      How was it a mistake by the ref? At the time there was no specific rule to disallow it and the ref is seen as an equal part of the field of play. He couldn’t disallow it in absence of an allowing rule and as part of the field of play he’s not seen as an outside agent therefore there is no potential argument to disallow it that way

    In Brazil we had a club's massagist clearing a goal at the 89th minute of a round of 16 match for our 4th division. We also had a game that ended 0.5 x 0, because the shot was so potent the ball opened. The goalkeeper defended a shot and held the ball, but the shot was so strong that the inner tube of air escaped from the leather lining (it was the 50's). The goalkeeper ended up holding only the lining, while the inner tube entered the goal. The referee then decided it was half a goal, so the game ended half to zero.

    • @LucasMarcos97Vinicius
      @LucasMarcos97Vinicius Před 14 dny

      The origins of football date back centuries, with various forms of ball games played across many cultures. The rules of modern football, also known as "association football," were first established in England. The Football Association defined these rules in 1863, aiming to unify the various ball games played under different rules into one standardized format.
      The term "football" originates from the combination of the English words "foot" and "ball," essentially meaning a game played with a ball using feet. Most non-English names for the sport are derived from this term (except for Italian "calcio").
      By the late 19th century, as the British spread the game internationally, football gained global popularity. In the United States and Canada, the game is known as "soccer." This term comes from a shortening of "association football," with "assoc" evolving into "soc," to which "-er" was added. This naming was used to distinguish it from American football, which was already popular in North America.

    • @LucasMarcos97Vinicius
      @LucasMarcos97Vinicius Před 14 dny +1

      I don't want to belittle any nation or individual, but the ignorance of Americans, those living in North America, is killing me. You have no knowledge even about your own basic geography. Forget about explaining where Europe or Asia is, you mistake your own states and the capitals of your states for countries. American street interviews show how an entire nation can be misled, haha, I really feel sorry for you. Also, I see in the comments that some say it doesn't matter, use whatever is convenient. The problem here is one of terminology. How this term is used and explained is of serious importance for humanity. If you call the real football "soccer" just to say AMERICAN FOOTBALL, you'll get your answer, got it? First go learn the difference between a state and a country. You've ruined both the use of English and its application. Does it matter if you call an apple a pear?

      American football is adapted from rugby. The term “football” was used as a name/descriptor for any sport that involves playing with the foot in the middle ages. So when American created this new game, adapted from several other games (all with some derivative of the name football) Americans coined the term “Assaociation Football” which is actually a lot closer related to soccer than rugby. In the 1870s, some colleges got together to form their own version that was more based around rugby. Older American football involved a lot more kicking as well as martial action. But since then, rules and guidelines has dwindled the harsher nature of the game, as well as putting a further emphasis on throwing and catching. Ig there was no need to change the name, it was already there.
