“We cannot delay this train” on the ONR....😂😂😂. Not easy work though. Good job boys. CN S&C maintainer.
The speaker sounds as if he was doing a trailer for an action-movie. The guy repairing the tracks sounds as if he swollowed a balloon full of helium and the guy inspecting the tracks sounds as if he is constantly chewing on a hot potato.... :D
I was surprised to see it bolted. I guess they can't weld them with the drastic weather and temperature change.
They do. Just the line they’re on can’t justify the cost due to traffic levels
CWR is usually on main line.
They can and do weld in hot/cold extremes, just need to de-stress the rail ( helps avoid breaks and sun kinks - solar irregularities.
I’m a rail fan in Buffalo just over the boarder to Ontario and are tracks are all welded. All. Maybe a bolt on section here or there
Not sure about feight, but most newer rail is ribbon rail. They make it miles long and bring it in on a flat bed cars. It gets welded together with thermite welding. You need a lot more anchors. Poor Paddy never saw the stuff. It has only been around for 30+ years. Poor Paddy was already in heaven working on the f'ing railway!
@@willysnowmanand with ribbon rail small segment patches are done with a short stick of rail put where a short damaged section then its welded or bolted in place
Why does this have so much dramatic music on it?
I'm surprised that's not the only thing that happens to those tools in extreme cold , his whole tear bed should be covered and kept heated as well in winter , have you ever seen a hydraulic hose explode in winter .
I wonder if a van with the same rail setup might be more useful, so you can keep your hydraulics warmer. Or if electric power tools might end up taking the place of hydraulics in this application.
I feel like hydraulics are overall better because they can be run almost anytime and are way stronger
Honestly, that would be a good idea. Especially if it was just a GMC express van, nothing fancy
Batteries do not like cold.
@@alexprice4465 Yeah, the batteries would degrade in the cold / hot temperature change… until we invent more resilient and stronger batteries… I bet things are going to stay the way they are.
Enjoyed it, pps upload more of these episodes
Great job guys .!!
The rails get bigger right he’s asking us guys
That is a tough and heavy job, especially in those conditions.
Lol this is Ontario Canada lol lot arctic here lol it’s cold but no arctic lol
Man I do not miss that at all !
Was it not any good?
Lol, To be truthful I loved working on the welding gangs (CNR. 1990 - 20016)
The hours were insane 12 - 16 hrs a day on a 15 on, 6 days off (was really hard on my wife and daughters).
Lastly, it was dangerous! My username Oneleg999 isn’t a coincidence - work train was “mistakenly” released through our form Y making a reverse movement and ran my ass over! Lol I survived but sadly old lefty didn’t make it!
Biggest pisser was it happened on the last day of the cycle !🤬
@@xnaylo335 LOL I did but not for long!
Hunter the Hitman Harrison - What a POS!!!
Wonder if he fucked CP as bad as he did us.
Secret steel rails?
I once had a 5 1/2" pull apart on my railroad.
this is the kinda job i want
I germany we are velding the tracks with thermit
Brother does that at CN
What he should have is a closed Truck to put his equipment.
I can't find any information about this show, like anywhere. It has no IMDB, no Wiki page, nothing on DMAX's site, and I can't even find torrents that might have credits I can watch. Who has information about this show???
they should be given roofing torches to just melt the snow around it...
in poland Rails welded
Yeah this isn’t actually what railroading is. This is tv production😂😂😂
Your actually way wrong, rails pulling apart like that and having to make such repairs is quite real my friend
ok
Can't believe this guy is driving all nonchalantly without two hands on the wheel at ten and two.
Jk 😂. On the real though, I wouldn't trust it with no hands.
On a Hi-Rail vehicle the steering wheel is locked straight. The flanged wheels guide its movement.
Wow 😆
Yeah wow. I enjoy this documentary. Do you enjoy watching the documentary. I do.
Wooden slippers so bad in USA so bad
I was watching this on 1.25 speed and didn’t even realize it
i fucking cant with this voice over guy
Owooo! 🐺
First of all who bolts tracks together, aren't they supposed to be put together with thermite welding?
Elsewhere yes, I guess the temperatures there will override the benefits of doing that.
@@zacm.2342 thank you
@@zacm.2342 keep in mind that this is northern Ontario
For the same reason that bridges out here in central and northern Canada have expansion joints large enough to fit your fist through rail also needs this. If you have ever seen "the worse railways in the world" and have seen those wonky wavy rails. That is what the rails would look like after one good winter if it was all welded together. Those joints are critical in order for the rail to last and stay safe.
This is secondary line so no.
Bet as soon as these goofs were done they threw that saw right in the back of the truck ti get frozen again
Better than the smell of two stroke in the cab. It’s not even allowed.
It's hydraulic you nitwit
