The Arthur B. Hanson Rescue Medal is given by the US Sailing Safety at Sea committee for a rescue (or attempted rescue) of a life at sea.
Since its endowment in 1989, 211 medals have been awarded.
367 lives have been saved. 13 lives have been lost.
Each is a powerful story.
Together, they represent the finest traditions of boaters coming to the aid of others in distress.
