▸ Who Is Batman: Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy, the Joker.
Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021. DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.

What's pretty cool about the confrontation between Batman and Bane, is that Batman used the same strategy that Bane used to defeat Batman in Knightfall. In Knightfall, Bane defeated Batman by releasing all the inmates of Arkham Asylum, which forced Batman to hunt down all the released villains. After many weeks of non-stop crime fighting and putting villains back into Arkham, Batman was exhausted physically and mentally. Straight after Batman put away the last villain, Batman went back into the Bat-cave to Rest. Unfortunately, Bane was waiting in the Bat-cave to ambush Batman in his exhausted state; and break his back..
I thought the strategy used by Batman here where he released the Arkham inmates to "buy time" was a nice homage to Knightfall. Also, to fight off the inmates; Bane had to inject himself with venom, and venom has negative side effects which would have affected Bane's mental state by the time he finally caught up to Batman.
Also, I found myself rooting for Bane in this story.

You should check out Batman: Brother to the Bat. Before the New 52 revamped DC, this story set Batman and Bane up as brothers basically, and had a lot of team-up fights with them.

Batman gets brutally violated by Bane to the point where he probably shouldn't even be alive, then remembers his friend and gets enough strength to one-shot Bane with a headbutt... That's some shounen anime type shit. I mean, I get what they were going for here with the reverse Knightfall idea, but it just felt a little anti-climactic at the end.
I mean, I get Bane was tired, but still. Seeing him get defeated by a headbutt seemed so anticlimactic to me. And how was Batman's skull not crushed after the curbstomps? Talk about headstrong. But yeah, I kinda liked the story.
Sidious it wasn't the head butt that brought babe down. It was the drag out fight and the feeling of victory over Batman that brought him down with a headbutt.

History of Video Games Bane is almost as close to bulletproof as a human can possibly be. A headbutt would've hurt him but seeing it put him down for the count felt weird. All that build up for a headbutt just felt "Eh". It's like when John Cena or Roman Reigns get their ass kicked through out a match but somehow pull off one finisher and get the win. It's just very, "meh".
As ruthless and strong as Bane was, I can't see him taking all three Robins without sustaining serious harm.

Supa Saul I could buy that if it was one or two of them, but I don't see you catching Damian, Jason and Dick simultaneously off guard. Maybe a trap, but I'd still hold that with Jason and Damian's killing intent that Bane would take some damage.

I didn't like "I Am Gotham" that much but "I Am Suicide" renewed my interest in this series and "I Am Bane" (this video's focus) is amazing.
Alfred is once again correct. Clark Kent disguised as Batman would have ended this conflict with Bane 'quick, fast, and in a hurry' while enabling Bruce to free the hostages and limit casualties. I believe they have defeated Bane with a similar strategy in the DCAU. Who knows? Maybe I'm simply searching for an excuse for an another awesome team-up.

Bane is smart he will know that batman was superman. he knows that batman can only be bruce wayne. if superman came in he will see that batman is only a coward not backing up anything he said. he can dish out fear but afraid to fight bane. its about fighting your own battle.

Usually with the exception of a few villains technically every villain in gotham can be eradicated by the jlor just superman but for the sake of the story that doesn't happen.Else it should be like Batman Endgame where the league was incapacitated.Good storyline though all the same

I wanted to point something you forgot to mention in this video. I am Bane was a sort of reversal of Knightfall in the sense Batman turned the tables on Bane by releasing the Arkham inmates, just like Bane did on Batman in Knightfall. Bane released the inmates of Arkham to wear Batman down before he made his final move on Batman and broke his back. So in the I am Bane story, Batman did just that as well. He did it to wear him down and buy time. It's a mirror of Knightfall in a way which I thought was really cool. :)
I am so psyched for the following story arc about the button with the flash... finally were going to get into the knowledge behind whats been going on with the entire rebirth world, after the major hero arcs are finally revealed and wrapped up.... I so cant wait...

The only issue that I had with this story was that ending. If Rebirth!Bane can take out Solomon Grundy so casually it's almost off-panel, than a head butt shouldn't put him down. Did anybody else fee like Bats was leading Bane into Arkham so Gotham Girl would take him out? I really thought that's where this was going.

Bane had to deal with using a lot of venom to take out Solomon Grundy ans the other guy, then fight through a lot of supervillains, venom has negative effects to it. Batman probably waited for the right moment for the effects to be to that point where a hit to the brain would knock him out. With Superman, I guess it's Batman's way of believing he failed Gotham girl and Gotham and that using the league before was a mistake to make her kill her brother, or maybe as a personal vendetta for trying to kill the robins.
I totally thought that she was going to. I've been reading through since a big chunk of issues were made available on DC Universe. I'm enjoying it but I agree that some things make no sense.

lets face it Bane took out Freeze, Zsaz, SOLOMON GRUNDY AND AMYGDALA, with only some blood splatter on his face and he only needed to increase his venom output once heck even without venom Bane broke batman's back casually while naked(I am Suicide) and Bane did not even needed that much venom to break Batman's back he beat the EVER LIVING S**T OUT OF THE ROBINS(side note apparently banes henchmen can take out Robin and hang them after there unconscious). And to put a neat little bow on it Bruce told the bat family to get out of Gotham. Batman has only done this so few many times. Bruce stated that Bane could take out the Justice League just with his cunning. Did I mention that Bane is tactical genius. And Bane is one the best martial artists in the world who without venom was a match for batman.
Even though Bane is super strong lets face it he has A MASSIVE PAIN TOLERANCE(like every superhero ever but still)
