Troubleshooting a Yamaha 40hp outboard that won't turn over

Today we are doing a little bit of electrical troubleshooting on a pretty rough Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke outboard motor I recently picked up in Tifton GA sight unseen for $650. When I got the motor, it would not turn over at all - In this video we track down the culprit that was causing the motor to not turn over.

I have a 83 evinrude 25 that had the neutral safety switch causing my starting issues. I adjusted it a bit to where it made better contact and it fixed it for me. Glad you figured yours out too!

Often times with these older motors the problem can be a simple fix once you are able to track it down!
