This album is the only way I've ever found the vocal version of "The Horse." There is another vocal version of "The Horse" called "Love Is Allright" but that's not rare
Holy moly! I didn't know a vocal version of this fun tune from 1968 even existed. I always find a lot of neat surprises on CZcams, and this adds to them. This is class.
In the NYC projects in the 1960's THIS was the song that all would be DRUMMERS learned to play the drums to for our little project bands....and believe me not everyone could hit it right....one of the all time classics if u r of a certain age..😉
It was “Love Is All Right”, the B-side to their only instrumental hit “The Horse”. “The Horse” was also done by the James Boys with Cliff Nobles singing lead on this rare version.
Oh yeah Cliff Nobles knocked this one out the park with both the vocal and the instrumental versions. In Baltimore we used to to jam to this at block parties in the 60's Damn good oldie here. Hey Hey Everybody, I say the Horse. Rock on baby.
I remember the fish on the record that my cousin owned when I was about 6. Love is alright is always what we played. Funny, the week that I was born, was when the song peaked (July 7-13 1968)! Always loved "Love is Alright", but now I have all 3 versions!
"Love Is Alright" is the flip of "The Horse." Actually, it's the a-side but "The Horse" became the hit. This version of "The Horse" was releaed as by The James Boys, which I was unaware of when I found this album.
6/29/2011 This version is much better than the original track. I have this record in my collection, it is on Phil L.A. of Soul, # 316. The artist indicated on the lable is The James Boys; supposedly to be both Cliff Nobles and The Fantastic Johnny C, sharing the vocals. Purchase for your collection and Enjoy !!!

This was actually the 1st version I was exposed to. Thanks for making it available. It's been decades since I've heard it.

I learned of its' existence from a Dick Bartley radio show a couple decades ago, but never thought I'd ever hear it, so thank you so much for posting!

You're welcome

Rare? It's on the A-side and is called "Love Is Alright". The Horse is simply an instrumental version on the B-side. You can buy a copy for $4-5.
Except it’s a different song
Micah’s daddy it’s now alright
But it's still alright.
Turn that Felix Hernandez joint up.....!
Huge tune! As good as the instrumental one, and it works OK to the dancefloor :)
Micah’s daddy say the horse
