  • The two rockers (in blue) are connected to each other and the vehicle chassis through a bevel gear differential. Relative to the chassis, when one rocker goes up, the other goes down. The chassis maintains the average pitch angle of both rockers.
One end of a rocker is fitted with a drive wheel, and the other end is pivoted to the bogie (in green).
All six wheels are driven by individual motors.
The vehicle can climb over obstacles (such as rocks) that are up to twice the wheel's diameter in size while keeping all six wheels on the ground.
Steering: let the wheels of one side to rotate in the opposite direction to the other side (see the last scene of the video).
This video was made based on NASA's Mars rover.

This design works really well in Besiege cause it's all-terrain without suspension.

Thank you very much your simulation shows the differential video and I had not found it in any video.

What kind of mechanism is that, that allows the vehicle to be so stable and why are there three wheels

The plate on which on the differential is mounted, is it only for counter rotating of rockers?
If i want to use the plate for some application like mounting some mechanisms. Will the plate take the additional load as its only on a hinge.
Is there any add on thing i can do for that?

Yes, The plate can bear additional loads.
The plate does not rotate freely about its hinge axis because the gears and suspension prevent it.

Very cool! Thanks! So there's some king of gear that keeps the body in level? ❤ Best regards

If each tires is individually powered, why do the mechanism have a differential gear atop the vehicle?

    • @thang010146
      @thang010146  Před 3 lety

Here the differential gears have another function: maintain a definite position for the yellow chassis. See the complete explanation in the description of video

Thank you for the video, very useful, i have a doubt, how do i calculate the size of each bevel gear in relation with the size of the bogie mechanism? Regards from México.

All six wheels are driven by individual motors.
If the 3 motors on the right side rotate slower than the 3 motors on the left, the vehicle with turn right.
