Really enjoy the easy goingness of the instructions, and learned basic stuff useful techniques that apply to hat making. I'm just starting a newsboy hat, the hat the suits my head best. Ya, I often like the backside of fabric better then top side too. Thanks very much for making these videos.

@@SHMillinery yes. Hoping it will be presentable! As for lining, wondering cut from an old cashmere sweater would work? Have you tried?

Nice hat, great idea on using upholstery fabric. I have some left over pieces to try this out. I think I’ll be serging the edges of the pieces before sewing to help a lot with the fraying.

🤯How have I never thought of using upholstery fabric for hat making??!

Hi, How on earth have I missed this one? Cloches are the reason that I took an interest in hats in the first place, though I have extended my penchant for hats to other shapes now of course. I will presently see how I can download this pattern to my computer(s), so that I can keep it around for some time.
I do have a question though. I have smaller head than this pattern (21"~ 54 cm). Can you make toiles for hats in müslin or would that be too different from making it in a thicker fabric?
Using upholstery fabric is a fantastic idea, and I think my sewing machine can handle it. I have an old green Husqvarna for about 1961, and you can use that as an anvil if you need one.
Thank you for this video. As you might be able to tell I'm quite excited about it. Yours, Ann

Hi Ann, glad you like! If you need the pattern just email me 👌 when you print the pattern pieces out, if you print them at 97 % not 100% it drops the hat by about an inch headsize. Trying a toile in in muslin or cotton fabric is a great idea. Older sewing machines seem to cope with thicker fabric. Cheers sara
