Prepare for some bumps, including a close call with a mishap and crucial safety advice for KTM 890R riders. Find respite and relaxation with a well-deserved soak in the Dalhousie Springs, followed by a celebratory beer at Mt Dare. The video wraps up with a damage report and a look at the data from the KTM 890r
Really enjoyed the series mate, awesome trip 💪🤙
Top stuff please always mention the time of year extremely important for city dwellers like me. Luv ya.
Really enjoyed this series, well done and appreciated going over the problems to look out for on the 890. I have seen heaps of Simpson Desert crossings by bike, they never get old. 👍
Cheers mate, yeah them swing arm bolts coming loose are a worry but the rest pretty minor
Drone views about half way through really beautiful; great series.
Thanks mate, bit more practice I reckon will get even better✌️✌️
Great video.. loved it!!
Just a quick tip to you and other guys on bikes on the outback tracks..if possible...switch headlights on (even if just parks as they even make a huge difference) for when you're riding through the dunes on open offroad especially and on overcast days you'll be amazed how far you can be seen up front just so you guys don't go get cleaned up by any bull bars on the way over a hill.
Also, how awesome is sick Rick as when he saw you go down in one of the videos he jumped straight back on his bike and raced up to you to make sure that your ok...and how you kept a check on him with looking in mirror...and that's how Aussies look out for their mates!👍👍👍
Next trip, maybe look at getting a helmet Bluetooth communication kit for talking to each other and is best idea safety wise as for warning each other of dangers.. If not Bluetooth, look at Jaycar and get a pair of small uhf twoways with an earpiece... youll only need the 0.5w or 1watt units ($49.00 for a pair in a small case) where each unit is small as..like smaller than your phone and can get out to one another 2km away so not only can you talk to each other on a chosen channel, you press 'scan', so once you stop talking, it automatically scans all the other channels so if there is other drivers near you, youll pick them up talking and know someone's close so to keep eyes out, and when need to talk to riding buddy again, just press button and talk again..👍
That was totally awesome how you both got along so well as riding buddys!..now it would be good to see a few more episodes of the both of you out conquering all the different Aussie tracks around the country as everyone in 4x4s doing it, but not many bikes! We will all be waiting for next episode.
Cheers! 🍻
👍👍👍
Cheers mate thanks for the info👌👌
Great stuff! Awesome to see someone do it on a big bike unsupported. Giving me some inspriration 🤙 and those outback pubs 😍
Yeah mate get out there, won't disappoint👌👌
Awesome trip, nice editing, and great choice crossing with a buddy!
Yeah cheers mate✌️✌️
Awesome videos of the crossings mate, thanks for sharing! Look like I’ll have to add this one to the list. Apart from them super sloppy bits it looked like the rain might of made conditions spot on 👌.
Yeah exactly mate, apart from the mud it was a pleasure to ride👌👌
1:44 I've come alover a June before ,she wasn't to happy 😂
Very therapeutic Grant, love the solace of riding long distance, even alone. Never thought I'd think about buying an adventure bike at 60. {i'll never sell my old Kawasaki's though}...! Subscribed...
REALLY ENJOYED THE SERIES
Cheers mate✌️✌️
Great trip and entertaining vid 👍 We crossed June 12th and what a difference a week makes...mostly dry and straight across all salt lakes. Base of Big Red was still a mess.
Cheers mate, yeah I'm still buzzing from it. Can't wait to go back the other way and yeah hopefully dry.
That was gold mate the big girl loved it hard to beat that trip maybe have to do the cape to try and match it keep pushing on legend
The cape is next👌👌
Great ride great scenery. The drone Work is fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. 👍
Cheers mate, I'll play around with the drone a bit more and should get even better✌️✌️
faaarking SICK ride mate & great footage love the drone footage mint 👌. This time next yr about 6 of us doing the exact ride will be lucky enough to have a support vehicle carry all the gear so will just be me my camel pack on the KTM 350 so will be awesome 😁 also ya do have me thinking about head ons with 4x4's & other bikes haha but standard bush riding issues anyway look after ya self can't wait to see more of your adventures 👍
Cheers mate, I'll be going back the other way soon👌👌
What an awesome adventure mate. Glad to see the KTM doing great and you made it without any major issues. Cheers on an epic adventure mate 🤙🤙
Cheers mate, was definitely epic👌👌
Awesome adventure mate, thanks for sharing 🙂 You can’t beat trekking through the desert after the rain… Sensational shit 💯
Yeah mate was a bloody good time, despite the mud I reckon we had perfect conditions 👌👌
Gotta do it. The Simpson is on the list! Great Video!
Highly recommend👌👌
Great work on the 890. I did it back in 2018 on my drz400 from Cessnock. I loved it out there. Fingers crossed will be out that way next year.
I'm from cessnock ✌️✌️
Wife and I really enjoyed this series. Great music and commentary. I tore my Kreigas as well and lost a cold six pack, bottle of prosecco and all the the ice in the NT. Spewing, but you get that on the big jobs.😅
I'd rather lose a arm than a 6 pack🤣🤣
Cheers guys✌️✌️
Awesome ride looked like so much fun enjoy the rest of the adventure. 👌
Yeah mate exactly what riding is about, fun and challenges 👌👌
Great video, well done. Loved it.
Thanks mate good to hear✌️✌️
Hey thx for the tip on the swing arm bolt too! Dodged some pain there bro!
Yeah mate I think the worst bit would be losing the bolts out there, would never find them again..
Great job mate…liked like an awesome trip…stumbled across your first video and ended up watching all 3 till Mount dare…great work…and gonna check those swingarm bolts on my 790 tomorrow!😮
Cheers mate yeah checking mine every ride now
Entertaining video. Thank you.
No worries ✌️✌️
Hey mate great video once again, i think those little holes you found at your camp are from inland crabs they live in our deserts only comes out at night drinking condensation droplets that from on its shell...
Yeah wow wish I had of know I would of stayed up to see that👌👌
@@gruntkuntI'm no smart ass 😂 I just enjoy a doco every now and then....I think it was some crab special 😂 from Mr Attenborough
subscribed and just finished your Simpson trip 👌. Hope old mate brought you a beer - awesome to see your riding etiquette looking out for fellow rider..
There was quite a few beers at Mt dare. Cheers mate✌️✌️
Epic ride. Enjoyed it heaps. Bloody DJI Active track, I dont think it likes tracking dark objects.
I don't know why they can't just track the remotes GPS location, then avoid objects on top of that. Anyway keep up the good work. 👍👍
Yeah mate I've been thinking the same thing..
Great to see where you ended up. What an absolute brilliant time you've had.. My hangover after the Hebal Hotel only lasted till the next beer..😂. The #9 cigars might of played a bit of a roll in that.. Speaking of which what style were they and where could we grab a couple of tins of them.. Keep the vids coming they are certainly getting better n better. Maybe ol' mate Alf Stewart will be knocking on your flaming mungral door for a part.. 👍
Hey Brendan, haha yeah that hangover was well worth it👌👌 I'll have to check the cigars I can't remember off the top of my head
they are spider holes I believe
49:33 yippee can't waite 🤣
27:03 drones had to much whisky 🥃😂
For greater tank range check out Aquatune Micro Thrust
Nice work it's a Perler of desert been across a couple of times bike and car as well as other deserts but the Simo is probably the better one to do
Yeah mate loved it👌👌
fuckin good edit mate love ya vids, great to see someone on pootube not givin a fuck about swearing for a change keepin it real!! ,we thank you brother
Haha no worries mate, my vocabulary is 90% swear words, fuck em👌👌
I have missed you were have you been. I am watching you from canada. I love your show.
Haha cheers mate, yeah I'm back, it's been too hot in Australia to ride but it's cooled down now👌👌
Them holes are desert Fanny's try ya luck 😂
🤣🤣 maybe I did
I hope we get to see the rest of the ride ..........
Yeah mate for sure, I've just got a few weeks work on atm but I'll be back to cross the other way soon✌️✌️
Fuck man, the new UFO is definitely adding some cool shots to the videos.
That looks like an epic ride. Also looks like riding fitness is a fairly high priority out there!
Your production skills are getting better too!
Need to get an Ankor power bank for the backpack and a usb c cable to the gopro.
Can run it for about 20 hours on one charge running full resolution with horizon lock.
More footage to cope with later, but you never miss anything if the fkrs running all ride long. No swapping batteries.
20 hrs of footage to edit?? My anxiety is through the roof right now🤣🤣 good idea though, I'll check it out.. though I'm running the media mod now so not sure how I'd plug it in?
The only tree in the Simpson and your drone finds it mate😂
It's a bit of a shock when you come back to civilisation again eh.
Haha yeah pretty average ay, it's like it's attracted to them.
How good are the 890's.
Definitely the most capable proper adventure bike on the market.
Fkn good fuell economy, I used more juice crossing on my DR.
I was gunna ask ya about the Kriega luggage, I'm gunna make a low profile rack to help support the bags. Not those racks that stick way out on the sides, fkn horrible looking things .
Cheers for sharing, mate. 🍻🍻
Mate if ya make up 2 sets we could do a deal of some sort🍺🍺😏.
The whole reason I got them was because they were rackless and 10yr warranty, they were fucked and had holes 6 weeks after I bought them
@gruntkunt I will keep ya in the loop on how I get on mate.
That sped up view of riding would be an actual view of a Dakar rider in the desert. 😲
Haha yeah mate different level them blokes, and women 👌👌
@@gruntkunt
You do alright sir.
No judgement from me.
Livin the dream. 👍
Hey just wondering what was the date roughly you started the crossing, good video
It was the 4th 5th and 6th of June. Cheers mate✌️✌️
So tell me, son. how was personality plus on that trip?
0:35 be able to build some sand castles now then 😅
Fucking oath mate, great series of videos you and sick rick done well there 👌🍻
Cheers mate, we rode well together considering we only met 3 days earlier 👌👌
Hey mate we're crossing the Simspon in 4 weeks on a mix of 701and 501's. How long ago was it you took these videos? Thanks Brett
We finished on 6th June
Might see ya out there✌️✌️
Just noticed another CZcamsr - his channel “another guy on a bike” doin a similar run! Be sick if you guys connect up for the trip back!
I'll check him out now✌️✌️
How many litres of fuel did u use
35.5 liters 👌👌
😁
I thought part 1 was good. Son. how was fucking good? Was that?
Mate that was 1 of the best days rides I've had, and topped it off with a swim and a beer👌👌
2:53 is hienrich still with you .
Who's Hienrich?
@@gruntkunt the Japanese guy riding with you ye .
48:52 kreiga 10 year warranty mate don't forget 48:52
I took them back after 6 weeks cause they had holes, @kriega said it was normal wear and tear. I'll never go near their gear again..
@@gruntkunt JB weld then mate
would racks help?
@@aussietrekker yeah but the reason I got them bags was because they are rackless
holes = spinifex ants
Cheers mate
