    Imagine being a 15 year old kid who's never been to a concert before and you're older neighbor at about 5 in the evening asks if you'd like to go with a bunch of other guys to a general admission concert to see a band called Rush and you've never heard of them before. Of course I begged my mother to go, I was allowed to go and the rest is history they became my favorite band instantly. It was the Permanent Waves tour with Spirit of Radio just blowing me away. How could three people put out that much quality sound it was just amazing to me. Stage presence for each was amazing.

      @philstone3859 Před 3 lety +3

      Yeah, I remember when it came out and our local rock station played Spirit. It was highly anticipated in my town, San Antonio TEXAS one of RUSH’s favorite cities. Not a brag the band said as much. We were one of the first people to hear them when they first came out because of a good DJ we had. They came here on 99% of their tours and sometimes stayed a little longer to hangout here. Neil would ride his bike through the hill country and they would get a local go kart type track to open for them after hours so they could zip around. Early, early on the first tour they played a redneck bar here called Randy’s Rodeo! Ha ha! The story is legendary now. Geddy mentioned it last time I saw them. Anyway the radio station premiered it before school one day and my and all my friends at school were, did you hear it yet? Did you hear the new RUSH. We said we are going to that concert for sure! 18 times live for me! ROCK PRIVILEGE!! Peace, Phil

      Mark Moil Amen to that. It's the same reason I hardly ever have a device attached to my person when I am with my grandchild. He will never say that I am looking at a device and not interacting with him. Any other way is a diminished quality of life in real time, in my opinion. The devices can wait for late at night before sleep or when my grandchild is napping.
      It cracks me up when I see two young gals "taking a walk together" but they both carry phones in their hands and their heads are bowed to it. Bowed is an operative word. I WILL NOT BOW TO MY DEVICE. I interact with real people in real time.

      I remember being kind of ticked off when the SARS show took place, because Rush was (as I recall) 3rd to last, IN THEIR HOMETOWN! The closers were AC/DC and The Rolling Stones. I can see the Stones being the headliner, but I could never get my head around AC/DC being ahead of Rush in that lineup. My memory is that Justin Timberlake got booed off the stage there by the way. It was a shame for him, really, but that crowd was not looking for his kind of music.

      Actually you're completely WRONG. GEDDY LEEE started using the Venues house systems for his Bass and no longer needed amps. Has NOTHING to do with digitized music, smh. He feeds into a pre-amp and that feeds to the venues PA system. So to fill the empty space where his amps would have been they started with washing machines and went from there. R40 they had rotisseries and real chickens being cooked by a real chief onstage. Fed the crew after the show. It was a way to mock Alex and other guitarists for their huge stack of Amps. Q: During the Vapor Trails tour, and later on the 30th Anniversary Tour, Geddy had a number of dryers on stage. Three for the VT tour, and two dryers plus a vending machine for the R30 tour. So what gives?
      A: Geddy uses direct boxes instead of Bass amplifiers now... so instead of having an empty space behind him he added the dryers to keep it all linear. This started with the Vapor Trails tour. The snack vending machine is new for R30 and he changes the items for each show. I think that is for his own amusement and a testament to the band's sense of humor. The dryers also contain t-shirts, (which you can see tumbling in the dryers), which are thrown out into the audience towards the end of the show. They are special "souvenir t-shirts" which have RUSH logos on the front, and usually say something like, (and I'm paraphrasing, so forgive me ; "I got this t-shirt from dryer #1 on the Vapor Trails tour"). BTW, the dryers are operated with Canadian quarters only, and periodically throughout the show, you may have noticed technicians, roadies, celebrities, or fabulous babes coming out to add more quarters to keep the dryers running.

    I guess what I love the most about watching these NEW ERA PEOPLE reacting to this yesteryear Rock & Roll music mainly is that, (whether we want to admit or realize it, ) the new generation has seriously never thought in a million years that this kinda music really existed!!
    Now listen 👂, I'm not stereotyping an race and the music that we as in all of us, Black, White, Hispanic and the whole lot of us, we simply all grew up in our own era, and whatever generation that we happened to be born in, well is the kinda music either our parents, grandparents, and then ourselves is what we were use to hearing. Am I right?? For me, myself, I grew up in a house that primarily listened to old country music, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and my all time favorite George Jones. When I was 9-10 years old I listened to the Jackson 5, Donny Osmond, then slid into Motown, I hit my early teens and this music came along. ACDC, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, in my 30's I was hooked on the new country music, Patty Lovelace, Joe Diffie, Dwight Yokcum!!! Many of the young black reacters were into either Hip-Hop, or and a lot of other music from their parents generation, Jazz, Motown, R&B, are some of the ones for example. Sooooo now, because they've stepped into doing music reactions they among many, many others are just now finding this crazy, insane blast from the past Rock Music, I'm seeing the effects of what we all are experiencing right now, right this minute, of seeing the extreme and immense pleasure that this music is bringing into their lives! I LOVE IT ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️
    ROCK & ROLL WILL NEVER DIE!!! 🎶🎶🎶☮️☮️☮️🌟🌟🌟🔥🔥🔥✨✨✨😍😍😍😱😱😱

    The clothing dryers -- when they got together before this tour to practice and set up the stage for the tour, Alex (the guitarist) had added gear and had a wall of back line equipment behind him. On Geddy's (bass and keyboard player) side of the stage, his back line was small. He added the dryers to take up some space and fill out his side of the stage. LOL The tour after this, they removed the dryers and added rotisseries making chicken while they were playing. LOL Rush always had a good sense of humor. One of their first tours in the US was with Kiss. There are many funny stories about that tour. The Rush guys definitely know how to have fun!
