    Your voice is perfect for learning English. I suggest that you make videos talking about subjects that are not related to English because this way we can learn without focusing on English itself. Stephen Krashen has already stated that we learn a language when we understand it when we listen or read it. You have the perfect voice for this, you just need to talk about any other subject, entertainment, politics, sports or cooking for example. The best English teacher in the world, A.J. Hoge speaks stories about various subjects, that's why he's the best. Do the same !

      @@EnglishwithBrittany I'm sure you can become one of the best English teachers on CZcams because your voice is understandable and you're friendly so I can listen to you for a long time without getting tired. Talking about English, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation is too boring, but talking about gossip, politics or adventures is perfect. Anyone can tell a story but the voice may not be understandable, which compromises teaching. Your voice is perfect so everyone understands and everyone will like your stories because you are also friendly. Thank you for responding and I don't want to seem aggressive or disrespectful by telling you what to do with your channel. A big hug from one of your students from Brazil.

    I appreciate the amount of work you put on your videos. We need more content like this to guide us through the 'fluency mountain'. Some adivice on how to learn languages can be invaluable. Thanks for this amazing video lesson. One of the most difficult things for me is to manage the free time I have to study English. I'm always confused about what should I focus first, right now I'm trying to practice speaking on a really good app called 'tandem'. I recommend to anyone that wants to exchange languages and find people to talk to, it has native speakers of many different countries. Also I read a little and watch CZcams videos to train, reading and listening too, the only skill I'm not working on right now is writing. To master the 2000 high-frequency words in English is not easy, the main issue for me is how do I find an appropriate material for my language level that matches my personal interests.

    Hey, Brittany! Thank you so much for such an inspiring and helpful video! I want to take a moment and share two problems I'm currently having that hold me back from moving on to a higher level of English. So every time whenever I learn new vocabulary words/phrases and they get ingrained in my mind to the point that I apply them in conversations/writing, it seems like other words I learned before just vanish from my memory and I don't remember and cannot put them in practice how I used to. Same thing happens with any interesting grammar constructions that I encounter. It upsets me a lot bc it makes me think that there is really something wrong with my memory and I will never get rid of it. Along with that, I really struggle with articulating my thoughts in English. I know the issue isn't in the fact that I just don't know how I feel or what I think about specific topic, because when I try to think about it in my native language, there is bunch of things I can say. It's just so overwhelming, because I feel like I am pretty fluent at English, but when it comes to making sentences, writing essays or giving a speech , I am uncapable of using my knowledge on full capacity. It's like I am fluent only in my head, but in real life it is absolutely opposite. Have you experienced any of this while learning French or maybe some of your students had similar problems? I would be beyond grateful to hear an advice or some tips regarding my situation from you.
    Thank you for taking your time and reading this!

    • @EnglishwithBrittany
      @EnglishwithBrittany  Před měsícem +1

      Hello! Wow, thank you so much for sharing your experience. That must be very frustrating, to be so proficient and yet not able to fully express yourself sometimes -- and to forget words and constructions when you need them most. I can definitely relate.
      Nothing is abnormal in terms of language-learning (and there is still so much that researchers, teachers, and learners just don't know yet).
      There are some questions we can ask ourselves and steps we can take to try and work out these 2 issues you're facing.
      Some things to consider:
      -What specific situations are you struggling in (speaking in school, work, with friends, presentations) and what sorts of topics? And how often are you practicing for these specific types of speaking? Sometimes we just need to give ourselves some grace, and allow ourselves more time to practice in these specific scenarios (not just in our heads, but out loud and often).
      -Is anxiety part of the issue? Are you getting nervous or flustered and could this be affecting your ability to remember certain words or to express yourself?
      I would also add that forgetting and remembering, or forgetting and relearning are very normal processes in the language learning process (even in our first languages). Sometimes we need to re-learn and practice a FRUSTRATING amount of times before something really sticks!
      Keep at it. You're doing great.

    • @EnglishwithBrittany
      @EnglishwithBrittany  Před 2 měsíci

      Hello! You don’t have to use flash cards to study vocabulary, but they are effective.
      If you’re a beginner and you want to learn the 1000-2000 most common words in English, write the words on flash cards (you don’t have to do ALL of them at the same time!).
      On the back of the flash card, you can write a translation of the word in your first language, but it’s better to write a sentence in English that uses the word. You can use google translate or AI to help you write the sentences.
      Seeing the word used in context and trying to remember how the word is used in a real sentence is more useful than just learning the word in isolation.
      Hope this helps!

    CZcams Music will completely replace Google Podcasts from June 23, 2024. CZcams Music is much more convenient than CZcams as screen-off mode is available and listeners can opt to do other things either on the phone or not. It has two modes: audio and video Could you please make your channel available on CZcams Music as well? Thanks 💖.
