I am a ditto with the folks commenting below on the O'Cedar mop bucket .. I love mine but I use a separate bucket for clean water and just use the wringer mechanism and bucket to catch the dirty water .. otherwise, you are just mopping and wringing with the dirty water after the first pass .. was a good concept but need to keep the fresh water/dirty residue water separate ..
Yes, I like to have separate clean and dirty buckets. Usually the clean bucket gets dirty because you cant get everything out of the mop by wringing, but it still helps. I just don't know where I would keep two of those things in this tiny place.
They have a 2nd gen mop that separates the dirty and clean water, O-Cedar EasyWring RinseClean Spin Mop & Bucket System
I know, but I already paid about $30 for the one I have so I'll just have to make it work @@panglebangle9445
I use a small bucket that fits in the open end of the O'Cedar bucket .. the water from the spinner collects in the bottom and doesn't mix with the clean water .. then I just store it away with the bucket inside .. maybe this will work for you ..@@kenmore01
@@panglebangle9445 Thank you! I'll look for that.
I use a Bona mop - and a pair of rubber gloves.
I like that the Bona head is very flat and swivels so it can get under furniture easily. The microfiber is good at scrubbing away any dried spots on my kitchen floor. And I really like that it's a *damp* mop and doesn't leave puddles. I rinse and wring the mop head in my kitchen sink. [This is where the gloves come in.] The head is just a hunk of fabric, so it's easy enough to do. Then I put it on the floor, put the handle section on top, and clean away.
FYI, my floors are linoleum tile in the kitchen, ceramic tile in the bathroom and 125 year old hardwood everywhere else. To save my floors I mop as seldom as possible, and with a *damp*, not wet mop. I live alone, on the upper floor of a city duplex, no shoes inside, and no pets. I have a Roomba that handles the sweeping 3 times a week. My floors stay pretty clean and I can go a long time between mopping. I say all this because different floors and different use patterns will change the best equipment to care for them.
I love the spin mop. I have been keeping house for 40+ years and am picky about the cleanliness of the floors. I have tried probably every way of mopping and the spin mop is definitely the one I've stuck with. Hint to new house cleaners, if the mop water is still pretty dirty when you dump it then unfortunately you probably need to refill and keep going. When the floor is clean the water you dump should be pretty clear or almost clear. Also keep the mop head freshly laundered, there is no point of mopping with a dirty mop 😀
I bought this mop after reading the ATK review months back and it was shockingly effective. Like it's a very light mop but it worked perfectly and was easy to clean. One of the best $50 I ever spent
Hmmm. Really did not like the O-Cedar mop at all when I tried it. Nor any of the other SpinMop clones I've tried. They are annoying to use, you HAVE to use their special bucket, and they all broke before they were 2 years old. I'll have to give the Rubbermaid a try at some point, but for my money, the Libbman Wonder Mop is currently the best floor mop I have used. It's easy to use and wring out (even with arthritis in my hands), it cleans very well, extra/replacement heads are cheap, and the only time I had one break I was able to fix it with a few minutes and some two-part epoxy.
100% agree ! The spin mop works great. I’ve tried many over the years
I live in Mexico and have tile floors everywhere. I have to mop quite a bit because of the street dust.
I have the stand alone mop, mine came with two mop heads and I love it. I can throw it right in the washer and dryer and I swear they both are still bright white when they come out and my floors are always looking great....so much so that 2 of my friends asked about the floors and bought the same mop for their houses.
What is your everyday go to cleaner for your tile floors
Thanks for your review! I've been looking at the Rubbermaid mop.

Lol! Fabulosa and I rinse with a vinegar water...no streaking
@@cmt635 I had a residential house cleaning biz and plain vinegar is great for wood floors, too.
how does this work on the grout? I find grout hard to clean without a scrub brush and that dirty water pools in it
The wring type mops are difficult for me because of arthritis pain in my wrists, making twisting type motions very painful and ineffective. I could go for the one that has the wringing actions done by the mechanism in the bucket. ❤
My partner's mother uses the Ocedar one. Was made slightly better 10 years ago but still does the job for her now.
Check out Dr. Bergs video on arthritis. You do t have to suffer
@@dee468 Trust me, I am addressing my arthritis along with my doctor. I trust her expertise, so I am not interested in videos from another doctor. Thanks anyway.
@@dee468 I have my own doctor but thanks.

As a cleaning fanatic (and also a dog fanatic-- yes, I know, two polar ends of the spectrum) I had to watch to learn what mop I needed to buy next. It's a big deal to me!
There’s a newer version of the winning mop that has separate compartments in the bucket for clean and dirty water. I will try it when my bucket breaks, but for now mine is fine. The new one is like $50. For a MOP.
I bought that O'Cedar mop and stopped using it after the first use. That plastic triangle piece kept scraping the floor. The mop just seemed flimsy. Junk! I love the wringer style mops. They're not that hard to use. If I had the space to put one, I'd spring for the Rubbermaid commercial bucket/wringer and commercial mop. Nothing like them.
There you are always counting on your review and I will go buy one of these...thank youuu!!!
I have the O Cedar and love it for my tile floors!
My concern about the O-Cedar mop is that the water in the bucket likely gets dirty very quickly, meaning the water must be changed frequently. I prefer to have a clean bucket of water throughout, so I will often ring out a mop like the Rubbermaid one in the bathtub, so that the water in the bucket stays cleaner longer. (And, yes, of course I have to clean the tub afterwards!) Thank you so much, Lisa, Hannah, and ATK, for all the great reviews you do for us!
the o cedar mop has another version called the rinse clean mop. it has separate containers for clean and dirty water
The O-cedar is the best! But you’ll need to buy a longer handle. I’m 5’7, and the included wand about killed my back.
I can always count on the test kitchen to inform❤
From the description box: "The best mops make it easy to keep floors (and hands) clean. Which option checks all the boxes?"
How many boxes were considered? How long were all of the mops used? Under what conditions were they used? Were they used only in the test kitchen(s), with only professional adults using the mops as recommended, or were they also used in the real day-to-day world? Did the mops and buckets get taken to anyone's home for a few weeks, where at least a few kids and teenagers (and husbands) had a few go's, and used the mops with little, and maybe an entire absence of, willingness? That would be the real test of value. Mops and buckets aren't as pricey as excellent quality cooking and baking equipment, but still pricey to replace if the mechanisms last only slightly longer than a poor performing mixer or baking sheet, or an apple in the fridge, especially in real world (ie. less- than-ideal) conditions, where most of the viewers live.
Exactly one minute is devoted to the title's topic. 0:03 intro, 0:04-1:04 about two mops and a bucket, but nothing about length of testing or under what conditions. Then 1:05-2:18 of ATK ads/promos. 1 minute 13 seconds that could have _also_ been devoted to the topic of the title of the video.
Whether mops, baking sheets, or sauciers, going in depth on what you're talking about is what I value about these videos, including durability; knowing the "winners," aka best performers, is valuable; knowing _why_ they're the best performers, and how durable the items are, are highly valuable and important pieces of information. This video is disappointing. I know you can do better, and I look forward to that happening in future videos.
I get excited for these kind of videos… yeah, i’m getting old 😅
The best mops are the hospital style that use the detachable pads that you can wash in the sink or laundry. The last thing I want is a musty mop sitting around my house
I have the O'Cedar. I love it except for one thing. The mop handle is too short! I am not super tall or anything, but it is still way too short! Currently looking for a longer handle that is compatible with the mop heads.
Their latest model is telescoping.
I know. Mine is telescoping. Sadly, even at it's maximum length it is still too short. Very annoying @@JonMeFree
@@laurelmcf1mop handle threads are usually universal. Perhaps the hardware store has a telescoping painters handle that will work? They come in many different lengths to paint tall walls.
That’s cool! I have both mops and I just discovered ATK recommends them! 😅
Love the spin mop.
I like the joymop system!!!!
I also love the oxo scrub brush for my tile & tub, but wish it had a long stick handle option.
what do u do about dirty water? dirty mop? using the dirty water and dirty mop to clean floor?
I use the o-cedar because it takes care of my needs to clean up after three mini doxies.
Long time OCedar user here with a big tip: Use a 2nd
Bucket for your clean water and the Spin Bucket for the dirty stuff
Just wondering about that 2nd bucket of clean water ? How does the water stay clean ?Do you dunk the dirty mop into the clean water or is the mop magically clean after rinsing it in the dirty water??
@@lopez8871 not completely and pay attention and don't be an idiot, the thing doesn't rinse out in the water it spins the dirty water out of the mop
This video was so concise, helpful, and well made that I am liking and commenting just to encourage the algorithm to please encourage more of this type of thing.
O cedar has a new version of that mop with separate containers for the clean and dirty water. Does anyone know if ATK reviewed the newer version?
They haven't. The actual review was conducted a couple of years ago and it does appear that O Cedar was experiencing supply issues with that mop set around that time as it had just been introduced a few months earlier. ATK does occasionally update their reviews so a review of that mop and bucket may be forthcoming.
I found the O Cedar bucket in the alley after a move. Took it home but have yet to try it out, since Swiffer is my usual mop method.
I think it's pretty hard to beat a good commercial style cotton mop with a commercial mop bucket and wringer, so that's what I use. The Rubbermaid commercial mop bucket and wringer may be a little expensive and bulky for home use, but you can't argue that it doesn't get the job done. Also, not for nothing, but home kitchens should have floor drains, just like commercial kitchens, so you can really rinse down the floor and allow it to drain. Otherwise, you are really just pushing dirty water and cleaning solution around, and allowing the residue to dry on the floor.
I agree, although a floor drain in the home kitchen is a little over the top. I use the commercial kind. I've tried one that had the handle-twisting action to wring it out, but it just wasn't tough enough. The salad-spinner kind is an interesting gimmick but I'm not sure how long it would last. Neither one of them look big enough. Disclaimer: I put myself through college doing janitorial work and the commercial kind is what I'm used to using.
I agree with this but you don’t need the commercial bucket. There’s a o’cedar bucket that has a strainer at the top for pressing the mop. It works great. It’s not the spinner bucket.
Oh, we own a different version of the winner! We love using it to clean up after the dogs track muddy paws in after rain storms
Love it
I like my spin mop the best. The round ones can’t get into corners very well so I prefer the triangle shaped mop.
The ocedar is one of the worst for me. If lifting or moving it when it has water in, mine tends to tip to one side, spilling some of the contents on the floor.
Ive been wondering about the spin mop buckets on the market. I am a 9 year stroke survivor with only the use of one arm. I currently have a mop that i qring out that usnt too bad but i think the spun bucket system would dry the mop out better and would keep my laminate floors in better condition. I have laiminate throughout the house since i frequently use a wheelchair and I have 3 dogs. Thanks Lisa!
Thanks for adding actual captions for the Deaf
But when you ring the mop out in the bucket, all the dirty water goes back into the mop water. Next time you dip mop into water it is now dirty water. How is this clean?
You have the potential to turn this channel into the best Tesla fit-it channel.
Rinsing out the dirty water into clean water, then soaking your mop back into the dirty water and putting it back onto the floor doesn't make sense to me. Am I missing something here? I don't understand the purpose of a single bucket mop system.
Couldn’t agree more!
Cheap Dollar Store bucket for clean water, spin out dirty water into bucket that comes with the mop.
However, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a bucket with two sides built in?
Shark Tank here I come! 😂
Ocedar makes an upgraded slightly more expensive model that has an insert so you always have clean water. Kinda of surprised they didn’t feature it, but half the video was an ad so maybe not that surprised.
@@srogers88 I’ll look into that. Thank you!!
They do also make a spin mop that keeps the fresh and dirty water separated. Down side, it's $50 dollars!😳
Your supposed to rinse the mop between each use and change the water. That way you’ll know how clean the floor is by the clarity of the water
O Cedar has another model that doesn't mix dirty with clean water....why did they choose this model?????
They didn't review the one with the separate chamber. The actual review was conducted a couple of years ago and it does appear that O Cedar was experiencing supply issues with that mop set around that time as it had just been introduced a few months earlier. ATK does occasionally update their reviews so a review of that mop and bucket may be forthcoming.
@@sandrah7512 So why review something they did already?......They should have done a completely new review instead of just collecting views...
I tried the O Ceder map as it was highly recommended and was one of the worst mops I ever used. 1. the pole seemed too short. 2. the telescopic pole kept sliding as it didn't seem to really lock well. 3. The mop itself didn't scrub well for anything that was actually "stuck" to the floor. I ended up returning it and continue using my libman mop
Is this good on wood floors?
In Canada, O-Cedar is Vileda. Once you use the winner, the other mops won’t do it for you!
Best mop ever is the Canadian Tire brand mop, similar to the o Cedars but it keeps the dirty water separate from the cleaning solution and it's really cheap.
The twin bucket system tthat allows clean and dirty water to stay separate?
Good morning! I am looking at getting a food processor. I know you have reviewed those before. However… I am wondering if you have a recommendation for Kitchen Aid Processor Attachment vs your top rated Processor Machine (don’t remember which that is). FYI… I do have a Kitchen Aid mixer already. On Amazon at the time of this post, the attachment is $159.95 (on special), so I am kind using that as my ceiling cost wise and for the machine, I would be looking for a unit about 6-8 cups. My main uses for which ever I get would be dicing, slicing, and grating.
Breville or Cuisinart.
Bought that spin mop...waste of money. Hated it. It didn't have a place for clean water and the head on mine was really hard to get off. I realize they have a newer bucket now that has both, but it also took up a lot of room. Also the fibers held too much water and also stuff got stuck in them and didn't want to come out.
I expected more than just 20 seconds ad.
I own this mop set. And it's excellent!
The O cedar I have BUT the spinner gear acted like it was a bit stripped. Because of this I have to press on the foot pedal VERY SLOWLY. Too bad there wasn’t an INDUSTRIAL type of this device. Ugh plastic!
rell me about a mop that cleans deep grout lines on a ceramic tile floor.
Is it a good one for tile floors
I love my O Cedar on my tile floors, super easy to use!
There’s a bucket that has a wringer on the top where you just press the mop in. It looks like the spinner bucket but you can just use it with any mop. It’s the best choice. Those mops with bendable handles are terrible. You can’t apply pressure to the job. You need a mop on a sturdy wooden broom handle.
I wish this country I'm currently reside have all those great tools, all they have in their store are Chinese copies with trash design and quality. And if you count how many times you have to replace them, it becoming expensive.
I like my O'Ceader mop
I dont think it's that brand, but I use this mop at home and it works great.
O Cedar=USA, Vileda=Rest of the World
There really is a CZcams video for everything.
I prefer a spray mop these days.
I love my spin mop! Best mop ever, it’s so easy to use.
Sitting down to take a break from my own cleaning, was very disappointed to find that half this clip is a commercial. Booooo.
We got more Dan than we did mop review. No Complaints!
Isn't the o cedar the same as the vileda just more expensive?
O Cedar=USA, Vileda=Rest of the World.
I have bought this mop time and time again. It works good a short time then both the bucket and mop fall apart. You obviously didn't use it more than once
The O cedar buckets spinner pin gives out and it's not easy to pump the spinner, hold the mop steady the bucket gave out in 4 months. Loved the mop and heads, but bucket was a disappointment
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I was hoping that you could demonstrate some uses for the mop in the kitchen for cooking
They forgot to mention, you can easily take off the head of this mop and put it in the washing machine.
She explicitly mentioned this
I would not purchase the O Cedar or any mop with that head on it. They don't rinse well in spite of the spin mechanism. Also you need a wash bucket (with your choice of cleaning agent) and a separate rinse bucket to rinse the mop in. Otherwise you are mopping with the dirty water you are rinsing into your wash bucket with. Those mop heads can leave the floor too wet and it takes longer for the floor to dry. I prefer the sponge mops with dense cellulose. Stiff enough to scrub with, rinse out pretty well, and are easily and more economical to replace when it comes time.
2/3 of this video is ads lol

More than half this video is a commercial
The bucket on that spin mop will fall apart after a couple of years. I've gone through two.
fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.
Are you guys secretly being paid by O-Cedar? Because two cheap buckets and a cheap mop do a much better job than the O-Cedar mop. With the O-Cedar mop, you’re literally using dirty water to mop your floor.
