  • Welcome to I.E. Euros.
    Hi, I am Francisco.
We are a group of vehicle enthusiasts looking for Car meets, car shows, drag racing, roll racing, New cars, etc,..
this process is going to be similar ta all BMW with M54 engines
this is the process you have to follow to check for misfire codes or random misfire codes on you BMW or any gasoline engine. this wil tell you where the problem is located, if the engine compression is within range, you haveto check fuel delivery components and ignition components to do a full reserch of the problem .
    symptoms of this problem are
    low power
    engine unstable idle
    check engine light on
    high fuel comsuption

These engines tend to suffer from the piston rings becoming "stuck" to the pistons and they fail to expand to the cylinder walls and thus, low compression. Normally this is caused by a build up of gunk and dirt and quite often, can happen after an oil change, especially if you have just moved from say 10w40 to 5w30. It happened to mine. Most people start thinking "oh my god i need new rings, engines got to be torn down, etc" but thats not the case. Take all the plugs out and get some seafoam and pour a small amount into each cylinder. Bare in mind that these engines sit at an angle so you want to put enough in there to cover the piston. Then simplyleave it to soak overnight. I turned my engine over by hand the following day, just to "work in" the seafoam. Then i added a second amount and left that overnight. The result, running fine with no more random missfire codes or rough running or backfiring. Then as good maintenance, put it in your fuel to aid cleaning in the future.

Lost compression in my 330ci 2004 model below 30 in three valves I have a good mechanic he says the same thing engine will be too expensive to fix.

there are methods by which you can find out what the problem is, valves or piston, without disassembling the engine. and if it is only valves they can be replaced and are not expensive at all .

Sea foam is a joke. Ripoff snake oil. Just use some atf and acetone. It was good enough for my grandpa it’s good enough for me. I used sea foam once on a ticking engine and it turned that tick into a rod knock within 10-15 mins. Should have just added a couple bottles of STP and drive it till it blew.
