On this week’s Everything You Need To Know, we’re taking a look at how Marcus Rashford became a national hero in Britain. The Manchester United striker arrived on the scene as a shy 18 year-old in 2016, and became an instant hit at Old Trafford. Since then, he has encountered difficulties on the field and overcome them to evolve into one of the Premier League’s very best attackers.
Alongside this, he has grown as a person and a voice for change. As someone who grew up on free school meals in a single-parent household, Rashford has always wanted to help the most vulnerable, and together with his family has become a charity spokesperson in Manchester. And in 2020, he took on the UK government and won, ensuring millions of children wouldn’t have to go hungry over the summer. But how did such a young athlete come to use his platform in such a mature and meaningful way?

I'd definitely buy a Rashford Jersey ( Even though I'm a Chelsea fan). Man's a hero. No one can disregard that
Exactly, I’m an Arsenal fan and would consider it for what he did. Sure Liverpool fans may too.
Get an england one tho
It would never happen but I’d love him at Liverpool tbh, he’s an amazing person and player.
I disregard it
Says a lot about how much you support Chelsea more than anything else
We Love Marcus Rashford!
We do too! ❤️
We really really do ❤
My favourite podcast ❤
Great lad (and that’s coming from a City fan😉)
Ok I’ve been roasting football daily for every video they’ve put up but this time I have to respect this video.
finally
@Tim Dev DAMN
Its mental that a man as young can be so focused and so determined to do good for others. Many people who came out of his situation, justfocus on their riches and nothing more
Truly special guy. Hopefully he's leading the way for other footballers and celebrities to do similar things!
[Michael]
As a football fan of a club, we are so tribal sometimes, but the is the guy to break all the barriers and help people to unite for a greater cause.
He's got to win sports personality of the year for what he's done over his career so far
Exactly and he is so young too
Saif Pathan oh yeah for sure
A real pleasure to write this script about such an inspirational person.
What do you think of what Rashford has done off the field? And are there any similarly inspiring footballers you'd like us to cover on this series?
[Michael]
As always great content and what a gem rashford is. Can you do a video on how drogba managed to end a civil war in the ivory Coast.
Think it’s great makes me more proud to be united fan man like rashford if only more Rich ppl would help the poor we live in better place
@andrew miller He is! And cheers, a top edit from Mr James Waine!

Football Daily I really wasn’t that impressed with what he did. Anyone can write to the government with a point. If I did it you wouldn’t make a video about me.
man like Marcus is already a legend, he’ll have a great career and then he’ll go on to do even more once he retires. The world would be a better place if more people of influence had hearts like he does.
whenever I hear anything to do with Rashford nowadays I get super emotional. I just never thought I'd see a footballer at his age do so much for people. I relate to some of his struggles but was lucky in a sense that I had both parents, only one worked though. I think I had the same chicken and chips meal for 2 weeks straight when I was younger as we couldn't get any other kinds of food. I've been on free school meals from primary school and still am while at sixth form as my parents can't always afford to give me some money for food. I have gotten a job during the lockdown working at a supermarket. It has helped out massively as I've been able to help my parents whenever they needed to pay for electric or to pay for shopping as they miscalculated. With him being vocal about the free school meals throughout the summer holidays, my mom no longer has to worry as much when she goes to the shops. He is an amazing human being and I hope more young players follow in his footsteps.
You've got respect him for everything hes done in lockdown
Too right!
[Michael]
as a Chelsea fan rivalry aside Rashford has phenomenal talent
I'm a Liverpool fan and even I think this guy is an amazing man and role model
With a heart of gold.....may god bless this man

I watched the darby the other day with my mate from Manchester ( we lived together there in 2012, I'm an Australia ) , he told me all about this guy. This guy is a legend !
Never knew how kind he was. I'm definitely putting some dollars into his charities.
Rashford you are a LEGEND, one of a kind can’t express in words, I wish we could have many Rashfords on earth the people will live a very happy life, God protect you and your family🤲
That's my favourite player
You just cannot dislike this boy. Amazing footballer and amazing person.
I am not English, nor am I a Man.U. fan but this guy is one of my favourite players right now, both on and off the pitch.
This made me really like and apreciate rashford.
And I´m neither english nor a manu fan.
Keep up the good content! :)
fantastic summary on all the good Rashford has done and continues to do! legend at 22
This is so heart warming ❤️
He’s amazing!!!! Just amazing !!
As lfc fan i would say he is a nice player. Good and supportive of his community. A great guy. This is what we need from players in and out🙏
Class act!!
My player my hero
I can proudly say he play in my team.
Legend
What a hero
The dude is a legend
Icon. And he's only 22. Sky's the limit for this boy on and off the pitch.
To all the "as a (insert team I support here)..." comments, the team you support is irrelevant to whether someone is worthy of your respect.
Well said brother, people forget that messi is respected in bernabeu and ronaldo at camp nou despite the rivalry.
I want to see him win in life so badly 🙏🏾
You knicked that van gaal dive like we wouldn't see it 😂😂
Its Sir Marcus to you
wow that's stunning and brave of you to say. how wonderfully virtuous you are
Arsenal fan here : total respect for MR. Puts Mezut Ozil to shame
He deserves a knighthood for his efforts in the covid crisis alone
lingard is older than lukaku, marquinhos, allison, goretzka, dele alli, milinkovic savic, varane, verratti,,icardi and harry kane and is still considered a bright young talent.just give up on him(this is coming from a man united fan)
He's 17 mate, he just came out of the academy. Don't write off a young player too soon
1 penalty later and he's a villain
The video has been out for 4 minutes and 3 people have already disliked. How??
My best player in the universe is rashford , but feel bad that he doesn't even know me 😔
Off so close
First
What did he do?
He said about the many children who have no food/ not much and told the government
RespectRashford ✊
andrew miller Is he paying for it like? It’s a legit question?
Why don’t the parents pay for them? Not the taxpayers fault the parents decided to have them. Rashford is a bit far from the cole face on these issues.
Simon Hughes well the parents don’t have the money so he’s giving it for free?
Ice wallow Come the parents got the money. They don’t want to spends money on their kids eating bro.
Hi
hi
Yo
what ya sayin
Ay
My guy rejected Liverpool and Everton 😂 😂 😂
Rashford's progress and career in general at Man United can be questioned but one thing that's unquestionable about him is his character. What a don!
so it took rashford to raise £20 million to be respected by other football fans
not only that, he managed to change the government decision, and also made a lot of charities
@@randy100799 yeh im a man u fan i love rashford but people hated him until he raised money
@@HassanAhmed-vl4ih yep thats pathetic honestly i always love rashy but yea sometimes i do question his decision making in the game, but always love his personality
@@randy100799 well said my friend
VAR is like GTA. Rugby is the big brother bossing it while Football is the lil scrub who has finally been giving a chance to play (The Honour!!). But they can’t stop walking into walls #😂or😭Feels
Something that seems amazing to me is how England has such good players, the premier league is the best league in the world, and then normal english people are so incredibly bad at football... How do you do It?
He did ? Great player though .
So nobody goona talk about how the most promising RB went to Inter?
hakimi
Watch the podcast that just came out they talked about it there
Mate shut up
@@george.m5779 damn bro
He is more of a wing back and most teams except for inter dont use wing backs .Real also dont use wing backs so its not really a big surprise.

I've NEVER been impressed by Rashford's skills *ON* the pitch. I think ManUtd 'needs another hero' he's a local/English unlike Pogba, Bruno. He's still a young player who has alot more contracts to sign in his future with United. 🤷🏽♀️...... *_HOWEVER, his socialwork and life *OFF_*_ the pitch is much more impressive.*_
Free schools meals ARE NOT free!!! Us the average Joe who earns bare basics will now have our taxes increases! How about increase those who went furlough, NHS staff also will have to pay after working through this pandemic... so as nice a gesture it is about free school meals... how about, if you cant afford to even feed a child (no different to getting a dog) then dont have 1 and expect us tax payers to pay for your child.
He z a thug
The biggest problem in the country is single parents though. Statisticly speaking males are atleast twice as likely to live a life of crime if you have a single parent to those with both parents. The biggest problem in the UK is single parents.
I think it is a tad too far to state 'The biggest problem in the country is single parents....'. What about COVID19? Thousands of Brits are dying from this pandemic. There are a multitude of other issues that are far more serious than single parenthood in the UK.
@@haatpraat2993 a virus with a 0.01% mortality rate for anyone under the age of 60 and who have no pre existing medical conditions is being made into a way bigger problem than it is. The amount of jobs lost and the number of people being made redundant is going to kill more people since money problems are the biggest cause of depression and depression kills more than covid.
A lack of a family structure is literally the biggest cause of crime in this country.
@@michaelsimpson4850 I could be wrong, but I really don't think single parenthood in the UK has killed over 43,000 people in the last 4 months alone, a number that would be significantly higher if the UK government had not taken measures to limit/restrict/prevent the number of cases. This is a number that in 4 months that far exceeds deaths of British military personnel in wars in the Falklands, Iraq (twice), Libya, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan combined over the past 30 years or so. Further, I would also imagine that a fair number of children from single parent homes have actually gone on to fight for the UK or have made a positive contribution to UK society.
@@haatpraat2993 0.00006% of people have died with Covid.
@@michaelsimpson4850 0.00006% of the world population has died with it
Step one☝️: He didn’t.

Don't Ever Disrespect Marcus Rashford EVER Again
Master Kiy haha just a joke mate. But all jokes a side, don’t know if he’s really a hero. Definitely a very talented player and he’s looking the be one of the main players for England.
