Most certainly is your safety switch or at least that is what it sounds like. Look for an exposed wire and check the connection starting at the seat and then the deck.
Deere guru, not close. There is an alternator or regulator that charges the battery. I have not looked closely at mine. Follow the positive battery cable. Most certainly it is in the chain. But before that, make sure battery terminals positive and negative are tight. Mine complains when not tight. Have a voltage gauge? Put connectors on battery posts when running half speed to full. Should be over 12.5, ideally above 13. If it is, sensor may be bad. Check connections first.
JD dealer sells tuneup kits which include air filter, spark plugs, gas filter, oil and oil filter. Also keep the top of the radiator clean from grass clippings. These Kaw need plenty of clean air. .
Thats one nice machine, but its the wrong colour isnt it? ;-) I hate picking up dog crap. In fact I gotta go do that now before I cut the grass. Its impossible to keep the lawn looking nice with 2 Rottweilers.
