I watched this documentary for the first time tonight and loved it! Ian Tyson and Gordon Lightfoot have been two of my all time favourites for at least 40 years and to see them together was fantastic even if their voices are not the best anymore. Both Canadian icons and both fabulous song writers. Have had the pleasure of seeing them both in concerts over the years. Thanks for uploading this!
Jim Croce. John Denver. Patsy Cline. Ian Tyson and Gordon Lightfoot, Glen Campbell, Loretta Lynn. Kenny Rogers and of course, Leonard C. all of them, legendary . My heart, my favorite singers and my pride.😫😢😭. I still ❤️ Canada, too. Oh yes. And Olivia Newton John. Who could ever forget that amazing woman and singer?
Two great Canadians, love you both. But I have great memories of Ian as he was one of my dad's favourites. I was lucky enough to see Gordon in Halifax in 1979. Unfortunately i've never see Ian live. God how i wish i had. I just love Navaho Rug and Summer Wages to name a few.
what a delight to see these 'old dudes'(my age...!)...Fine musicians who have been a great part of my life since the old 'Yorkville Days'! Canadian Legends!!!
I am from the US and there are only a couple Western Singers that can even "touch" Ian. Chris LeDoux, God rest his soul, is one. I think Ian sings of the real ranch/rodeo life. God bless him!
nmelkhunter1 I know this is old, so I thought I’d tell you there’s been a sort of rebound of Western singers in recent years. I can give names if you’d like.
I'll trade Canada our entire congress, a president and his cabinet, and throw in the IRS for just a handful of your great musicians. You've sure got 'em up there!
Hey Anne! I just piggy-backed on your comment in this series from a year ago -- the interview with Ian and Sylvia singing together. Funny to see you right at the top of the comments again right here. (Not that I think I know you in the real world.) Take care!
I admire these guys even if this pretty screwed up try at Red Velvet. I had to laugh when Ian says, "oh a key change!" in surprise. The key change he's referring to is one of the most important moves in the whole song - and it is only a temporary key change as, in the original, there is a melodious transition back to the original key of D (that was part of the problem here because Gord starts off in G and Ian didn't really get that clear (or his fingers didn't!)
Two great Canadian Legends love there music!
RIP Ian
Ian is such a great writer and singer. He was under appreciated for his great songs

Classic performers!! My 2 favourites!!
I love Gordon’s voice, but I have always maintained that Ian Tyson and Noel Stookey have the most beautiful voices in folk music lore.

Anne Murray, The Guess Who, Terri Clark.
2 music legends
Rip Ian and Gordon god bless you both
A marvelous moment in time
These two guys, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, There's more to Canadian music
than you might have discovered.
Don't forget Guess Who's Barton Cummings and Richard Bachman. Cummings one the very best pop voclalists IMHO.
The Band - Steppenwolf....

Shaan P Please do. There’s nothing “old” about Western music.
Michael Martin Murphy. Would have been a blast to see those two if they ever toured together-one from each side of the border.
I love you. So wise and great songwriter and voice.
they are both national treasures
Ian & Gordon make great music for us in Alberta people & make proud to be from Alberta
Terrific to see them together.

Shows they're human and fallible--makes it all the more real and endearing. What great artists!
