I've been trying to not regret getting an sl8 rather than the T-36. I kind of like it how it is in stock configuration, but I think I am going to send it to Tommybuilt for the xm8 conversion for something a little different.
I have an SL8 with a 24X scope with adjustable parallax. With the loads that agree well with the gun, 1/2" groups at 100 yards are a reality. The trigger, while not comparable to a Jewell on a Rem 40X action, is still OK. It's at least not too heavy and it is predictable. There's a lot more gun here than many people realize.
please more vids! i just bought one at well. not sure if i wanna keep it as is or save up for a while and just do the basic conversion. i really want that taller carry handle without the integrated sight just the rail but they're hard to find and about 300-700 dollars. Also was not aware about that bolt catch issue.
My SL8 came stock with a taller carry handle, what version is yours? Cause I do know that some of the other versions came with different carry handles. Mine is the 6th model.
@@GunsandGames2002 I was talking about the g36E and g36k carry handle. There's a couple different versions. The one with the two integrated sights and the one with a bump rail in place. It's taller than the one that comes with the SL8.

@@evanwiger it’s much cheaper to buy a Tommybuilt from his website than to do a conversion. However his stock is very limited and it’s not very often that he has built rifles in stock. Most people find it best to keep their SL8 as a more accurate sport rifle rather than doing a conversion on it since there’s a few drawbacks such as worse accuracy due to smaller barrels and being that they will not function properly right away and need to be broken in before it functions properly. I guess they tend to “stovepipe” pretty often after being converted until broken into.
Can you please tell me what is the outer diameter of the barrel at the working end. Is it 19 mm (0,748") ? Is it less or more? Me personally, since I'm from EU, I can get my hands on hk243, but the reason I would buy SL8 is the barrel and the stock - it strikes me like a sniper rifle. How precise is this thing? People dont exactly praise HK243 as a very precise gun, so I was thinking if SL8 does better that way. Thanks.
The sl8 probably is more accurate and precise since it has a “bull” barrel on it. Heavier barrel. It is rifled. And it’ll stay cooler longer with the extra metal on the barrel. So I would say that the sl8 is gonna be a lil more accurate than the hk243. However, it is limited to 10rnd mags unless you buy the 20rnd ones online.

They’re pretty nice, I actually really like em, I do believe that the follower on them is too low to make your bolt catch work though, which is a shame. And they’re pretty tall, so I wouldn’t expect to be comfortable without standing.
