Happy you liked this Kenshi Yonezu song!
Since i heard you talk about horns i have to recommend you "Kanden" (by him too), this song has really nice sound design and is really funky too.

So, Yonezu Kenshi rarely explicitly explain the meaning of lyrics behind his songs because he’s afraid that an”official” interpretation would ruin people’s own interpretations. Flamingo is the first song he wrote after Lemon. The newfound attention and popularity of his work really stressed him out for a time. So he made Flamingo, with the intention of letting out his weak, irresponsible side that can’t fit in the normal societal standard. It’s his way of breaking the stereotypes people have of him that they got from Lemon. Honestly I think it’s best to not interpret his lyrics in term of some real event that actually happened to him, because often times it’s pure symbolism… his explanation of the lyric of this song is simply “A man that felt lonely because the women won’t look back at him”
Sorry if this is too long, I have to reread some of his interviews to confirm my memory of details

Thank you for the detailed summary of his process. I totally understand his feeling regarding lyrical interpretations, as this is how I feel with my own lyrics too. The piece becomes smaller as soon as you explain it.
