  • Today we head to the garage to install an aftermarket crankshaft seal! With the factory unit leaking on Tim's machine we found aftermarket company that allows you to replace the crankshaft seal without pulling the motor.

    Thanks for making the video, it helped me alot getting my seal out on my rzr 900!
    You said you fired it up, were you able to do that without the clutch in place? I was unsure if that was safe for the engine, if the clutch acted like a flywheel or whatever, but i definately want to run it to confirm 100% the new seal isnt leaking before i put it all back together.

    I’m curious if you had any leaks after siliconing that protective cover. I did a snorkel kit on my 23 General and siliconed the back of the clutch housing where that foam seal goes and was told silicone seeping into the crank seal caused the leak.

    Question good video, I think I'm going to have to do it my 2020 XP turbo. Do you think you could screw into the seal and use a slide hammer to pull it? Is the back of the stock seal metal? Is the lip on the back metal? If not it should collapse with some force pulling it out. That way there is no beating around the crank of seal surface.

    • @utvoutlaws6652
      @utvoutlaws6652  Před rokem

      I believe the back around the crank is metal. You should be able to use a screw and slide hammer. I did not have one at the time of doing it. Just be very careful takes a little time but you can get it.

    I have a 2016 rzr 900, and it's possible to do it like this. It's a bad job on a 900. It took me at least three hours to get mine out.

  • @hectormelendez968
    @hectormelendez968 Před 7 měsíci

    I did that seal replacement to my 2013 900rzr.
    After paying $162 por that expensive seal plus $200 of labor it only lasts a couple of months before it started leaking again. But now when worst! The spinning belt ate the primary clutch plates and belt broke in pieces. All in the middle of a highway at 1am! 🥺
    Now, I have to buy a new primary clutch, a new belt and still waiting a free space of time of my mechanic to do what it supposed to do from beginning...install the correct internal seal ($10 +$500 labor fee)
    This happened in September 2023.

    Good Video but there is a lot better way to do it. Take two wood screws and screw them in. One on both sides of the seal. You should be able to take a pair of pliers and pull the seal out. If not put a piece of wood on the crank for prying. Wrap two wires around the screw and then around the wood and pry out the seal.

      Not gonna happen. The lip of the back of the seal is in a groove in the block. That's why you're supposed to split the block. It don't just pop out like your basic tap in seal

    I just rebuilt my motor & put New comitec seals with a bigger lip but when i was assembling i put Too Much Rtv sealer behind the inner clutch cover & it squished into they crank seal causing it to leak! I wasnt gonna split the case if i didnt have too! In been a Total Bitch & i was an master Tech by Trade its been the Hardest seal ive ever had to replace ! But im sure the stock seal wouldn't have been half as Hard!
