    Thanks very much for the video - good info. But I'd sure think there would be a better way to ship a gasket than the current method where a person has to massage and work with the new gasket for up to a couple weeks. Wow. (OK - I see comments below about a bathtub with hot water - yeah that sounds much easier.)

    very good video, one of the best i have seen. i find its quicker to soak the gasket in hot water (sink) for a few minutes and then lay flat for a few hours. Or you can install the gasket and then heat it up with a hair dryer on the door and then close the door and keep the door closed for 20 minutes - this is just to speed up the process , your process works just as well. keep up the good work.

    Very interesting video. Glad I found it. I need a gasket for the lid/top of a Hotpoint Model # HHM7SM AWW chest freezer, I've had no luck in finding one. I wonder if as a last resort this will work or at least help? Or maybe some kind of universal gasket? Btw love the shirt.

    Great video. I would like to ask if I can use a universal seal for the refrigerator instead of the original one? It costs around €100. If I have the height, width and thickness measured, it should be fine, what do you think? Type: Liebherr KGT 4066 Index 25A / 001

    installed new gasket today in whirlpool fridge door, and it went poorly. insulation ripped out with the gasket from the top which made me think I was doing something wrong for a while. eventually I got the gasket out and the new one in but it wouldn't hold in place so I had to use the self tapping screws included to pin the plastic liner and the metal door together and trap the seal...it was not the most elegant solution but clearly that's the only way. I'm now hoping that it works ok cause I'm gonna get a new fridge if I have to do this again.

      No, we are suggesting leaving the gasket installed on the door and leaving the door closed so that it gasket forms to the shape of the door and cabinet of the refrigerator.

    I’m going to need a chiropractor and a masseuse after replacing the seal. Oh my God I’m so beat up..
    Having the hairdryer definitely worked or helped but part part of it was the Styrofoam I had a chip away to make room for the new seal to slip in
    And it was real pain the bottom to slip in

    If you have to leave the door closed (for a few days/weeks) after installing the new gasket, does that mean I cannot use the freezer for my meat etc?

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Před 11 měsíci

      In most cases you should be able to continue to use the refrigerator/freezer as long as it is not leaking too much.

    Why do you take the door off? Can you do this with the door left on?

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Před 11 měsíci

      It depends on the refrigerator that you are working on. Some can be replaced while the door is on and others you have to remove the door to install the gasket.

    So you take the whole freezer door out? Thinking you use everything in the freezer or get a cooler with dry ice?

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, you have to remove the freezer door on most bottom freezer models. You can tape a piece of cardboard in place while you do the repair. We have a video on replacing the gasket here: czcams.com/video/QElSFeanhvc/video.html and here: czcams.com/video/qI02gguRK_4/video.html

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Před 2 měsíci

      @@BurningDesire_letsgo With a top freezer, you should be able to leave the door in place while replacing the gasket. If you prepare the gasket in advance, it should seal up pretty quickly in most cases.
