper options out there.
The tascam is the only one that I’m aware of. The zoom L20 will NOT allow the MPC to digitally interface without a computer. I tried it and I’m certain of that.

@@cleyperrier you can make tracks sound full with the built in effects. Do you know how to use a compressor on drums, AIR Transient, AIR Maximizer, AIR Limiter? You can make them Drums knock inside the MPX X SE. Don’t believe that sonic bs, the MPC X SE sounds amazing bro, absolutely amazing. Those AIR Effects are great plug-in effects built inside the MPC
@@DaMixWizard I usually use the presets on the compressor plugin,cause I really don’t know what level to set the threshold,ratio,attack on the compressor for drums, I just go by my ears .
Missed the part where you show how to add the eq and compressor. This is not covered well on CZcams and can be very confusing needs to be broken down so that the features can be used. People seem to be confused that it’s just available when you connect it up to the Tascam.

Brother, I have a question that no one seems to want to answer. I have the MPC Key 37 and it has a limit of 8 tracks (depending on the plugins and all), and when it comes to the Tascam Model 12, it has an SD Card/ Recorder, so with that said, since the Tascam 12 has up to 12 tracks, does that mean we can use the built-in recorder to record 12-tracks and not be limited to the Key 37's 8 track limit? Like, can we fill the remaining 4 tracks on the Tascam 12 with sounds from the Key 37 and record that way? Hope my question made any sense. LOL.
