@@e36fanatics You are dam right. I replaced my valve cover gasket just got it done the other day. 21 years old, I don't think it was ever changed. That rubber was burned onto the frame of where it sits. I had oil in the plug wells too. So far so good on that. Its running better, but the problem is not solved. I still have 2 misfire codes popping right back up. Nice that its running better though.
It helps if you do your own work when replacing parts because otherwise its would be a nightmare. Well, with a 21 year old car it already is a nightmare..........

Great job. 👍 also, the brake booster can cause a vacuum leak. If you hear a hissing sound from inside the car with the radio turned off and the car running it could be the brake booster.

I had I misfire on cylinder 3 on cold star for as long I can remember and it was only on open loop until someone told me about the map sensor that they tend to go bad only when the engine is cold and he was right cause I change everything you mentioned on ur video and I was still getting cold star misfire until I replace the map sensor and now it runs like new .but thank you any way for ur information very helpful indeed

Tahir Iqbal I don’t ever reccomending it be changed I have my e60 on160k no change ever still runs perfect and smooth since day one
E46 159k gearbox still strong and sweet and pulls smooth as I always say it must be something on the USA where the gearboxes suffer from all that heat over there that breaks down your oil as here you hardly hear of that only on diesels and that’s ONLY when people remap them
Here we are not over the top like that servicing gearboxes and that there sealed for life sealed for life in my time of owning 100s of these cars I ain’t EVER changed the fluid and that’s been on cars with 270k with no history at all

Hello, I have problems on cold start for a few seconds the idle is rough, and afterward everything is good i would say. All glow plugs are changed and the relay too. Can an oxygen sensor be faulty without reporting an DTC? What is the best way to test it, can it be cleaned maybe?
The car is E91 LCI 318D 105kw 11/09, it has only 1 oxygen sensor I would say only on the DPF, next to the temperature exhaust sensor and the pipe for pressure sensor.
Thank you for the answer in advance.

The part @ 5:30 of your video again please boss? I hear major air noise right from that area, and I don't ever remember hearing it like that. I already had to change the valve cover gasket (never changed in 21 years) due to oil in the plug wells. Its running better. I also ran and put in some STP waterI th remover and put in 100% pure gas (NO ETHANOL). Its running better than before, but the codes are back, and its still missing.....I think the part @5:30 where you start about it is a problem too.

First off al thx for your vids it has helpt qiet a bit :) i have a question i hope you can awnser my car is a e39 m54b25 2001 i have this issue thats bin bothering me for a long time, the car starts and runs fine on the low end but when it revs to 5k rpms it shuts of cyl 4 5 and 6 it ised to shit off only 5 and 6
I have read the codes and when is goed into limp i can reset the ecu and it wil run fine again , i have done vacuum test i have replaced coils and plugs also tested the o2 and switched to another one stil the problem remains i have switched the wire harnes of the coils for one i know is good ( I thought faulty wires) problem remains. Only option i think i have left are injectors or feul filter/pressure regulator ? Codes are p01349 p01351 p01353. I wil switch injectors with bank 1 to bank 2 to see if the problem goes to bank one then i know its injectors.
Greeting from holland keep up the vids 🤙🏼

I don’t really know any cheap scanners mate if I’m beeing honest lol as I don’t use cheap scanners the only thing I ever recommend with bmw is Ista because it gets the problem there and then without messing about and sending you around rings on the car like other scanners do and no other scanner can bring up electrical fault codes aswell as shadow codes

any idea why could my m54b25 e46 compact be runing sometimes badly, like it runs good, but then randomly it starts to change its rpm by itself, and even runing in 3rd gear, u press the gas it goes goes and then like shakes and lowers the rpm and then hits the rpm back to where it changed. Sometimes the car loses power out of nowhere and doesn't run like it should, and when pressing full pedal to the metal in 2nd, it doesnt accelerate fast as it should, but when that dissappears, it runs great and has full power again. I really dont know what to do, ive changed the spark plugs, the filters, checked vacuum leaks, changed the fuel filter, checked the air boot for some leaks, nothing, no error codes, only sometimes when it loses power it shows something w abs and traction control

My m54b30 runs awesome, idles fine cold or hot, but when left idling for a couple of minutes it missfires... As if One cilinder is off and running in 5 only. Turn it off and black on, and its ok again... But only does this when left idling for more than a couple of minutes... If you are driving or reving just so slightly, it never fails... Any clue?

Hey man, my e46 started shaking about 5 days ago just all of a sudden there in the morning. I took it to my mechanic he checked all the coil packs which were fine but my spark plugs were really wore and I only replaced that 3 months ago before this all happened. Then we put in fuel cleaner for the injectors as he thought maybe it was that and after that as I drove my engine light even went off and it was running all good but not even the next day it the light came back on and the shaking started again. It's still shaking pretty good and it's on and off so before I take it to bmw would you know maybe what that could be? Thank you so much if you could reply

What did it end up being? Check your valve cover gasket as one source of the problem. Very likely, its an vacuum problem somewhere. The design of these engines is like all dam vacuums sucking air all over the dam place. Its the most cumbersome engine system, but at the same time its well-built.
