Shoutout to Eurosport for the 9 minute highlights.
With a grand total of ONE POINT won by Murray in those 9 minutes.
@@potzysk2I genuinely never saw one. At what time ?
@@potzysk2 I mean stan had most of the highlights like he mostly always does since he has a spectacular game, especialy compared to murray
@@davidegral71524:33
@@potzysk2 what can you expect when Murray barely had any significant highlights
stanimal backhand is immortal....
and immoral
@@BOZ_11?????
@@louisc7525 bad as in good. you know what i mean!
Cheers in that name 🍻
@@BOZ_11 yes, for opponents.
When Stan's backhand is on fire it's just a joy to watch.
...i think, it was (on fire) right after Roger's...
Is really a joy to watch!
Best net exchange I have seen in the 1st rounder ever
Yes!
Memorable and classy
It looked like a farewell exchange to me... Very much emotional..
Because they know that this is the last time they will face each other in a grand slam. So emotional
I swear to God, his backhand will never cease to be HYPNOTIC
Я,думаю самый красивый удар слева, не побоюсь сказать,круче даде6 Федерера
The person who edited the match must be a huge Wawrinka fan 😂
Cant't blame them though
Yes you think Murray never hit a winner during the match
@@joshjones5062 Thats why its 9 minutes. If you want to watch the full match then watch the full match. Stan was raining pure magic.
@@djpete2009 I watched the full match yes not disputing Stan was much better player on the day. Murray was clealry hampered in 3rd though. He was not raining pure magic i felt the match was slow pace the heavy conditions allowed stan alot of time on the ball i doubt he go very far.
Fantastic Play of Stan. Powerful tennis at its best!
Nice to see Stanimal turning the clock back a little bit
not really. Just a poor opponent. He will be out in the next round 🤷
He turns the clock back only couple of minutes
@@streetspirit956 You are so sure he can't beat Norrie?
@@potzysk2 - ...he can!!!
What a sportsmanship at the end. Nice to see.
Net exchange choked me up. Andy has done Scotland proud.
Andy and Stan's hug even made Tennis proud
Once we were warriors.
And what a moving respect at the net after the battle. They know the sun is setting for them and others are rising. Yet they gave us in these last 15 years the best tennis for techniques and personalities
Best comment on a shank ever: "He paid for the whole racquet; might as well use it." 🤣
Incredible level of play from Stan! I love to watch his noble style and his flushing single handed backhand is most probably the most wonderful shot in the entire tennis circus. Never ever could a bihander be so elegant and beautiful as shown by Stan, simple perfection.
Maybe so as a great fan of Murray felt for both this match was slow paced at times heavy conditions seemed to allow so much time on the ball.
Stan was telling Andy it's his last RG and it was a pleasure to have shared all these years in the tour with him, alongside something else I couldn't catch.
Stan is the most underrated legendary player of our generation. Even though he won 3 GS in his career, the "Big 3" took the spotlight during his whole career, yet he manage to win big big tournaments against them.
He has [in my opinion] by far, the most elegant and deadly shot I have ever seen in this spot. His backhand is otherworldly and it's an incredible feeling to watch him still doing it like this [he's almost 40...] over and over again. I will miss him and probably remember him forever. I'm sure I will have those times of nostalgia and search for videos of his best shots in the future.
Lastly, even though I understand it's a ranking thing, I find it ridiculous that 1st round has such a match-up with 2 legendary players who won Grand Slams. It's total disrespect in my opinion, and I don't agree with "all players should be treated equally" because not all players are equal. These 2 are legendary players who won GS's. They deserve a "special treatment" at least on the 1st round draw. Maybe one day we will see Novak and Rafa lose a lot in ranking and match up on 1st round of RG? How ridiculous would that be?
Anyways, I feel I somehow owe a thank you for Stan even though he doesn't even know me and just doing what he loves. Great guy and incredible tennis player. That backhand will be remembered for decades 🤲
Anyone who thinks top players don't get special treatment hasn't seen any of Novak's draws for the last 3 years 😅
Unfortunately these players would both need to be seeded to avoid each other. Legends or not, it would be a farse to grant them special treatment. Besides, these kinds of match ups are great for TV ratings for the 1st round rather than seeing Murray lose to a 19 year old French wild card. Novak vs Rafa would have been amazing in the first round as Rafa wasn't going to win a match here this year based on his form and injuries.
it's always such a joy for the eye to watch Stan's incredible backhand! ♥
Tim Henman is my favourite commentator. He's is so knowledgeable, articulate and loves the game. And he's been there: anyone who watched him get to the French and US semis in 2004(?) will know this guy could play.
He does overuse the word 'opportunity', though. Listen out for that word next time you hear him commentate.
People seem to forget that Wawrinka won 3 grand slam titles... They tend to mention only Murray as the guy who managed to keep up with the big 3, I am still shocked about this honestly.
That’s because Wawrinka won just one masters event compared to Murray’s 14, Murray also reached numerous slam finals compared to Wawrinka’s four. Murray was world number one, and won the Tour Finals and two Olympic gold singles - crucially, Murray won against them for years and years, especially in the smaller events, Wawrinka was a late bloomer who won three slams and a masters in three years
I think Murray would have at least 8 slams in another era and I reckon Stan would have another one or two which would make him considered as one of the greats. Both suffered from this era. I’m glad Andy won the golds as it helps make up for it
I agree. Eurosport would show Murray play 500th in the world and not show the final.....always the same.
@@kevinhickey3515 Except that Eurosport showed ONE POINT won by Murray in this whole 9 minute video. Kind of ruins the theory that they love Murray.
@@potzysk2Well said
Mad respect for both these gentlemen and also for Magnus Norman for staying with Stan to the end of his career even though his grandslam-winning days are gone.
Man what a joy to see Stan play like that, the most wonderful backhand on court still. Unbelievable how beautiful he strikes it. I hope he wins a few more rounds.
...his backhand was for me always on the same level like roger's...
Absolutely brilliant!
Massive respect from two legends of the GAME
Wow!
It would be nice if Stan can keep up this form for the rest of the tour.
I could live with him winning RG 2024 and nothing the rest of the year. 😅
Would love to see Stan go far in the tournament - when his backhand is motoring, it's a thing of beauty.
i wish they kiss at the net, the vibe was there. Glad to see Stan’s bakery is still working overtime
That's not a bakery, it's a cement mixer 😂
There wee no bagels or bread sticks, you clearly do not understand the use of the terminology
What can we say more? Two Legends Players on the field. But The Stan's backhand is a joy for the eyes to look , to admire and to show in the Louvre Musem. Wow
Happy to get another look on the greatest 1HB of all time.
I have realised that level of stan’s backhand just can’t be taught or learned,he was born with this gift basically, you can take tsistsipas for example and make him hit thousands of backhands every day for years and it still wouldn’t be 50% as good as stan’s
@@yeeeaaahmayneee3808 - Roger's was also the same level!!!
Vintage wawrinka. Shot quality is insane.
It felt like Stan was a heavy favourite for this match, simply because he can still hit those big shots on the clay. The respect for each other at the net was beautiful to see, they stand alone as a pair, below the big 3, and above everyone else, in the last 20 years.
Of all the tennis I could watch, Stan's backhand will always be, hands down, my favourite shot!
Such respect to each other as a competitor and a friend. A beautiful one.
Campioni di tennis...di sportività di rispetto
Merci Eurosport Tennis, pour ce résumé "Collector" de 9 minutes! Un florilège de revers à une main, je me suis vraiment gavé. Merci encore.
Nice to see they are respectful towards each others after the match, true gentlemen of the sport.
Omg that shot at 6:14 😮😮😮 stanimal magic
Wooow. He is playing brutally strong...he can beat anybody with such a performance
Only of his vrooom vrooom working as well. 7 matches, best of 5. If he reaches the 1/8 of the tournament would be a great achievement. Fognini also trashed BVD but seriously :))))) next round is out
@@paullungu6035 yeah yeah yeah, pretty unlikely that He can maintain this Kind of Game throughout the tournament
What class, what two great careers, what enormous players that marked an era, two of the only ones capable of facing the big 3 having options, my eternal respect to these two gentlemen of tennis.
Wawrinka's backhand was on point today, couldn't miss it when going down the line and always with such consistent power and depth.
Dos abuelitos y cada uno con lo suyo , y el que fue bueno lo demostró, bravo wawrinka.
Stan's BH as always a thing of beauty!
I think they went to the pub afterwards))
Stan said merci during every break between balls. What a gentleman!
Imagine if Stan reaches the finals, and plays Novak- like 2015!
Stan's backhand is a masterpiece! RESPECT
such a style of Tennis from both!
Stanimal's backhand is like a liquid whip! Touched by the Gods themselves.
Two legends in their own right. Terrible that they had to face off against each other, but ultimately fitting as their last legendary battle at RG back in 2017 - they left everything out there and weren’t the same players since. Hope both have their swan songs in 2024 and play/end on their own terms.
although to be honest, for Murray, getting his RG send off against Stan on Chatrier with a packed crowd is probably better than losing against a rando on an outside court
@@subarashifoundation Bad unlucky draw for Murray.
I'd fancy his chances more against certain others than Stan, even at 39.
Proud as a Swiss to see how beautiful his backhand is, so massively better said haha, he still enjoys playing tennis, hitting dropshots etc. Thank you Stan the Man! 🙌🏻🇨🇭 I don't begrudge him it and I'm happy for him, keep it up!
Nice to see that warm exchange at the net at the end! These two were truly great at their peak and would have won a few more slams between them had they stayed healthy.
They give everything always
This is the best camera angle... Please do all matches like this one
Two great champions
nostalgia.. tremendous nostalgia...
Stan’s backhand still working brilliantly!😮
Que clase, que dos grandes carreras, que jugadores tan enormes que marcaron una época, dos de los unicos capaces de enfrentar al big 3 teniendo opciones, mi eterno respeto a estos dos señores del tenis
This was like back in the days. These two are the best players after the big 3 in decades - hard to tell which one had more amazing career. And the respect between them is priceless. Would like to know what was the conversation about at the end. 🥰
It's not even close that Murray had the more amazing career.
Outstanding play - I wish more young players would consider switching to (or starting with) the 'one-handed' backhand. Wawrinka and the wonderful Justine Henin are just masters of that play.
Great game, Stan 👍
super tennis from Wawrinka! what a backhand!
Great win for Andy I hope he can go far into this tournament.
Whaaa ! Quel niveau de la part de notre Stan national. J'ai toujours l'impression qu'il peut battre n'importe qui quand il arrive à ce degré d'excellence.
Rolling Back the Years.. If You didn't Know Tennis You Could Think Stan Was Defending Champion or - One Of the Favourites to Win.. Bravo..
Legends from Golden Era
Respect to both of you
Stan, after Rafa's leaving, all my sympathies in this tournament are with you!
What a performance 😮💨
When there is at least one player on the court with a one-handed backhand, everything is better.
Eurosport again putting every slam channel in their pocket with the best highlights in the business. 👏
Stan the man still has that magic touch
Wawrinka is 39 and Murray 37. Murray got heavy injuries ignoring that he is a heavy sturdy player, not really graceful. He is totally out of thew game at 37, he was already out before he ever thought to be out of it. But Wawrinka at 39, it's totally different, a natural force that it's great and graceful to watch in action, and his single handed backhand... a legend.
as long as his stamina lasts he can still beat anyone. problem is that his stamina tends to run out pretty quickly nowadays :(
@@MrPiotrV Of course, he is practically 40. And that's what it means to become 40, we loose explosive reaction, we increase experience. Still Wawrinka is in much better shape than Murray, and still far more interesting to watch than Murray...
Ваврінка як людина дуже хороший
The best tennis tournament and no TV coverage
Стэн красив, как никогда, по всем параметрам!
incredible Stan
Great to see two past grand slam winners battling it out earlier in the draw. It’s been a very occurrence for 20+ years.
Stan has the best 1 handed back hand. Murray played well, but expected Stan to win. He is still playing well.
"just in case you missed it 30 sec ago, there it is again", rofl
Как я соскучился по бэкхенду вавринки, сегодня он бил почти как в лучшие годы. Особенно хорошо он отбила высокие мячи- это серьезный показатель. Неужели вавр даст жару в этом году?
did murray really play that bad to not have a single highlight? 😭 (didn't watch the game so have no idea)
oh just seen the first one at 4:30
Wawrinka was just that much better today
He's playing with a metal hip 😢
I think the highlights reflected the fact Wawrinka was the aggressor and was dictating the play.
I wish Murray would be more aggressive in his play - he's not young enough to be playing this physically exhausting, relentless retrieving, defensive play anymore.
Stan made him look like an amateur. Friend went to watch the match and said Andy couldn't do anything.
I have a feeling Andy said to Stan at the end, "Well played mate, after Wimbledon that's it for me Im hanging up the racket"
Don't wear fluorescent shoes and clothes, Stan. If you do, your opponent can see you in his peripheral vision. How you gonna sneak up to net unnoticed.........?
I actually thought the same thing
AM is at the end of his career everyone knows that, but the opponents that are on the other side of the net also know this guy has a metal hip, but I still have to play well to beat him. Hats off to both players.
Bummed that Andy drew Stan. I expected this result
Idk very good for the spectactors and both the players look like they enjoy playing each other. 2 ex-GS players is not every day!
The time of these today’s veterans - Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Marat Safin, etc., - was for me the best time of tennis in the history. I know, it’s pure subjective, but battles they have fought are unforgettable. You can play tennis by counting fifteens, but you can play tennis when all physical, mental powers and skills are challenged behind each one ball played. And this is what this generation have shown many times.
No other one hand backhand than Stanimal
Топовая встреча и сразу в первом же круге...трёхкратные шлемолисты сражались как в старые добрые времена!
Stan was in boss mode
The only players who contested the tirany of the big three. Respect.
I don't know if there is a statistic for backhand winners but I think Stan is the Zeuss of that figure. Almost from every angle he can find a spot to land that backhand blast on.
I always thought of Wawrinka and Murray as the Silver Duo in comparison to the Big Three. They were the two opponents who could have the power to beat one of the Big Three, granted if they were in a good form.
Del Potro was also 1 of them if not injured
Crazy roster did we have back in the days.
1: Big 3
4: Murray
5: Wawrinka
6: Del Potro
While having also players like Ferrer, Berdych, Tsonga
Nalbandian…
@BonJ-zl2kp add Nishikori to that list
If you include Nalbandian you also have to include Roddick and Hewitt but I didn’t on purpose because those players had their peak the decade before.
You can definitely add Nishikori to that last group
Il est beau ce revers surpuissant 👍
an "old" final at the 1st.. Wow
What a lucky ticket!!
che partita di the man
The Stanimal is back!!!
most beautiful backand.
wow!!!
How was the stadium not packed out for these two legends 🤦♂️
Stan The Man is back...
You'd think this was three 6-0 sets from these highlights 😅
Why was the stadium so empty?..
Stan the man. What a backhand but all round strong play
With game like this there are not many players who can beat Stanislas.
I hope he wins it all. What a story that would be.
