- Sponge On The Run is here, but it doesn't meet the standards of what makes a good Spongebob movie. With Kamp Koral, a rehashed story, weak writing, and MORE, is there any reason to give this a chance? Let's dive in.

Keep in mind SpongeBob in general has either a *VERY* loose continuity or doesn't have continuity at all
After all, this is the same series that has one episode featuring Squidward outright saying he's never BEEN inside SpongeBob's house when he has many times before; as well as moments like Larry the Lobster not knowing who SpongeBob is
The OG one from 2004 is still the best one out of all the SpongeBob movies

SpongeBob met:
Patrick at kindergarten
Gary at the pound
Squidward as his neighbor
Mrs. Puff on the first day of school
Mr. Krabs on his first day on the job
Sandy during her stay in the sea
Sponge on the Run: *Everyone's somehow the same age*
Mrs. Puff was actually the camp counselor.
Also, continuity was completely thrown out of the window, almost like how the writers didn’t watch the show before making this new movie
Mrs. Puff and Mr. Krabs weren’t kids back at Camp Coral, but yeah everything in this movie just felt out of place.
Yes but actually no.
Mrs. Puff is a camp monitor and Mr Kraps is the camp cook.
Squidward is definetley older than Sponge Bob and Patrick so you're somewhat correct.
Also, apparently now Sponge Bob have Mr Krabs the idea to open the Krusty Krab even tho in past epsiodes it is shown the Krust Krab existed before *spongebob was born*

My take on SpongeBob canon: it never existed. Even on the first 3 seasons there are contradictions. I just don't care for it. So I didn't mind the flashbacks. why does kid spongebob have a voice that doesn't fit him but kid sandy keeps the same voice?
This movie had such weird pacing, plus, the part near at the end where the characters talk about their time in summer camp really broked the flow of the story and was also a promotion for their new upcoming show Kamp Koral.
The first Spongebob movie was, of course, the best, but I'll defend the second movie as one I thoroughly enjoyed. As long as you don't compare it to the first, I think it's perfectly fun. It had some originality, the dolphin character was actually from an episode, and unlike the first, IMO, the supporting cast got more of a chance to shine. I also used to work on the street in Savannah where they filmed some live-action scenes, so that added to my enjoyment. This one, though... I pretty much agree with Vailskibum94 (and other reviewers) that this seemed ...forced... out of character in some ways, horribly written in others, and more of a vehicle for Camp Coral than a movie that stands on its own.

"He doesn't deserve to die." - Squidward Tentacles
the only good part of his speech tbh...
The CGI was indeed very well done. The Kamp Koral scenes were kinda annoying and it was so much that it felt like they were really using the movie to advertise this upcoming spin-off series. The western scenes felt so out of place and didn't add ANYTHING to the story. I wish they hadn't included that. Also, I sort of liked how during SB's court case, his friends were telling the crowd how good SB was and stuff, but I think the focus of this emotional scene should've been more on Gary and SB's relationship.
This movie is the only one that didn’t involve Stephen at it’s fullest. He died halfway through the production of the movie and that’s where most things changed.
If this film is set in an alternate universe, then I can’t wait for the fourth movie Into the Spongey-Verse.
I think that the Camp Coral thing was only so that Spongebob meets Gary but then nickelodeon saw the potential in that idea and made another team work in the kamp coral series and told to the team working on the movie "promote it". They obviously had no option but to say yes. Still, they delivered and made a movie that I personally really liked lol
